Re: so how does one open an attachment in the latest iteration of mail?

2014-07-22 Thread Andrew Lamanche
Dear Donna,

In most cases, I would save the attachment and then open it from the folder to
which I saved it.

However, if I want to open the attachment from the message body, I first
interact with the text of the message, then vo+arrow keys to find the name of
the attachment (voiceover says something like embedded image and name of the
attachment) and this is normally located at the bottom of the message so you
can try and jump to the bottom of the message first and then interact with the
text of the message. Once you land on the name of the attachment, perform the
vo+shift+m command to open contextual menu for this item. You should now have
a few choices, one of them being "open attachment". Activate it in the usual
way. This should open the attachment in the appropriate application. Then you
can decide whether you want to save it from within the app or not.

Hope this helps

Andrew

activities

2014-07-22 Thread Caitlyn Furness
Hi,
Is anybody else experiencing your mac seeming to get bogged down when you are
using activities with voiceover?

I just loaded a new set of vo preferences a few days ago and it's got several
activities set up. It now seems to take forever to change windows, for
example. It's driving me a little nuts. If I can't figure out how to speed
things back up, I'll just revert back to my old settings, but thought I'd ask..
Thanks,
Cait

Re: activities

2014-07-22 Thread Alex Hall
The problem seems to be when using Nuance voices. Even if none of your
activities change voices, just the act of using a Nuance voice appears to cause
slowness. Try switching to Alex and see if that helps, though I realize that is
not a solution. Please remember to email accessibil...@apple.com to let them
know about the problem.

Sometimes this happens here also. Don't think this worked the last time, but
when vo has focus on the attachment, interact and archive in Finder and open it

I have also noticed this as I have a lot of different voices for different
apps. What I have noticed when everything is working there is only a slight
delay when switching from say mail to safari, but for some reason every now and
then things slow to a halt almost making the computer unusable. When this
happens I restart my computer. Yes this is frustrating as I hate restarting but
it seems to get everything playing nice together again.

Re: sendspace wizard for Mac

2014-07-22 Thread David Griffith
Sendspace is accessible and i believe that there are some guidance
instructions on Apple Vis.

If you have used Sendspace on Windows you will find most of the commands
will also work on the Mac version but substitute command for control.

Folder navigation is a little tricky but the Guidance on Apple Vis may
help here.

2014-07-22 Thread Christina C.
I had major issues with an attachment yesterday. No matter what I did, nothing
would happen. I would bring up the context menu and I tried, open, save as, and
save to downloads. Nothing would happen though. I also realized later there
were actually two attachments. Finally, the one thing that seemed to work, or I
got really lucky, was to use an actual mouse click on the attachment instead of
my keyboard to bring up the context menu. I really feel, I finally just got
lucky. Anyways, you could try using an actual mouse click. I think you hold
down the control key on your keyboard and then click with your trackpad/mouse.
Also, I have mouse tracking on. My mouse pointer always follows my voiceover
cursor.

If you find a fix, I'd love to know,
Christina

Hi,

I have emailed Apple Accessibility about this in the past. I have noticed that
only some Nuance voices are affected, Serena being one, Moira not much at all

thanks for the reminder about emailing apple. Will do.

Apple Reports Third Quarter Results

2014-07-22 Thread Apple Hot News
Apple Reports Third Quarter Results

Apple today announced financial results for its fiscal 2014 third quarter ended
June 28, 2014. The company posted quarterly revenue of $37.4 billion and
quarterly net profit of $7.7 billion, or $1.28 per diluted share. These results
compare to revenue of $35.3 billion and net profit of $6.9 billion, or $1.07
per diluted share, in the year-ago quarter. Gross margin was 39.4 percent
compared to 36.9 percent in the year-ago quarter. International sales accounted
for 59 percent of the quarter's revenue. Apple's board of directors has
declared a cash dividend of $.47 per share of the company's common stock. The
dividend is payable on August 14, 2014, to shareholders of record as of the
close of business on August 11, 2014. "Our record June quarter revenue was
fueled by strong sales of iPhone and Mac and the continued growth of revenue
from the Apple ecosystem, driving our highest EPS growth rate in seven
quarters," said Tim Cook, Apple's CEO. "We are incredibly excited about the
upcoming releases of iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite, as well as other new products and
services that we can't wait to introduce."
