Apple tv and youtube videos
Dear Listers, Can one play Youtube videos accessing Youtube website directly from Apple tv, or does one need to stream them from a mac computer using airplay? Also, as an aside question, I have a late 2010 macbook air. I have read somewhere that I can't stream from it to apple tv. Can anyone on the list confirm this? There is an application called Airparrot which apparently allows for such streaming to be executed. Has anyone used it? Is it accessible? Maybe there is a different solution to stream to Apple tv from my macbook air other than by using a cable. Thanks for any suggestions/ tips. Some of my Apple sounds in Mail have disappeared
Listers, I have lost some of my beloved Apple sounds in Mail. I no longer hear my e-mails going off with the woosh sound, nor do I hear the familiar blow sound when my e-mails have finished downloading. I've not changed any settings. i've searched for some clues in Mail's preferences but not found anything. Has this happened to anyone else on the list? Is there a way of getting the sounds back? Re: Apple tv and youtube videos
The Apple TV has a YouTube app, no website access really. You can sign in to access your favorites or subscriptions via this app on the Apple TV. You can also stream from any computer using AirPlay from inside iTunes via a wi-fi connection. Hi there! To add to this if and when you get to the last message in the html area if you then turn off cursor tracking with VO+shift+f3 then you can just start typing your reply after reading the message just sent to you and when you press return to send your reply you just arrow passed the message you just sent and wait for the reply to that and arrow through that one! working with play lists
Hi, ok, I would appriciate a little help here.. I'm just starting to play around with creating and working with play lists in i tunes on the mac and am very lost with the whole thing! I thought it would be pretty easy, but maybe I'm just dense or something, lol! I've managed to create a play list from a selection, but how in the world do I add other songs to this list? I don't see anything in the menus to do this? My other question is how do I add an entire folder as a play list? I have a folder of holiday music which I just want to add as it's own play list for obvious reasons, can I just import this somehow? Thanks! Hi, • To add an item to a specific playlist, select the item or items then press VO-shift-m, choose Add to Playlist then choose the specific playlist from the sub-menu. • You must first add your folder of items to the iTunes Library first before adding it to any playlist. If you sort your Music Library according to Date Added, then you can quickly find the newly added items and create a Playlist from them. HTH. Later... If your folder isn't in iTunes, you can select and copy all the items in the folder. Then, go into iTunes and create a new playlist with command+n, name it, then paste all the previously copied items. You'll have a playlist of just your holiday songs. a note on running a Mini with no monitor
Hi all, I am way too nice and let a friend have my vga cable. I now have no monitor hooked up to my Mini, which is running 10.8.2, and said mini would be glaring at me if it could. It is slow to do just about everything, and nothing is running now that was not running when I shut down a couple days ago. So, for me at least, a monitor is indeed essential. Now I just have to pray for a vga cable to fall out of the sky... Re: a note on running a Mini with no monitor
IF you can get a terminal plug or a vga to avi adaptor tat tricks the mac into thinking there is something attached as a monitor, the mac mini will run fine with no performance difference. hth, Ioana Please check out my cd on www.ioanagandrabur.com on iTunes and most online stores. Re: a note on running a Mini with no monitor
With the older minis, there was an adapter you could get that allowed the mini's dvi port to connect to a regular TV. If this adapter was connected, the mini would work fine. That doesn't work on the newer minis though. Depending on what mini you have, it probably has a mini display port, and either a mini dvi port or HDMI port. With these, the only way I have found to make this work is to connect a monitor of some kind, I don't think just the cable is sufficient, I could be wrong there though. Re: Does Hid Country No Longer Carry the Mini Bluetooth Keyboard?
Hello Christine, I think that this web page (for United Integral) points to a version of the Bear Motion mini bluetooth keyboard that is like the one you bought from HID Country. This way you don't have to go through Amazon: http://www.unitedintegral.com/mini-bluetooth-keyboard-for-ps3-ipad-iphone-smart-phone-computer-htpc-more.html Here's the shortened link in case that wraps: http://bit.ly/UJqaDd Navigate to the heading, which will read "Mini Bluetooth Keyboard For PS3/iPad/iPhone/Smart Phone/Computer/HTPC & More". Re: a note on running a Mini with no monitor
Yes, you do need a monitor and no, it does not need to be on. Until I can get a vga cable I'm stuck, I just wanted to add this to the never-ending contraversy surrounding running a mac with no screen. Re: working with play lists
Hi Caitlyn, No, they shouldn't get all mixed everywhere. What she's saying is that you can copy the songs from your folder, create a playlist, then paste the songs into the playlist you've created. I've never done it this way but I believe it should work just fine. When you paste into the Playlist, the items will be added to both the Playlist and the Main Library. Does this help. Later... Re: a note on running a Mini with no monitor
Hello, I have read all of the emails about needing a monitor on my mini. I had already drawn that same conclusion by experimenting without one. I hooked my monitor back up, But that did not help the problem. When I first boot up my mini everything is stable and runs fine. That is, finder runs fine. As soon as I open my first app, no matter which app that is, everything changes. Everything slows way down and I get messages from every app including Finder that it is busy. If I am listening to something it will break up InSpeech every five seconds or so and I will miss a few words until it starts back up again. This is also true for iTunes. The song I'm listening to will play for about 10 seconds to 30 seconds and then it will stop for a few seconds then start up again and so on. I have reinitialize my PRAM, but that seems to of made no difference. I have verified and fixed any disk errors, but I did not have any. I have also verified and fixed permissions, but those too weren't the problem. I have tried to run the system monitor but I cannot do this because of the faltering in the voice and in the computer as a whole. I have unhooked any peripherals, which are mostly just drives, and that did not help. The only change I had made up until this point, besides the fact that I disconnected the monitor, was to purchase a new wireless router. Thinking that that might be the problem, I disconnected it ends put it on a PC. Although the router and my wireless network seem to function better on the PC, this did not help the way the many is running. My mini has the same amount of memory as another mini that I have in another room of the house. This one is running with no problems. I am at a loss. I realize you folks are not technicians, and I don't expect you to have an answer for me, but you seem to know so much about all of this that I was hoping I might get a few bites on something else to try. I appreciate your intelligence but I don't expect you to solve my problem. Does anyone have an idea? There's probably something simple that Ive overlooked, but I need to know what it is because I can't come up with it. Thanks for letting me ramble. Re: a note on running a Mini with no monitor
Right, I never turn the monitor on that attached to either of my mac minis, still, it's annoying that it requires that. Fortunately I already had these monitors, it would be difficult to justify buying a monitor that I would not use. Re: a note on running a Mini with no monitor
Give this a try if you can. Some of this does sound like the computer is not connected to a monitor. What port are you using for the monitor connection? Open the utilities folder and open the system information or system profiler application, whatever you have. In the list of components, go down to displays and look at what is displayed? Does it say a monitor is connected? On Nov 25, 2012, at 8:48 PM, Kristeen Hughes wrote: > Hello, I have read all of the emails about needing a monitor on my mini.
