Changing language.

2014-07-08 Thread Anders Holmberg
Hi!
I actually changed the language my mac used to english so i could understand
what people meant when they explaind how to add a voiceover shortcut.
Now i want to change it bac but i really can't remember how to do that.
I open system preferences and go in to languages and region.
I can interact with the table of prefered languages but i can't remember how to
drag the language i want to the top.
Any help is highly appreciated.

Re: NFB store

2014-07-08 Thread Kayaker
Hi,

If Safari gives you a warning, you should have the option to look at the
certificate and then continue. Do take the time to understand why the warning
was raised in the first place before clicking on.

If you are asking about how to add approved CAs to Safari, you do this via the
keychain. What you need is the root CA certificate from the CA or organization
that generated the certificate. This is somewhat common in the corporate world
for corporate managed services. If you are curious as to the exact details,
here is a page I had bookmarked on the topic.
http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/apple-in-the-enterprise/managing-ssl-certificate-authorities-on-os-x/

That said, it's not something I would generally recommend for the non corporate
user or some other special circumstance.

Best,

Issue with the latest Launch Bar

2014-07-08 Thread Brian Fischler
I am kind of a newbie with Launch Bar and am running the latest version, and am
hoping this is just a setting that I need to change otherwise this program is
awful. I constantly have Launch Bar popping up and taking me away from my
current task. For example as I was writing the first sentence to this email
Launch Bar decided to pop up and be my main focus then I have to command accent
to get out of Launch Bar which will take me back to the second to last program
I was using then another command accent to get back to the program I was using.
As you can imagine Launch Bar constantly taking me away from what I am doing is
quite annoying. Not sure if this is some constant reindexing going on all, all
I know is I hate it. Also I have noticed that when I am in Launch Bar none of
my keyboard commanders work to get me out of Launch Bar. Anyway around this?
Thanks.

MacJournal

Hello listers,

Can anyone here share their experiences with MacJournal for the Mac. I also am
interested in the iOS version since I want to sync my Journal across devices.
:) I'd specifically like to know if they are voiceOver friendly. It is quite
expensive compared to other journal/diary apps and i want to make sure it is
worth it. :)

Thanks,

how to extend a musical project in Garage Band

2014-07-08 Thread Mac
I have created a song in Garage Band. I need to extend the whole song cause I
need to add some more loops to finish out the song. I though maybe just
copying the loop I needed at the end of the song might do it but that made the
drums outer which isn't what I want. I want the drums to play by themselves so
I can add a couple more loops to the drums. Can anyone help with this please?

Re: MacJournal

2014-07-08 Thread Christina C.
Thanks. I found it but this is not what I am looking for. I have no desire to
post or blog online. I want it for my own personal use. I also want to be able
to have one version on my Mac and one for iOS.

Hopefully someone on this list has tried MacJournal. :)

Have a wonderful day,

Frustration with attachments.

2014-07-08 Thread Gabriele Battaglia
Hi All.
I'm having series issues with attachments in Apple Mail.

What I do is:
1. Open the mail with an attached file
2. Interact with the body message
3. focusing the image represents the file attached
4. press VO+Shift+M

Then I get an 8 items menu but it seems not having any effect, no matter to
menu entry I press return on.

Some other time, that menu works. I don't know why.

Tonite, for instance, I'm not able to show a PDF I've received in a mail.

Could someone help?

Thanks.

Gabriel.

Re: Frustration with attachments.

2014-07-08 Thread Alex Hall
To preview attachments, move to the message in the messages table and hit
cmd-y. To save them, go to the File menu and choose "Save Attachments...æ, then
choose a folder into which to save and you're done. That is the easiest way
I've found to deal with attachments, as it saves me having to open the message,
interact, find the attachment link, and activate it.

I've played a little with Macjournal, but not very extensively. Still, it looks
like it's very accessible. You should be able to get a 15-day trial and give it
a go, but I think doing that would be worthwhile, since it does appear to be
pretty accessible.

anyone using iMessage on their Mac

2014-07-08 Thread Donna Goodin
Hi all,

I'm running Mavericks, haven't installed the latest update.

I'm trying to send a message using iMessage. I don't seem to be able either to
select a contact, or to indicate how I want the message sent, e.g. email, text,
etc. Is anyone able to use iMessage running Mavericks? If so, how are you
selecting the message recipient?
Thanks,
Donna

Just hit cmd-n and start typing the name. If the person is in your contacts,
they will be auto-filled, just like typing an email recipient. If not, type the
Apple Id or phone number of the person instead. Move to the next text field,
type your message, and press enter. I'm not sure what you mean by selecting how
a message is sent; can you explain that more? Thanks.

Re: anyone using iMessage on their Mac

2014-07-08 Thread Alex Hall
Usually, you are placed in a window showing all past conversation threads in a
table. Next to that is an HTML content area showing the history for the
selected thread, then a place to type a message to that thread. Left of the
threads table is a place showing who that thread goes to, which you can modify
if you like. Again, the fastest way to make a new message is cmd-n, or just
interact with the table and choose the thread with the person or people you
want to keep talking to. Let us know if you have more questions.

Re: anyone using iMessage on their Mac

2014-07-08 Thread Alex Hall
By default, VO will read the notifications you get, assuming you haven't
disabled the Messages app in your Notification Center. This only speaks a few
words, but it is enough to let you know who sent the message and that it is
waiting for you to view. I think there might be a setting in the preferences to
have the system voice speak new messages, but I haven't looked in a while.

Re: anyone using iMessage on their Mac

2014-07-08 Thread Donna Goodin
Hi Alex,

What you are describing is what I've seen before, but not what I saw this
evening. Again, thanks!
Cheers,
Donna

 Hi all,

I'm running Mavericks, haven't installed the latest update.

I'm trying to send a message using iMessage. I don't seem to be able
either to select a contact, or to indicate how I want the message sent,
e.g. email, text, etc. Is anyone able to use iMessage running Mavericks?
If so, how are you selecting the message recipient?
 Thanks,
 Donna

Re: Good, accessible IRC client for OS X?

2014-07-08 Thread Sabahattin Gucukoglu
When I used to be on IRC and other networks a lot, and I ran my own Jabber
server on my VPS, the best solution I found was to run an IRC transport and
then join IRC channels much as any other MUC room on Jabber. This was highly
accessible but resulted in latency problems as the machine was hosted in the
US. It also occasionally triggered rate limiting on some IRC servers as iChat
(now Messages) performed many /who queries to get profile information. But it
worked, and was highly satisfactory. I don't know that I'd recommend it for a
full-time IRC user, but it made it possible for me to drop in for support, etc.

Cheers,
Sabahattin

this is a possibility for me, too. When I get Emacspeak running, I can also
use the Emacs IRC client, much as I do on Linux. However, I'm always
interested in exploring the possibilities.
