Re: Losses of Speech or Crashes in Mountain Lion
Hi, Just wondering if you upgraded from Lion or did a fresh install? I saw this behavior on my mini during the beta cycle and never did get a resolution out of Apple for it. I had it occur after the release and it seemed to get better after 10.8.1 was released. The command f5 trick that Ricardo suggested worked well for me too. Here's the thing though. I was having some other issues that caused me to nuke and pave my system. Since then I have not had any problem with this. I know it's a hassle but you might consider a fresh install. American HQ voice not working
Hi all, I have a query. I had to reset my iPhone due to some reason and since then, I haven't been able to get the American HQ voice to work. Apps not working
Hi all, I have been facing another issue about which I wrote a few days ago. Whenever I connect my iPhone to my Mac, for charging, transferring songs or for whatever reason, all the third party apps stop working after I disconnect my phone from my Mac. They stop working in the sense that the screen merely blinks after I tap twice on the icon of the app concerned and then returns back to how it was before. Usually, removing and installing a few of the apps fixes the issue as all apps start working perfectly again after doing that. Has anyone here faced a similar issue? Why does this happen, and how can I permanently fix this extremely frustrating issue? Introducing myself

Since then, I have been waiting for my membership to be approved. I want to thank Cara for figuring everything out so I could be approved. I feel I am much more independent now that I have my Mac. I am a slower learner, but I am getting the hang of it and love it so much more than JaWS. It is great to be on this mailing list. I am excited to learn more about the Mac. Again, thank you, Cara, for all you did for me. God bless you all. Christine -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. SSD can be expensive to add, but the advantages I have found is the speed in which the system boots up or returns from sleep. Also, copying or moving files and folders on the system is quite fast as well. I have 512 GB of SSD in my Mac Book Pro, and I find it worth the money. Take Care John D. Hi, I went with Kingston for my SSD. So far, so good. I purchased a 240GB drive. I also took out my optical drive and replaced it with the original Hard drive that came in my Macbook pro. Macbook Pro keeps dropping wifi connection
Hi folks: All of a sudden, today, my MBP, late 2009 model, still running SL, keeps dropping its wifi connection. When I check it in the system menu, VO M twice quickly, it says it is still connected to my home network, but Safari or Webkit just sits there. I turn airport off and then back on and it will work again for a few minutes, and then lose connection again. I got AT Uverse a couple of months ago, but it has worked great until today. Other windows machines on the network seem to be keeping their connections just fine. I told my computer to forget the network and reestablished it, but still the same story. This is hugely frustrating. I'll appreciate any ideas. Thanks! Kim -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. Is your Air trying to connect to another hot spot that's not allowing connectivity? Have you tried changing the channel of your router?--probably not a solution, as your other machines are connect3ed. Re: Macbook Pro keeps dropping wifi connection
I removed all remembered networks. I recycled the modem and router. We'll see what happens. It seems like I can switch about f5 or 6 web pages, and then it just drops out. It still shows as connected in the airport menu and in system prefs, but no internet. Let's pray it stays connected since I did the reboot of the router and modem. Someone had also set a speaker right next to the router, which had not been there before. I moved that too. I hope there's nothing wrong with the wifi device in my MBP. I know things can interfere with the signal, but nothing has really changed around here, except for that speaker that I just moved. Re: Macbook Pro keeps dropping wifi connection
Yes; they're probably the most frustrating and gut-wrenching of computer issues; knowing there's a big net full of people out there that you can't connect to when you should be able to. :) Hope it continues to work, and yes, that was the check box I was so incoherently muttering about. BTW, a person with an Iphone on another list had the same problem with her Iphone and Linksys router; don't think she's solved it yet, and I know it's not the same as an Air, but I thought there might be a commonality. • Mark BurningHawk Baxter • AIM, Skype and Twitter: BurningHawk1969 • MSN: burninghawk1...@hotmail.com • My home page: • http://MarkBurningHawk.net/ -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. Hi, I don't believe such a feature exists on the Mac. At least, not built in. In system preferences/energy saver, under schedule, all you can do is set start/wake up times, and sleep times. hth Ricardo Walker rica...@appletothecore.info Twitter:@apple2thecore www.appletothecore.info On Sep 1, 2012, at 8:25 PM, Jane wrote: > Is there some way you can tell a Mac to shut down at a particular time, and > have it stick to that time each day If so, how do you program it in? Re: Shutting down Mac
Good Day: If you go into System Preferences > Energy Saver and go to near the bottom of the window (close to the lock buttons), you will find a button called "Schedule…" which, when clicked, opens a dialog allowing one to set a time for the Mac to sleep or shut down and start up automatically, which I think is what your friend wants. Re: Logitech Media Server
Hi Marc, It's an amazing piece of software that I use everyday to play and manage the music of my whole home. You can use a lighter interface that is totally accessible. Just append /classic/ to the URL you use to access your interface. E.g.: http://127.0.0.1:9000/classic/ You can also use an app called iPeng on your iPhone, the developer made an amazing job to make it 100% accessible. It's impressive! A few years ago I developed an application to remote control the server using your voice. It responded to some microphones and phones I had in the house. I stopped it since it started going off randomly. hahaha Enjoy! On Aug 29, 2012, at 1:47 PM, Marc Sutton wrote: > Hello, > I recently installed this software to control my Squeezebox Classic. Re: Shutting down Mac
Good day: In the scheduling window, there are two checkboxes. The first one is for "startup or wake", and the second is unlabelled. If you check the second box and vo-right, you will find a popup button which is set to sleep. If you bring up the popup menu, however, "shut down" is one of the options. Re: Caps Lock to VO keys and more
Eric, Finally got a chance to install and setup these two apps. Great find and I love it. Since I am still on a Windows box on my 9to5, I always used the CapsLock with the screen reader. I am so use to it, and it is so productive. I assumed there was some legal issue as to why Apple did not implement this. Thanks. Re: Caps Lock to VO keys and more
I don't think it's a legal thing at all. Rather, I suspect it's a standards thing; apple started it that way, so rather than change an integral part of their UI for a group of users, they kept it. Just my thoughts, and I could be wrong. Still, if there were a legal issue, then NAVDA wouldn't use caps lock, yet that is an option in that program. Hi. I follow the steps for the key remapping program, and it worked perfectly, at least for my mac Bluetooth keyboard. On my PC keyboard, but what I want to use, it had a different effect. The caps lock key still does nothing, and the application key to the right of the alt key is now the VO key. Is there some way I can get this working on my PC keyboard as well? Re: Caps Lock to VO keys and more
Right, I think Apple decided to go to do things the way they did because they didn't want voiceover hijacking your keyboard like screenreaders on windows do. So, they made the modifier 2 keys instead of one.
