for developers
Hello, I have a developers-account for osx so , I am testing 10.8 build 12a178q I have discovered that some bugs of the current release of 10.7.4 aren't fixed yet in the last build. Some of the bugs are: 1. I can't still import older vo-prefs files even if I put them on a usb-disc and let them import automatically when voiceover (re)starts. Could I find a log-file of the import-action somewhere? 2. rotor in html-documents: It can be very difficult sometimes to select links in a html-document like a html-mail. I was wondering if it's a bug or not that the rotor is not working in such mail messages. 3. The routing buttons on a braille-device are not always responding by selecting a letter n a mail (this should not only work with read-write test but also with read-only test)? 4. the nuance speech bug for mail-addresses, websites and, in global, all strings with a . in the string , is not solved. So: Where can I report this bugs on developer.apple.com on a voiceover-friendly way? kind regards, William -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. Re: Renaming Files
Hi Eric, Thanks for all of your comments on this. I tried the Duplicate option but did not appear to receive an option for renaming the document. However, in Pages, there is an Export Option off the file menu, and by default, .rtf is thee selection, which is what I want. After Choosing the Next Button, I can then rename the document and tab over to the Export Button which accomplishes what I wish. So I think that's the route I will take. NOte that Command-Shift S doesn't work any more, I'm guessing that's a change in Lion? That would have been easy if that keystroke did work. Think I'll write Apple Accessibility and ask them to bring that back. Re: mail account assistance
You should see if the mail provider supports ESMT. A large number of ISP's block SMTP servers that they don't control in order to control SPAM. With ESMTP you need to login when sending as well as receiving mail, so ISP's don't block it. It is always useful to look at the connnection doctor for Mail to figure out what is happening in these cases. If you need additional help, look in the windows menu for connection doctor and let me know what the account you are working with says there. Maintaining contacts and calendars question
Hi all, Probably the answer to this question is quite obvious, but I am seeking your opinion, because I don't want to do any damage. I have an MBP, iPad and 4S. I would like my contacts and calendars and notes, to appear on all of them. When I just had the Mac and a 3GS, I did not use iCloud. This was really because when in my windows days a few months back, I wanted to use outlook for keeping a record of my contacts and calendars etc, iCloud became a massive duplication. This was very annoying. So I switched off iCloud and left a pc and then my mac and the iPhone to do their thing. However, for some reason now, I am having issues syncing my contacts and calendar properly. I think it must be something to do with my iTunes. Can anyone help? I have recently used the multi edit app to sort out and organise my contacts on my iPhone. These are not transferring to my iPad when I sync with iTunes. It just has the old ones which have an extra 30 or 40 contacts I do not need. Also, they are not syncing with my Mac. My address book is the same as it was last week. Should I change a setting in iTunes? Or should I just use iCloud and have it sort it all out for me. I'm worried about having duplications again then. But, my major concern is my calendar, I have everything on there, and I take it everywhere with me. However, I need it to sync on all the machines so that wherever I am I have a clear record of what I need to be doing. Is it likely, because my contacts are not syncing properly, that my calendar is doing the same? I am worried that if I use iCloud, I will end up losing everything. Although iTunes is a pain, I know I can always get things back, if I lose things, like I did last weekend. If I use iTunes, what do I need to make sure my settings are in order for it to work properly? When I checked the sync contacts etc box in iTunes, there are lots of other checkboxes, and they seem to appear twice, four example notes, calendar, and contacts, do I need to check them multiple times in order for it to work properly? Which is my dominant machine? For example my most up-to-date calendars and notes and contacts are on my iPhone, but does my Mac think that it is the one in charge? Is there a way of getting it so that whenever I sync to my iPhone it replaces it on all of the machines so that that is always the latest version? Is this what iCloud will do? I am terrified of having multiple different versions of calendars and contacts et cetera and then ending up with the wrong set at the wrong time. What should I do? How do I sort out my settings? I have sent this to both lists, so sorry for the duplications for people. Many thanks Kirsten Sent from my iPhone -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. Mail problem
Hi all, A couple of days ago, I tried to delete all the messages in Mail by selecting all of them and then pressing the 'delete' button in the toolbar. VO kept saying 'busy' for a long time after that. Since yesterday, I have been observing that whenever I open Mail, I am only able to view the messages of one ID and not of the other ID which is also added to Mail. I am only able to view those messages of the other ID which I received before selecting and deleting all the messages. For the last few messages in that other ID, VO says 'blank' for subject, from, body and all. I even tried deleting both the accounts and adding them again, but that also didn't work. So, how can I change the settings to what they were before I tried to delete all the messages? Please suggest a way using which I'll be able to read all the latest messages in my inbox from both IDs. Re: VO getting stuck on certain webpages?
No problem Will, glad I could help! Yeah as with all technology things will work other will break! As long as you found something that works for you then that's all well and good! Oh while I remember, I've just had a thought. Are you using safari? If so, do you know about the developer menu at all? You have to turn it on in the advance tab of system preps with command comma. It should be a check box. Once this is turned on it will be in the menu bar and it is under user agent which you want. Basically if you are in counting problems with a particular website with this thing that I've described you can change it to internet explorer firefox and another I can't remember. This is the sort of thing that might work with your link problem with voiceover. I know because I have had the same problem on the RNIB website when I was looking at the description of a book. I changed it to IE8 and it clicked the link. As a side note, when you quit safari, and open it again it will default to safari again. Hope this helps. Re: VO getting stuck on certain webpages?
Interesting idea, I'll keep that in mind. Got the same problem this morning, only found that this time I couldn't get away from the toolbar using VO at all. All I could use was tab and enter to navigate links, which is okay I guess, but I couldn't actually read any text that wasn't a link. Even weirder is that this only happened in full-screen mode; didn't experience a problem when not in full-screen (at least not yet). Not sure what that's about. Thanks again for your help. Re: help with iMovie again
Hi, This is how I add a title. Music is a little different and I will tell you that next. Go to the center toolbar and interact with it. From there scroll to the add title button and press it. Stop interacting with the center toolbar and scroll right until you get to the title area. Interact with this and scroll right a few clicks to pass some theme settings and you will find the list of different types of titles. I use copy and paste here but you can drag and drop also. From here, with the title copied or being drug, stop interacting with the title area and move left back to the project browser. From there scroll to timeline and interact with it and then interact with the clip list. Hi is where you will paste or drop your title. If done correctly a window will open where you select the background color you want. After that you will be taken to the window where you type the words you want to show up. I usually do my title after the video has been but into the clip list in the project browser because when you drop a second item it will be put into the first position. so basically you have to work backwards. Video then title. Music is almost the same as the title. Select the music button in the center toolbar and scroll to it just like with the titles. Find the iTunes song or sounds effect you want and press command C to copy it. Drag it up to the broodiest browser, then to your timeline, then to the multiple sliders area. Interact with the Play head indicator and move it to 0 seconds if you want the music to begin immediately and paste the music there. I know this sounds like a lot but once you have a basic understanding of the layout I swear it is easy. I can record, edit, and post a video in like 5 minutes nowadays. Remember to use the I key to open the inspector on out title before posting to check the duration. Default is 4 seconds but sometimes it has randomly changed on me in the past. Hope this helps! Re: help with iMovie again
I forgot to answer your second question in all my ranting. I need to try this out but someone told me that option left or right arrow while in the clip list will move the order around, just like moving items in the dock. It makes sense. Let me know if it works and if I get to it first I will let you know. cheers! Re: How to make a word a URL
I use the program Mars Edit for my blogging. In a post I can select a word, right click it, click the Format option and add a URL. I did a few links to YouTube videos the worked just fine but when I tried to link strait to my channel at www.youtube.com/eyelessguy1987 it didn't work. Same thing with trying to link to www.twitter.com/howtobeblind. It always puts ww.howtobeblind.com before the YouTube or Twitter URLs. Or at least call Apple Care if it's really new or you bought Apple Care. My wife's MacBook was overheating and we had to send it in for a new "heatpipe" among other things. Re: help with iMovie again
Hello; I think that helped a lot. I was able to create a title, now i just need someone to look at it and see how i did so i can get an idea of what to do in the future. Which title do you prefer? i chose the center title with a black background. haven't tried music yet, that's next. can you have more than one title. Say you want a general intro title followed by a episode name number title. and on the music, how do i set the length it will play before my video starts. thanks, max On Jun 8, 2012, at 1:18 PM, Blinkin wrote: > Hi, > This is how I add a title. Re: How to make a word a URL
When creating HTML links, you need to include the protocol URI as well as the address itself. In other words, put http:// before your links, and they will work fine. Otherwise, they're seen as links relative to the current page. -- James Scholes http://twitter.com/JamesScholes -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group.
