Can somebody give me a hand with this please?

Re: Adding numbers to the pages into a Pages document

2013-03-05 Thread Chris Blouch
You're talking about just a number at the bottom of the page that
increments automatically, not embedding a piece of spreadsheet from the
Numbers app, right? If so, I think you just need to pick Auto Page
Numbers… from the Insert menu. That will pop a dialog with choices like
centering, top/bottom of page etc.

Re: wireless controls that support multiple emulaters for the mac.

2013-03-05 Thread Chris Blouch
There seemed to be a bit of rigamarole to get them paired but after that
it depends on your emulator's software. It should have something to let
you map any input to be the up key etc. Once you've gone through that it
should be able to use your controller for any game.

Oh cool, will have a look at those, how easy do you think those would be to

Sounds like that could get pretty complicated, and unfortunately, I'm not

About at my end of my rope with this mail problem

2013-03-05 Thread Jed Barton
Hey guys,

4 hours later on the phone with apple, and still no progress on receiving
email with my mac.
I'm about ready to take this mac back at this point. Can anyone explain
what possible issues might be going on?
All the settings in apple mail look correct, but I can have the computer sit
there all day and not 1 piece of email will come in.
Yet when I check it on the PC, it all comes down. Yet, I'm getting no
errors when I do a get mail command.
This is beyond frustrating guys. Ever since I got this brand new mac, I
thought apples were just supposed to work. I feel like I've made no
progress on this computer in the alst month.
Does anyone else use gmail, and has anyone else had these issues of getting
no mail?

Thanks,
Jed

Hi,
It's Daniel, nice to see you on this list.
Do you know what error you get? Unless I missed it, I don't see the error
message you're getting.
Also, do you put in the settings manually? Or do you go through the mail setup
wizard?
If you do the mail setup wizard, the Gmail settings should work. Make sure you
have pop enabled for all mail on the Gmail site.
If this can help, try the article from this site

P.S.: We do have one another on our Skype lists, so contact me off-list on
Skype if you are still having trouble.
Good luck,
Daniel

Actually imap is default when you use the setup wizzard so if you use
pop on yourpc And have it enabled on Gmail servers, imap will not work.
It must be enabled on the Gmail side.

Hope this helps.

Re: more on converting files to ebooks, Caliber?

2013-03-05 Thread Annie Skov Nielsen
Hi.

There are both a mac and a windows version available. There are in fact a
program that can remove DRM from more types of protected files, it can be used
I think both on mac and windows, but there is a trial available.

www.epubsoft.com
I recommend them, I have been communicating with them recently. They will fix
accessibility issues in there programs.

Best regards Annie.

Re: trying to access Chase statements

2013-03-05 Thread Eugenia Firth
I have thought of another thing that might be happening. As far as I know,
Adobe Acrobat Reader for the Mac doesn't work with VoiceOver. I have had some
websites like my bank insist on calling up Adobe Acrobat Reader, which means
that you want to download the thing first and then look at it off line when you
can use Preview.

Do you have another email address? One assigned when you signed up with your

My point is to try email without using gmail. If that works the problem is
narrowed down to a set up issue with gmail.
I assume you can get to the internet without a problem? That wil tell us

Accessing the Emoji Keyboard on the Mac

2013-03-05 Thread Rachel Feinberg
Greetings:

Someone was asking recently how to access the Emoji keyboard, and other special
characters. It is done by pressing command+option+T in messages, which will
then reveal the special characters. You can choose from the categories table,
"Emoji" and proceed to the other tables to get more specific. You can also
search for what you wish to send in the toolbar. once you've found what you
wish to send, press vo+space on it, and enter will send it.
Source:
http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/tips/comments/using-emoji-in-messages-on-os-x/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter
I've not found that the Mac will read them, Voiceover just says "group" but it
will read them on an iDevice.
HTH,
Rachel

Re: About at my end of my rope with this mail problem

2013-03-05 Thread Buddy Brannan
Hi,

Gmail you say?

Could be that gmail is blocking you. Two things:

First, you'll want to be sure that imap and POP3 are enabled in your gmail
account. If they aren't, it won't work. You'll need to do this from the gmail
settings page.

Second, if you've got pop3 and imap set up, it could be that google is blocking
you anyway. If so, you'll want to go to this page:
http://www.google.com/accounts/DisplayUnlockCaptcha

And follow the instructions.

RE: About at my end of my rope with this mail problem

2013-03-05 Thread Jed Barton
Wow, can you actually have both pop and imap enabled?
I thought it was 1 or the other.
Have you had these issues before yourself?
I can send mail all day from the mac, and the pc has never had an issue.
Thoughts?

Thanks,
Jed

Hi,

Gmail you say?

Could be that gmail is blocking you. Two things:

First, you'll want to be sure that imap and POP3 are enabled in your gmail
account. If they aren't, it won't work. You'll need to do this from the
gmail settings page.

Second, if you've got pop3 and imap set up, it could be that google is
blocking you anyway. If so, you'll want to go to this page:
http://www.google.com/accounts/DisplayUnlockCaptcha

And follow the instructions.

Yes, you can. But if you are trying to check POP with only imap available or

 Hey guys,

4 hours later on the phone with apple, and still no progress on

I'm about ready to take this mac back at this point. Can anyone

All the settings in apple mail look correct, but I can have the
computer sit there all day and not 1 piece of email will come in.
Yet when I check it on the PC, it all comes down. Yet, I'm getting
no errors when I do a get mail command.
This is beyond frustrating guys. Ever since I got this brand new
mac, I thought apples were just supposed to work. I feel like I've
made no progress on this computer in the alst month.
Does anyone else use gmail, and has anyone else had these issues of
 getting no mail?

 Thanks,

Really?

Huh. I might've pated it wrong, half a second.

Nope, it came up right away for me, and asked me to log in.

Let me paste it again. Maybe I accidentally typed something else in the URL.

Re: Accessing the Emoji Keyboard on the Mac

2013-03-05 Thread ppowells09
Hi,
I am curious, about the same issue. I have successfully been able to do
iMessage on my Mac with Emoji navigating to :-) picker. I was not aware there
were other imaging beyond the smiley picker. I know iOS has many. If you can
please explain in more depth as to how to get to them other then the smiley
picker, I would appreciate it thank you

I've not found that the Mac will read them, Voiceover just says "group" but it
will read them on an iDevice.

I can't remember how it's done but you may either enable imap on

More on this mail problem

2013-03-05 Thread Jed Barton
Hey guys,

I simply do not understand why I am the only person on this list having
issues with getting my email from gmail.
The real killer is, someone on here made a suggestion I change 1 thing the
1st day I had my mac, and I don't even know what it was.
It worked for a while, I have no idea, but it worked. This person indicated
they had trouble with imap.
Upon recommendation of apple, I deleted the account, and now we're back at
square 1.

I've been back and fourth so many times with this I don't know whether I'm
coming or going any more.
To recap everyone, I simply am not receiving mail from my gmail account. I
get hundreds of messages a day, but none of them are showing up on my mac.
I go to create an account on the mac, and go through all the standard stuff
user name, password, bla bla.
Yet, no mail, but I can send mail all day cause I type a message hit the
command to send, and I hear the swish.
Is anyone available to go through things, is there something I'm missing?
I can use adium to chat, surf the web, but it's almost like this mac is
being thrown in to orbit when I check for mail. All it says is get new
mail, and nothing else.
Yet I'll shut the mac down, fire up the PC, and all my mail is there. Any
thoughts guys?

Thanks,
Jed

Hello,

by any chance, do you own an Apple device running IOS? An iPhone iPad, or iPod
touch? If so, you could transfer your mail account settings straight from the
phone to your Mac.

Just a thought.

RE: Accessing the Emoji Keyboard on the Mac

Evening first thanks for posting this, question does this work only in the
text message app or does it work in the email app program?

Greetings:

Someone was asking recently how to access the Emoji keyboard, and other
special characters. It is done by pressing command+option+T in messages,
which will then reveal the special characters. You can choose from the
categories table, "Emoji" and proceed to the other tables to get more
specific. You can also search for what you wish to send in the toolbar. once
you've found what you wish to send, press vo+space on it, and enter will
send it.

I've not found that the Mac will read them, Voiceover just says "group" but
it will read them on an iDevice.

Re: Changing Notification Sounds?

2013-03-05 Thread Ricardo Walker
Hi Mark,

Open up Mail preferences, and from the toolbar, select general. From the New
messages sound: pop up button, select add/remove. Press VO space on the add
button, and select the file you wish to use as an alert from the browser. Wen
done, you will now see your file in the airplane-seatbelt New messages sound:
pop up button. BTW, I believe the file has to be M4a, AIF, or CAF to work.

2013-03-05 Thread Kerri
Hello, all. How do I stop mail from creating mailboxes for people for example o
list who post often? I know how to remove them from the mail box list, but this
needs to cease. Thanks and have a great day.

Re: More on this mail problem

2013-03-05 Thread Mark Baxter
You tell it to get new mail, and do you hear a little chinking sound that
indicates no new mail, or what? I'm curious if somehow the port is not set to
port 25 any more. Jed, have you gone through and played with the ports for
POP3 and SMTP, or the port for IMAP?

Hi Mark,

Open up Mail preferences, and from the toolbar, select general. From the
New messages sound: pop up button, select add/remove. Press VO space on the
add button, and select the file you wish to use as an alert from the
browser. Wen done, you will now see your file in the airplane-seatbelt New
messages sound: pop up button. BTW, I believe the file has to be M4a, AIF,
or CAF to work.

good news with mail

2013-03-05 Thread Jed Barton
Hey guys,
I have some great news about my mail issues. It seems that the imap was
throwing things off a lot. What we ended up doing is to set it to pop, and now
everything is working awesome. Sorry guys if i came across really grumpy,
sincerely appreciate your patience.

Thanks,
Jed

reading mail, a minor problem

2013-03-05 Thread Jed Barton
Hey guys
I'm sure some of you have been through this before. I can see when new mail
arrives. However, what i remember before, when you did vo left arrow it would
show you who it was from, then when you do vo right arrow it would tell you the
subject.
It's not doing that. It's going to the next message when you do vo right
arrow. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Jed

Re: reading mail, a minor problem

2013-03-05 Thread Rachel Feinberg
Hi Jed,

Make sure you're interacting with the messages table. Vo+shift+Down arrow will
do this. Then you should be able to vo+up/down arrow whichever row you choose,
and can press vo+J to get to the text of the message.
