iCloud mail

2014-07-06 Thread Christopher Hallsworth

Hi all
I might consider unsubscribing here from this address and subscribing
via my iCloud email address. I have it but never used it other than when
I purchase my own credit for iTunes to which I tell them to send it to
my iCloud account. At least with iCloud email set up is automatic and
instantaneous, no need to remember credentials, settings or anything. It
just works. I may also consider unsubscribing related mailing lists like
viphone and subscribing to these from my iCloud email account. Thanks
for the possible motivation very much appreciated.

Ah, the Gmail issue is separate. Gmail automatically discards multiple copies

Re: Tandom equivalent for the Mac

2014-07-06 Thread Sabahattin Gucukoglu
Hi Tim,

The problem comes when you need an interactive utility, such as Directory
Editor, System Preferences or, most frustrating of all, the Mac App Store.
Though you may use the softwareupdate command-line tool to fetch software
updates, you can't get Mac App Store updates, including to those of Server.app.
Quite why this is, I can't guess, but it means that I always have a spare
keyboard for when I visit the minis to do updates. I'm looking now into
running one of my Minis as an ESXi host so that I can relegate the Mac to a
purely caching-only role, which I would hate to do, more or less for this
reason. Linux is just brilliant for SSH-only access.

The only way I can use ARD is if I restart the target machine to force the
connection to be dropped, so I can get control back. If there's a better way,
I haven't figured it out yet.

Cheers,
Sabahattin

Just curious, I took a look. It's not the server certificate that's the
problem, it's that it's requesting client TLS authentication, which is
obviously broken if it's meant to be public-access. Unfortunately Safari on OS
X insists that you make a choice, regardless of whether or not you even have a
qualifying certificate.

Summary: nothing you can do, just hit escape. Or contact NFB.

This is experimental. Please don't write just to complain; we already know
it's at least partly broken. :)

If you would like to get involved and help out, please join our group ( send
email to agrip-project+subscr...@googlegroups.com ). Matt and I, the authors,
always seem to be out of touch with one another of late, but we are working on
it and would appreciate any help. Developers, in particular, are urged to try
our build process from start to finish, and tell us how it went for you.

Thank you for taking an interest in Audioquake. It's always appreciated. :)

As for Mac games in general, the audyssey list and audiogames.net are the best
place to discover new games and hang out with other players. There are the
Draconis titles, of course, but there have also been recent releases for the
Mac, like all the stuff from Ticonblu. And of course there's anything you can
play in a Windows VM, plus all the usual suspects for text-based or
browser-based games. ChoiceOfGames.com have a web store now, too, so you can
play their games in your browser as well as on iOS.

Re: Making movies without iMovie?

2014-07-06 Thread Daniela Rubio
Use mpg stream clip, whuch will allow you to edit clips, append one clip to an
other and make different formats. How ever, you will not get the nice features
like transitions, titles, sound effects, etc.
If you want to add background music to a film, when it is ready, you can also
use Garageband 6 to do it, it works pretty nice.
These are some work arounds, we all hope that the new iMovie becomes better and
more usable.

Re: Recommendations for learning to program on a Mac

2014-07-06 Thread Littlefield, Tyler
At this point it seems as if you're just blathering. -learning- a
language means you know the standard libraries with it. Most people
don't need the standard c libraries because they have the objc
foundation framework. But again, if you're willing to believe that by
programming in objc (which is vastly different although built on c), be
my guest. You'll come closer to knowing c after using c++ than you would
if you just used objc, since there are much more similarities.

Sure ARC is a compiler feature that people don't need, but it is still
frequently used. C doesn't have: ARC, interfaces/protocols, messages,
anonymous functions, different preprocessor commands (#import vs
#include for objc), syntactic sugar (foreach loop, for example), etc. If
it follows that by learning objc one knows c, then by learning c one
should be a lot closer to objc. I've used c and c++ for years now and
stilll have to learn a lot when it comes to objc. The same could be said
for any c programmer: you're going to go in and have to learn what c
doesn't have and what exactly it does differently. mainly, you're going
to be working at a much lower level than you were with objc, which many
people have problems with.

Apple might be moving away from objc, but they can't ever fully phase it
out entirely until Swift is to the point where they can rewrite
everything. That's got a long ways to go yet.

On 7/6/2014 12:23 AM, Sabahattin Gucukoglu wrote:

But again, those are simply features of Objective-C. If you simply don't use
Objective-C features and therefore Objective-C syntax, your program is valid C
source. So if you learn the entire grammar of Objective-C, you also know the
entire grammar of C, no matter how incidental it is to your use of Objective-C.
This simply can't be said for C++ or Java (the latter, BTW, much closer to
Smalltalk in OO semantics, and also to Objective-C).

Now if you were to say that "Learning Objective-C does not result in a
well-disciplined C programmer capable of withstanding the rigours of procedural
programming", I'd definitely be inclined to agree with you. But if people are going
to learn to write iOS and Mac apps, it seems to me that Objective-C is a much better
place to be if you intend writing other C programs in future, because you'll be able to
use your knowledge to understand both C and many other languages. Swift simply breaks
from C in order to emphasise Apple's frameworks, which makes me sad.

Anyway, I think I've gone way off-course for this list, so I'll stop now. But
feel free to write me privately if you'd like to continue. :)

Cheers,
Sabahattin

Re: Making movies without iMovie?

2014-07-06 Thread Phil Halton
Hi Daniela,

Except for the conversion and stream capabilities, it looks like QuickTime will
allow me to do the same things as Mpeg stream clip, and I can record my clips
there too.
I only need to do simple clip trimming like cutting out the first and last few
seconds, or isolating takes. Then these clips can be put into a movie format
with titles and transitions in iMovie.
I belong to a online music school where I need to create video clips of my
playing for review/critique by a teacher, and it doesn't need to be too
fantastic - just decent quality audio and full visibility of myself playing.
QuickTime would actually fit the bill, but I like to put a title and a few
transitions on the clip using iMovie.
I can do all this within iMovie itself, including recording the clips, but I'm
looking towards the day when Apple kills accessibility to iMovie altogether.

Thanks for the info, and I am also hoping for a more accessible iMovie.

Suggestion for new macBook Pro

2014-07-06 Thread Venkatesh Potluri
Hi list.
I am planning to buy a new macbook. I need your suggestion on
upgrading the macbook.
I would like to go for the 15-inch MacBook pro with retina display.
I am wondering if upgrading to 512 GB flash storage would be necessary.
I am also not sure if upgrading the memory(RAM) to 16GB would be necessary.
If I enrol for apple care, Will I have the warranty valid in india? I
am talking about a MacBook purchase that will not need an upgrade for
4 to 5 years.
I am a VO user and use my MacBook for basic coding, iOs and android
app development, occasionally playing light weight games. I will have
to run software like matlab, logic and garageband at times.
I am unable to decide between the following configurations.

configuration1:
*   2.3GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 3.5GHz
*   8GB 1600MHz DDR3L SDRAM
*   256GB PCIe-based Flash Storage
*   Intel Iris Pro Graphics
* Apple care protection plan for macbook pro
configuration 2:
*   2.3GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 3.5GHz
*   16GB 1600MHz DDR3L SDRAM
*   256GB PCIe-based Flash Storage
*   Intel Iris Pro Graphics
* apple care protection plan for macbook pro

configuration 3:

*   2.3GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 3.5GHz
*   16GB 1600MHz DDR3L SDRAM
*   512GB PCIe-based Flash Storage
*   Intel Iris Pro Graphics
*   NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M with 2GB GDDR5 memory

Please suggest.
Thank you.

Venkatesh

Re: Suggestion for new macBook Pro

2014-07-06 Thread Alex Hall
My personal thoughts are that 8gb of ram, and even the most basic of the
processor options, will do fine. If you have the money, though, 16gb of ram
will, when combined with the flash storage all Mac laptops now use, make that a
very powerful machine. Xcode runs well on my MBA, which has only 4gb of ram,
for what that's worth.

Storage will not affect performance. If you plan to store large raw audio files
and other sound projects (you mentioned Logic) you'll want more storage. Again,
just my opinion, but if I could upgrade the storage or ram, I'd do the storage
first. I'd rather have 8gb of ram and 500gb of flash storage than twice the ram
but half the storage. Of course there are external drives to supplement the
internal drive, but it can get annoying to live off them. I'd prefer to use
externals for backups, but keep primaries of all my files and projects stored
internally if I could.

Hi Chris,

You do not need to unsubscribe and re-subscribe to change eMail addresses for a
Google Groups subscription. Simply add your iCloud address to your Gmail
account, then modify your settings for the MacVisionaries list on the
MacVisionaries settings page that is linked at the bottom of most messages sent
to you through this list. Google's pages are certainly not perfect but very
manageable with Safari when using a combination of the tab key, arrow keys and
the return key.

Re: Suggestion for new macBook Pro

2014-07-06 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi,

expect that the Apple Care would work in India, especially if you're
purchasing through the Apple Store India version. If purchasing from another
country's store, then it's probably a good idea to check with Apple themselves
by calling one of their numbers.

Regarding which MBP to purchase, I usually prefer the unit with more RAM. In
my opinion, RAM is the factor that makes your computer last the longest. As
new OS's come out and apps get more and more features, RAM seems to be the
factor that makes or breaks your user experience, especially with respect to
processing. For the size of the SSD, that all depends on your storage needs.
In the old days, bigger was better, but with Cloud storage and such, that's not
always the case anymore.

HTH.

Re: NFB store

2014-07-06 Thread Kayaker
Hi,

Certificates are not as intuitive as they should be. If you get a certificate
warning from a web site, it doesn't mean it is an invalid certificate. I will
attempt to simplify what is happening at the cost of some technical accuracy,
but I think this will help you all understand what is going on.

The HTTPS is basically HTTP over what is called SSL/TLS. This tries to protect
against two things: first, ensuring the site you are connecting to is in fact
the site you expect and second providing a secure encrypted connection for data
between you and the server. This oversimplification of how this works is by
having a server you connect to send you a certificate. This certificate
contains a lot of information. It contains information about the domain, the
date the certificate was issued, how long the certificate is valid for, and
most important, the public key for the server. It also includes information
about who issued the certificate. Certificates are usually issued by a
Certificate Authority or CA. A CA is a trusted company like Verisign and your
web browser has a list of valid CA companies it recognizes. When you first
connect to a server via HTTPS, your browser tries to validate the certificate
with the CA. If your browser doesn't recognize your CA as a trusted one, it
will warn you. It doesn't mean the CA is bad, or the certificate is bad, it
means the browser doesn't know the validity of the CA. It is perfectly valid to
generate your own certificate and public and private keys without using a CA.
One would do this because one cares more about encryption than validating the
site as the one your are trying to connect to. If you remotely connect to your
Mac with ssh, you have sort of done this with your own self signed certificate.

Now a bank wants a certificate that can validate who it is. They will pay a big
deal of cash to have a CA issue them a certificate. The CA validates the
request by looking up business address, calling the main phone number, and some
other basic private investigation work. This prevents some hacker in eastern
Europe from obtaining a valid certificate from a CA. This is good if you are a
bank.

The take away is that some certificates are more trusted than others. I want to
trust my bank a whole lot more than online mom and pop shop.

So, you need a certificate for HTTPS. Now, what errors can the browser give you
and where are the holes. As I said, the first warning comes if the browser
doesn't have the CA in it's trusted list of CAs. This varies from browser to
browser. This is a warning because you might know more than the browser's
developer. The second error is if the CA rejects the validity of the
certificate, like the fingerprints don't match. Another error can be the
certificate has expired. Apple actually made this mistake recently on the app
store.

Now, here is one huge hole in the process. Remember the heart bleed bug? Well,
certificates also have a private key. This private key is the most important
piece of secret data and is never given out publicly. The private key is needed
to decrypt the data. If a bad guy gets the private key, this means that anyone
could make a public key from the private and spoof a web site. So, Owners of a
certificate can revoke a certificate if it thinks the private key has been
compromised or for any other reason. No big deal right? Well, turns out it is.
The mechanism for checking a revoked certificate is off by default in most all
browsers. Google's chrome doesn't even really bother to check if a certificate
has been revoked. Safari is not much better in checking. So until a certificate
truly expires, a revoked certificate will often work without warning the user.

More than you wanted to know, probably, but knowing why your browser warns
about a certificate is important so you can judge the validity of the risk. In
the case of NFB, I'd worry a little less, looks like the CA is not trusted by
the browser. However, since you went to the site yourself, validating that nfb
is nfb is a little less important. It's when you click on that link from your
email to your bank that it becomes critical.

So, what do I do as best practice? If I get a warning like that, I look to see
who issued the certificate. If it is self signed, and I went to site, I don't
worry about it at all if it's a small shop or non profit.

Hope this helps a little and didn't confuse you all more. Again, some details
were left out for simplicity sake in the hopes to make this a bit less daunting.

Best,

Re: garage band keyboard shortcuts: expanding loops and note editing

2014-07-06 Thread Littlefield, Tyler

Hello:
I have a few issues with this. I had two loops I wanted to use. when I
place a loop, however I can't control where that loop will begin.
interacting with the move left edge move right edge or loop bit
sometimes will say bar 4 or whatever, but it doesn't actually say it all
the time. I also can't move the left/right edge very well. I presume the
loop is how long it is and the left edge is where it starts, but
interacting and using arrows does not actually move either of those. Any
other advice here would be awesome. I don't really know what else to try
with this.

1) Is there an accessible way to work with the note editor?
2) How would one stretch a track (so I can play a loop and then stretch it

Hello all:
I'm looking to do some minor production with GB and was curious if there's
keyboard commands listed somewhere. Most importantly, I'm interested in
shifting pieces of tracks around, expanding/shrinking them (so I can just play
one set once and expand it), and editing notes. I need to do a really fast
highhat and I need to be able to somehow edit that so I can play what I want

Thanks in advance,

Re: Managing Gmail

2014-07-06 Thread Desi Noller
Hi Sabahattin,

Thanks so much for your input! I think switching to iCloud is doubtless my
best option! I'm not the most technologically savvy person though, and I'm not
sure how to do this. It seems to me that I may already have an iCloud address,
but obviously I have never used it. How do I find out if I have an established
address, and if I don't, how do I go about setting one up? I truly don't want
to keep any Google accounts active! Thanks so much for any direction you can
send my way!

Re: Suggestion for new macBook Pro

2014-07-06 Thread venky . 92
Hi.
Thanks for the response.
I will not be able to purchase it from the Indian version of the Apple Store as
there is no option to configure the MacBook in India so i'll check with apple
on that.
Is there an option to store GarageBand loops and logic loops on an external
drive?
I am quite comfortable with using the laptop with an external drive connected
occasionally.
Thanks.

Re: Tandom equivalent for the Mac

My understanding from some discussions on the TIDBITS.COM newsletters is that
BTMM uses IPv6 protocols and therefore the lack of IPv4 address space should
not be a deterrent.

Fresh Direct

2014-07-06 Thread Christine Grassman
Good day all. Would like to know if anyone uses this food delivery service; its
web site does not appear to be particularly accessible. For example, if I
search for something, it tells me the number of results, but despite trying all
sorts of things: interacting with various parts of the screen, using the rotor,
doing a search -- I cannot locate the results.
If anyone has used this, or is using it, I would appreciate hearing what you
think. If anyone uses any of the Fresh direct apps and they are accessible, I
would also appreciate knowing. Thank you.
Christine

Yes, but the error was too many arguments. If the source directory only has

I added a phonetic first name into my contacts and SIRI and VoiceOver on the
Mac and iPhone appear to use this. I am not sure now, since even in this

To do this goto the Card menu in the contacts application and select add field.

Re: Suggestion for new macBook Pro

2014-07-06 Thread Sabahattin Gucukoglu

I have the following policy regarding buying stuff from Apple:
1. Buy it only if it was just announced.
2. Buy the highest amount of every upgradable resource.

In this way, your investment is maximised.

You will find this a difficult policy to enforce. You will probably also
be glad to hear that I sometimes break my own rules. :)

Your usage profile doesn't sound all that different from mine.
Nevertheless, I intend my MacBook Pro to last as long as I can make it, so
I bumped everything up, including the SSD to 1TB. This turns out to have
been a good move, because it means all my data is now on the boot drive,
increasing portability and performance (I still don't forgive Apple for
making my first MacBook Air a maximum of 256 GB simply because of my
choice of screen size).

Good luck with your purchase.

Cheers,
Sabahattin

You can also check out the refurbished mac store on the Apple site. All come
with 1 year warranty, and you can buy Apple care to extend the warranty to 3
years. Buy the max of what you can afoard. I have a 2010 MacbookPro wtih 8GB
RAM, & 500GB hard drive. It is 4 years old, and still going strong.

Re: Tandom equivalent for the Mac

2014-07-06 Thread Sabahattin Gucukoglu
Hi Jonathan. BTMM does use IPv6 for the internal cloud addresses (unique-local
addressing), but the endpoints are still IPv4. It's entirely possible that
Apple has changed their protocol since they last documented it, but at the time
the home gateway needed some kind of NAT traversal support, whether by UPnP or
NAT-PMP. Now, however, it seems that even if that is switched off, BTMM can
still work, although more slowly, so perhaps they've not got it working behind
large-scale NAT as well.  Goodness knows why they don't just use IPv6 natively;
would give the world one more reason to upgrade. :)

Cheers,
Sabahattin

as a side note, Facetime can use IPv6 all the way from one endpoint to
another to carry a voice call.

Re: Managing Gmail

2014-07-06 Thread Sabahattin Gucukoglu
Hi Desi,

You should be able to turn on iCloud mail reception in the iCloud preference
pane in System Preferences. Find the "Services" group, interact, and then look
for Mail. When you switch this on, you should be prompted for your new primary
iCloud address (you can create three more aliases on the web). This step can
also be done on iOS, using Settings, iCloud.

And that's pretty much all there is to it. Have fun. :)

Re: Managing Gmail

2014-07-06 Thread Alex Hall
One note here: you can't then use your iCloud address as your Apple ID. I have
my Gmail as my ID, but once I made my iCloud address I wanted to switch over to
that and leave Gmail behind. Unfortunately, since iCloud addresses are
technically Apple IDs in themselves, you can't change your ID from whatever it
is now to your new iCloud address. At least, I haven't found a way, and Google
seems to indicate that I'm not alone in my frustration. I don't understand
exactly how the system works (how do you then have two Apple IDs with one
password, for instance) but the bottom line is the same. Of course this won't
impact your use of iCloud at all, but I thought I'd mention it in case you
tried to do the same thing I wanted to do and couldn't work out why it is
disallowed.

Re: Managing Gmail

Yep, ditto. You can log in using your new iCloud address, but Apple seems to
give them special treatment, such that you can't actually make your primary
identifier your iCloud address. Annoying as hell, but just ignore it.

And a caution: whatever you do, do not remove your old email address from
AppleID.apple.com, or you're locked out of your account unless you still have
access to your old address! Instead, simply change your contact email address
to your new iCloud one, and ignore the old address.

Re: Managing Gmail

Exactly. :) The only time you'll still need the old one is for logging in,
which is indeed very annoying. It's weird to sign into your iCloud account
using a Gmail address (username) just to access iCloud mail. Until Apple lets
you merge Apple IDs, though, we're all kind of stuck.

Re: Suggestion for new macBook Pro

2014-07-06 Thread Feliciano G
You're better off asking these questions to the place where you're going to buy
the laptop. Most places that sell refurbished items have them go through a test
but the test they go through is not the same test as if it were to be brand-new
in most instances. If the refurbished item is backed up with a similar warranty
like that of a brand-new laptop, you should have that peace of mind.

Re: Managing Gmail

2014-07-06 Thread Desi Noller
In this case, I shouldn't have a problem, because my current gmail address is
not my primary e-mail address. After I am sure that my new iCloud address
works, I will get rid of my gmail account altogether. Thanks for the heads-up
on this!

Re: Suggestion for new macBook Pro

2014-07-06 Thread Alex Hall
A refurb will usually be an older model, so you'll have to think about that.
For instance, it might have N wifi instead of AC, or a less capable processor
or graphics chip, that kind of thing. I am pretty sure Apple replaces the
batteries in their refurbs before selling them, so battery life should not be a
problem. Basically, though, you are paying less for an older, but still
perfectly good, machine.

Re: Tandom equivalent for the Mac

2014-07-06 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi Sabahattin,

Yes, interactive actions are problematic. Many System Prefs are configurable
via the command line though, so I often ssh in as root and set things that way.
Are you positive that the Server app will not update using the SoftwareUpdate
tool through ssh and in as root? My readings tell me otherwise although I
can't recall for sure if Server app was updated last time I did things in this
manner. I, too, usually have a keyboard connected but have done things
remotely using ARD's Control feature as well.

For the Server app, as you likely already know, once the Server app has been
updated, it needs to be ran again to re-setup services. In ARD, keyboard
strokes will be passed through as long as you don't hold down VO keys. So, in
ARD, check which app is open, if it is at the Login screen, take control of the
Server, press the first letter or two of the user you wish to login as, press
return, enter the password and press return again. You can check on if it
worked by going out of control mode and seeing which app is active, it should
be Finder if the login worked for you. Sometimes, you need to press down on
the mouse or trackpad once to get focus to the Login screen app if the above
didn't work for you. Once in the Finder, you can use the "Open Application"
item under the Manage menu to open the Server app which will bring up the
"Which Server do you wish to play with" dialog. By default, it's focus is on
the current server, so pressing the return key continues on to the next screen.
Press return again to agree to everything since, of course, it's your own
server. The next dialog asks for your Admin password, enter it and press
return and the re-configuration of services will proceed on its own I just let
it do its thing for a few minutes, then press cmd-q to quit the Server app,
cmd-option-shift-q to log it out and then close the control screen to bring
focus back to my workstation.

Just for fun, I've sat next to the Server with my laptop and performed these
actions to see if it was working properly, and it works as I've outlined.
Using this method, you can turn VO on or off on the Server, can use ctrl-f2 to
get up to the menubar, ctrl-f8 to get to menu extras and more. Of course,
there's no audio feedback, so you need to have faith in your memory.
Sometimes, though, I actually get out of my chair and walk to the other end of
the building or wait until the next day I'm at one of the other facilities to
sit in front of the Server to do what needs done.

Re: Suggestion for new macBook Pro

2014-07-06 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi,

The refurbished ones when purchased through Apple are simply a slightly older
than new model but have been tested and likely have new batteries installed.
You can often save a couple hundred dollars over the purchase of a new machine,
but you are getting older technology. Sometimes that's OK, sometimes not. I
found my late 2011 MacBook Pro to be seeming slow for my liking, so swapped out
the HD for an SSD, moved the HD over where the optical drive was and bumped it
up to 16 GB of RAM for less than $500. I'm hoping I've gained a couple more
years out of this machine for much less than purchasing a brand new one.
Worked for me but it depends on your needs for what suits you the best.

Re: Tandom equivalent for the Mac

2014-07-06 Thread Sabahattin Gucukoglu
Hi Tim,

Thanks a lot, I'll give it another try. Obviously I would be a much happier
person if it worked 100% reliably, but indeed the hard part is getting the
Server app updated, and then restarting it; often it's easier to just remember
to bring the keyboard, even when I'm remoting close enough to the thing to be
able to hear it through its tinny little speaker. Ah, the effort! :)

Yes, I'm almost certain that the softwareupdate tool only checks for software
updates of the old school, and not MAS updates. Now that my connection is
metred, I'll be switching exclusively to caching, so it's more important than
ever that I get this working since I won't have access to the downloaded
updates via the Server repository, which is the way you'd do it before Lion.
Feel free to put me right if you discover otherwise, as I'd just *love* to be
proved wrong. This would be a great time to rant about Apple's obsession with
apps at whatever cost, but I'll save it. :)

Cheers,
Sabahattin

Recording and monitoring multiple tracks with Garage Band at the same time

2014-07-06 Thread Vic
Hello GB users,
I just cannot get this scenario working. Here it goes.

I am trying to record a podcast. For this I loaded two tracks, one of which
I will be speaking into (vocal) and another one will take an audio output
from iPad (just a basic audio track). I already configured an aggregate
device so I can successfully pump the output from each track into a
different device.
I then enabled recording on multiple tracks at the same time with
OPTION+SHIFT+R. However, even though both tracks have their "recording"
checkbox checked, I can only monitor the output from the track under the
cursor while recording.
Please note, I am attempting to record on two tracks simultaneously.

Does anybody know if there is a way to monitor more than one track or am I
stuck with this limitation?

Thanks for any advice.
Best,
Victor

Voice Dream Reader and the iTunes option

2014-07-06 Thread Mike Busboom
Hi, everyone,

I use Voice Dream Reader all the time for reading material from Bookshare.
However, I am wondering how I can use the app to read books from other sources
such as iBook offerings.

When I select the "Add" option in the Voice Dream app, it appears that one of
the options, iTunes, would let me read iBooks that I purchased from the iBook
store. Is this the case. I can't really answer this question for myself
because I purchased Voice Dream Reader from the app store in the States but
thus far, I have only used my Austrian account for purchasing iBooks. Voice
Dream Reader is not available in the Austrian store. So put differently, if I
start purchasing iBooks from the US store, will I be able to read them with
Voice Dream Reader?

Kindest regards to all and many thanks,

Mike
