Question about internet weirdness.

2014-03-20 Thread Sarah Sackville McLauchlan
Hi all! Wonder if anyone else has had this problem and can help? Anyway,
sometimes, when I'm on the web, I'll land on a link and press VO+shift+m
because I want to download a file or open the link in a new window. But,
instead of getting a menu with those options in it, I'll get one instead with
back, reload page, open in dashboard, etc,. And I can't figure out any way to
get it to give me the menu I want again! Does anyone else know what I'm
talking about, and has anyone actually figured out what to do about it? Thanks
hugely if you have! This is driving me nuts!

Ok, thanks in advance,
Sarah

Re: Question about internet weirdness.

2014-03-20 Thread David Taylor
Hi,

What is causing it, I'm not sure, but here's what to do about it. If you want
to download a file, hit return. It will not appear to do anything, but the
download will start automatically, and just appear in your downloads folder. If
you want to open it in a new window, hit option return. Must admit, I never use
the context menus unless I have to as I usually find the OS built in methods
more reliable. One further tip, you can either navigate to the downloads list,
or go to your dock and find the downloads folder, and while a download is in
progress, it will tell you how far along it is.

Cheers
Dave

Re: recording internet stream with amadeus pro help

2014-03-20 Thread Buddy Brannan
Sure, but if you're recording a stream that's being played via Safari, you'd
best not leave that page, but rather open another tab or another window. Also,
be sure you don't have some other browser window playing sound, else it will
get recorded too.

Re: Question about internet weirdness.

2014-03-20 Thread Teresa Cochran
Yes, VO doesn't always focus on the item for the shortcut menu. You can press
option-enter to download a linked file. Also, if you go into accessibility
preferences with 5 times command-option-f5, you can enable mouse keys. This is
a function that doesn't depend on vO, and uses the numpad to move the mouse
pointer. You can toggle it on and off by pressing the option key five times
quickly. Once you have mouse keys on, you can press control-numpad-5 on the
link to do a right-mouse-click. This second method is a good option for me,
since I always have mouse keys enabled.

In the accessibility preferences, there's a setting for using keyboard keys for
mouse keys. I'm not very familiar with it, but it uses j, k, l as the middle
row of the numpad.

program recommendation to capture audio/video from an internet stream.

2014-03-20 Thread Jessica Moss
Ok, I didn't think I'd ever need anything like this, but can anyone recommend a
program that will capture the video as well as the audio portion of an internet
stream? I'm wanting to record at least the first portion of our on line church
service, sense my 4-year-old loves to watch the congrigation sing, and
everybody stands up and claps and the like, and on my own end, I like the way
our choir sings these songs better than the original artists.
Does anyone know of a program that will do this?

Might not be exactly what you want but the quicktime Player app lets you
make a screen recording to a file which you can then play back again later.

Re: what voice sounds like a teenager?

2014-03-20 Thread Shawn Krasniuk
Hi Rob. The only teenage voice I can think of that he was using With the Mac is
Scott from Acapela. Unfortunately, those voices aren't included with the Mac
and cost $15. Also, I don't think it's worth buying him because he sounds
robotic in his sample. JMO, of course. If you do want to know more, don't
hesitate to write back.

Hello Folks,

I found this in the Mac app store and I was wondering if any one on the list is
using it and if it is accessible with voiceover? Also, if someone is using it,
can you print checks with it like in Quicken?

Thanks in advance for your input.

Re: navigating in the latest version of numbers

2014-03-20 Thread Nicholas Parsons
I used to love Excell, used it all the time, and it was one of the main things
I would use Windows for even after getting a Mac. But that has changed with the
latest Numbers. I love the latest Numbers more than Excell.

Now, to kind of bring this conversation back on topic: One of the things that
makes Numbers easier for me, and means I can usually avoid having to jump to a
specific cell, is the use of multiple tables on one sheet. Because I usually
design my sheets to have multiple tables, navigation is much easier. However, I
understand some people will have the need for gigantic tables with huge amounts
of data, and in those cases it would be good to have such a short cut key to
jump to a specific cell.

Re: charts in pages

2014-03-20 Thread Barry Hadder
Hi,

When you are on the edit field, you are on a cell. You can tab or shift-tab to
go to the next or previous cell in the row. To move up or down, you press
return and shift-return. As far as I can tell, the radio group switches
between rows and columns.
Now, hear is the problem. To delete a row or column, you need to access a menu
by clicking a button next to a cell. You have to find it with the mouse. A
cell is actually a scroll are with the text field and menu button, but for some
reason vo many times will only see the text field. I have got vo to se the
scroll area as it should and I am able to interact with it and see both the
button and text field. However, I have no idea how I did it at this time.
I recommend checking out the keyboard short cuts in the pages help incase I
missed something.
Hope that helps.
