Re: Renaining a music album

2012-11-01 Thread Steve Holmes
Yes, if I understand your question correctly, just hit Command-I while in
iTunes and focused on the file(s) in question. This will open a file
information dialog; select the Info tab and then just VO-Right arrow through
all the options that you can change. You can change for example, track title,
artist, album title, album artist, disc number and many more. If you select
multiple files at once before opening this up, you can change some of these
options across all those files; this is handy for things like total number of
tracks in album, album title, artiss, etc.

Hope this helps.

ITunes spoken tracks broken?

2012-11-01 Thread Amber Wallenstein
Good morning, all:
I really enjoy making books I have downloaded from Bookshare and the like into
spoken tracks in ITunes. However, ever since I have upgraded to mountain lion,
this feature seems to not be working correctly for me. It will start the
process, but only make at most a minute of the contents available.
I have the file in text edit, and I highlight the entire document with cmd. a.
I then go to the services menu and send it to Itunes as spoken text option
With in thirty seconds it says it is done, but it is definitely not. I am not
sure what is going on. Is not all of the text being selected?
Any help anyone could offer on this perplexing problem would be appreciated.

Re: Blind Mice Mart Movie Vault

2012-11-01 Thread -

An additionalcouple of thoughts on these movie sound tracks.

Because it is slow I do the download overnight or during another time when
away from the computer anyway. One can judge the time by the download
speed and the total file size. It is in the couple of hour range as I
recall. There is no need to pay for a faster download.

Also because they are mp3 audio files they can be played on the nls book
player. Just put them on a thumb drive and use it in the side port.

External Blu Ray DVD/CD CDR or CDRW

2012-11-01 Thread Marc Rocheleau
Hey all,

I am most likely getting a brand spankin' new iMac when they start
shipping in December (I'm only going for the 21" so I'll be waiting a
bit longer) and heard that neither version will have a built-in CD/DVD
drive. I was wondering if anyone knew of a good external drive that
can play Blu Ray DVDs and also play/write CDs and DVDs. I don't
totally need to write Blue Rays and want to play them with the
external at least but need to have CD read and write capabilities
above all.

Lower prices are prefered but any suggestions for something that meets
the criteria listed above would be grately appreciated. Thanks in
advance!

Why are you waiting until December for the iMac if you're getting a 21.5"

The 27" machines come out in December.

Just curious.

2012-11-01 Thread Brian Fischler
Thanks for that suggestion but I don't have a NLF plater, having gone
blind mostly over the past three years I just got my Apple products.
Just an FYI for anyone, all of my movies in the mp3 format have now
appeared on my Iphone after being dim for about 8 hours, so it must
just take some time for them to transfer through Itunes Match. At
least now I don't have to sit at my computer to listen to them, and I
can take them wherever I go.

Hello Amber,

I've just tested this and it's working fine for me. When you did the upgrade to
Mountain Lion, did you do a clean install or did you install it on top of Lion?

Another question: have you repaired permissions lately? It's amazing how much
it can help.

windows 7 64 bit drivers

2012-11-01 Thread Chris Bruinenberg
Hi all.
I'm installing windows 7 64 bit on my computer through boot camp.
I've sucessfully installed win 7 and i got to the drivers installing portion.
I've made a disk of my drivers but when i put the disk in and hit setup it
tells me that the drivers don't work.
I've remade the disk several times.
does anybody have suggestions?
Does bootcamp not support win 7 64 bit on the macbook pro 2012?
Thanks.

New Apple Wireless Keyboard

2012-11-01 Thread Chris
I received this today after only ordering it yesterday. I got it
directly from Apple.
It was very easy to set up. Just press the one and only large round
button on the top right hand side to put it in pairing or discovery
mode. Then on my iPhone 4 I went to settings, bluetooth, bluetooth to
turn it on. While in there the keyboard was detected and was marked not
paired. I thus double tapped on the keyboard and it started to connect.
I was then asked to type the pairing code onto my keyboard then press
the return key. The pairing then completed and was successful.
It is extremely responsive and comfortable to type on. The keys are
raised and large enough for me. Basically if you have a standard mac or
PC keyboard, then you should be right at home. Only with this keyboard
your control key is the second key in from the bottom left, along with,
in this order, option and command, which replaces alt and windows
respectively. This is exactly the same on a Macbook/Macbook Pro/Macbook
Air keyboard.
I was able to update my status on Facebook and Twitter directly from the
keyboard, as well as navigate my iPhone 4. I was even able to remove
apps from the app switcher directly from the keyboard. I can also
control media playback if I wish.
Now my advice is if you are going to be away from it for some time,
press and hold the one and only large round button on the top right hand
side for about 4 seconds. This will completely switch off the keyboard.
Now providing bluetooth is still on, the next time you press the above
button, they will be automatically paired. Not sure what would happen if
I turn the keyboard off and then turn bluetooth off.
Hope this is a good review of the amazing Apple Wireless Keyboard. It
was certainly worth the £60.

Sharing is everywhere

Hi all,

I'm enjoying how much sharing is built into Mountain Lion.

I was in a Bean document, (basically a text doc.) I hit command-A to select
all of my text, then vo-shift-M, sharing was one of my options. I could
message, email, Facebook, etc. the text I had copied.

I actually found this more handy than the messages app.

Re: New Apple Wireless Keyboard

2012-11-01 Thread Scott Berry

Thanks Chris I am looking at this keyboard so yes this was very helpful.

On 11/1/2012 03:33 PM, Chris wrote:
I received this today after only ordering it yesterday. I got it
directly from Apple.
It was very easy to set up. Just press the one and only large round
button on the top right hand side to put it in pairing or discovery
mode. Then on my iPhone 4 I went to settings, bluetooth, bluetooth to
turn it on. While in there the keyboard was detected and was marked
not paired. I thus double tapped on the keyboard and it started to
connect. I was then asked to type the pairing code onto my keyboard
then press the return key. The pairing then completed and was successful.
It is extremely responsive and comfortable to type on. The keys are
raised and large enough for me. Basically if you have a standard mac
or PC keyboard, then you should be right at home. Only with this
keyboard your control key is the second key in from the bottom left,
along with, in this order, option and command, which replaces alt and
windows respectively. This is exactly the same on a Macbook/Macbook
Pro/Macbook Air keyboard.
I was able to update my status on Facebook and Twitter directly from
the keyboard, as well as navigate my iPhone 4. I was even able to
remove apps from the app switcher directly from the keyboard. I can
also control media playback if I wish.
Now my advice is if you are going to be away from it for some time,
press and hold the one and only large round button on the top right
hand side for about 4 seconds. This will completely switch off the
keyboard. Now providing bluetooth is still on, the next time you press
the above button, they will be automatically paired. Not sure what
would happen if I turn the keyboard off and then turn bluetooth off.
Hope this is a good review of the amazing Apple Wireless Keyboard. It
was certainly worth the £60.

Re: External Blu Ray DVD/CD CDR or CDRW

2012-11-01 Thread Marc Rocheleau
Whoops, my bad -- I got the dates mixed up. :P

I do need to wait for an assessment from the government either way
though. I live in Canada and the province I'm in has government
programs that cover pretty much the full cost of any new computer with
assistive technology. I am elligeable every five-years, pending
assessment and approval.

So that's when I am going to make the switch from a PC to a Mac... and
when I'll need the sort of optical drive I'm looking for.

it only goes to the server at your house.
i believe you can send a public address it would then go to those who are
able to connect.
you should use http://www.listen2myradio.com for streaming.
   it's free.
use shoultcast and set it up.
then you can give everyone your listen2myradio link and they can tune in.
you can get 5thousand listeners for free. you will have to pay if you want
more.
they are really good. I use to use them back when I ran a small station but
that's another story for another time. I never had to pay a thing. just be sure
when you are done streaming to go into it and turn off your listen2myradio
server or you will have to reset it meaning you will have to reconfigure nice
cast again.
   hope this helps

Re: Best GPS for me?

2012-11-01 Thread Ilkka Pirttimaa
Hello! When you have searched the target (by category list, search, recent
places or My Places) and you are on page that shows name, address, phone
number etc. (what information exists for that place), there are two buttons:

1) "Start Tracking": BS starts to report constantly distance and clock face
direction where the place is. This is not "turn-by-turn"
2) "Plan a route": BS finds what navigation apps you have installed and you
can start Navigon, TomTom, MotionX or Apple Maps to navigate to selected
target. BS will stay on background reporting street crossings and POIs
