Re: Delete and forward delete.
Hi Jenny, Gigi, Stacey, and Others, The shortcut combinations that Colin lists of Fn+Delete to forward delete a character, Fn+Option+Delete to forward delete a word, and Option+Delete to delete the previous word will work for the Apple Wireless Keyboard, any Mac laptop keyboard, and any full-sized Apple keyboard made after 2008, but only when you are typing on a Mac. You cannot use these shortcut key combinations when you have paired an Apple Wireless Keyboard to an iOS device. The Fn and Option keys you type will be ignored, and only the Delete key will take effect, at least at the present time with any iOS system up through 5.1. Basically, keyboard combinations with the "Fn" key remain undefined for iOS devices up through the present time. The iPad Keyboard Dock that was designed for the first generation iPad does not even have an "Fn" key included on the bottom row of keys. On a laptop keyboard, some keys that are present on a full-size Apple keyboard are represented with "Fn" key combinations. So the "Home", "End", "Page Up", and "Page Down" keys are typed by pressing the "Fn" key in combination with the left, right, up, and down arrow keys, respectively. If you enter keyboard help mode with VO-k, and type these Fn-key combinations, you'll hear VoiceOver say "Home", "End", etc. If you press Fn+delete you'll hear "Forward Delete" and Fn+return gives "Enter". Press the escape key to exit keyboard practice mode. Note that when you try the same action of entering keyboard help mode on an Apple Wireless Keyboard paired to an iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad, pressing the "Fn" key combinations do not get announced as special keys. If you want to forward delete a character in iOS using your paired Bluetooth keyboard, you'd have to press Shift+right arrow to select/highlight the next character and then press delete. Similarly, to forward delete a word in iOS, you'd have to hold down the Shift key for selecting, then additionally press the option+right arrow keys to advance your selection to the end of the word, then release these keys and press the delete key. HTH. Re: Please help, headers in Lion Mail.
Hi all. Apple care helped me with a solution to the header problem. I feel like an idiot for not trying such a simple solution lol. I'll outline it for those who may have this issue in the future. First, make sure that you hit the show details link in the header group. Next, scroll down the header text to where the email addresses are shown. Finally, find the place where it says "and X more" with X being a number. When you're there, VO Shift space to click this area. The email addresses will magically appear. Then, you can do what you want with them. If the VO shift space does not work, you may need to route the mouse with a VO command F5 and then VO shift space. I really love apple care right now. Re: sharing tip for rewinding music in iTunes with keyboard
I see that the link is split over two lines. I'm not at home now but what I recall is having the cursor sitting somewhere on the first line of that URL and opening the context menu and choosing "Open URL." Is there a way to get Mail to keep a URL that is split over two lines together? I thought that worked the other day on another message but apparently it did not here. Furthermore, while here at work using Firefox 10 on a Win XP machine, tabbing to Tim's URL appears to only treat the first part (first line) of the link as a "link" Do I have to select both lines to create the proper link? Re: Mobi to epub or HTML.
None of you found ebook-convert which comes with calibre? I don't have a mac, but this should work: go to your terminal, cd to the right place, and do: ebook-convert file.mobi .epub If your shell can't find it, just specify its path. Once done, it'll put an epub in the same place you ran it from. Obviously, this won't work with drm infested mobi files. HI Ricardo, I wish it worked that way for Snow Leopard too. Even if I set the sound output to the internal built in speaker and reboot, it goes back to a different output during log in.
