transferring OS Lion

2012-04-21 Thread Rahul Bajaj
Hi all,

I recently purchased a new MacBook Air which has OS Lion installed on it.
So, can I transfer the operating system to my other MacBook which has Snow
Leopard.
I don't use a credit card, so there's no other way for me to install OS Lion on
my MacBook.

Please do let me know whether I can do this or not.

Cheers,
Rahul

Hi,

I think one way you could possibly go about doing this is buy making a time
machine backup of your macbook air then, restoring from that backup on your
other Mac.

mac, twitter: help on yorufukurou

2012-04-21 Thread Elena Brescacin
Hello all,
I am here to ask a simple question about the wonderfully accessible twitter
client called yorufukurou.
I manage to perform all actions, except for following and unfollowing users!
Well, knowing the exact username of person you want to follow and unfollow,
it's quite simple. just open a new tweet and write, follow username. or
unfollow username.
But I think, this client has some kind of menu which would allow you to perform
such actions. Follow, unfollow, block
How to reach these actions?
Assume I am on the time line, or on the window that opens pressing command+u,
to go to a specific user typing his name
I just read on applevis.com that there is a drawer reachable via "command
option apostrophee", but, as I do not have an american keyboard, I do not know
what they meant
if backslash or some other key
  please let me know!
thanks

I've always wanted to know what the drawer was for, and still can't figure out,
even though someone emailed it to me last night I think, how to get the delete
function to go off dim.

It's not morning and I've forgotten. Also, Why do my messages come back after
deleting my log, when I refresh my messages?

I know, some people would say I highjacked the subject, but it has to do with,
however you spell it.

Re: mac, twitter: help on yorufukurou

2012-04-21 Thread Lewis Alexander
the drawer used in this app gives you details of the user who has sent a direct
message, tweet, etc, this also allows you to block and report a spammer in 1
action. a very useful function I found when the free macs for the blind charity
was running, especially where twitter was used to promote the project.

as regards deleting messages, messages come back to you anyway, it's the way
twitter as a system is.

Why Does Spotlight Suddenly Stop Working?

2012-04-21 Thread Christine Grassman
The subject basically says it all. About ten percent of the time, when I
attempt to use Sotlight, it just doesn't work. Whatever is on the screen at the
time is spoken -- I have to restart the Mac in order for Spotlight to work
again. Sometimes, it will work successfully a few times in a row, then when I
try to use it, nothing. Has anyone experienced this, and if so, is there a
better way than restarting the computer to get it to work properly again?
Thanks.

Most of the info being spoken about is freely available on the Apple site. No

if you have acquired mountain lion through the developer preview on apple's
website, you are obviously registered as a developer, therefore you have signed
as part of your terms and conditions, an agreement which is referred to as a
Non Disclosure Agreement (NDA) which you have breached by publicising certain
information to an open forum over the internet.

for those of us concerned by this, I do not believe that this conversation
should continue.

on this board, there are official apple staff who participate directly or
indirectly as well as acquire feedback to resolve problems in the OS and
voiceover.

You are so wrong you have no idea. There is no public beta and you do sign a
nondisclosure agreement when you are a beta tester either invited or pay to be

Re: OS X Mountain Lion

2012-04-21 Thread Lewis Alexander
Apple has provided sample information regarding the forthcoming release of this
software, however, as a developer, you are forbidden to disclose any other
information regarding the software other than what has been openly promoted by
the manufacturer. this includes any code, application issues, etc associated
with the media in question, broadcast of data, files, etc.

as mentioned earlier by myself and by Cara the moderator, this discussion is
now no longer being entertained as this issue is against site guidelines and
could harm the reputation of the forum we're striving to keep alive.

As an application developer, you are advised to study the terms and conditions
CLOSELY and as part of this, a non disclosure agreement bound to your username.
As a developer you pay per year a subscription to gain access to private domain
data including pre release software including updates and alpha ware software
where developers are working tirelessly to improve the software stability,
accessibility and usability.

As I have stated before, anyone can register as a developer but paying an
annual subscription fee would be pointless just for "free software" to "play
with"

As a developer, you're responsible in terms of providing feedback, assisting
with problem fixes, alterations, additional code, etc. I'm signed up and have
to follow the rules like anyone else.

Sorry but this forum needs to be kept in the LEGAL realms here and not
entertaining discussions about alpha or beta software tied to a company for
Developers only.

yours with concern.

Little Snitch

2012-04-21 Thread Scott Howell
Has anyone used Little Snitch and if so under Lion? I downloaded the trial, but
I was not able to access the setup screen in the configuration program. The
window appears to be blank which makes me wonder if there is some prompt that
VO is not seeing.
ANd since I know someone will ask what Little Snitch is, basically you can
watch outbound connections. If you are that curious, go check out
http://www.obdev.at/products/littlesnitch/index.html and you will learn all you
ever wanted to know.
The software is not free and in fact costs about $30; however, the trial will
run for three hours and you can run it in demo mode for as long as you like,
but you will have to restart every three hours.

Hi,

Yes you can do that in activities. I don't see why it isn't a good idea if
that's what you want to do. To turn on Quick nav in your activity, check
additional settings to include and then the option to enable quick nav for your
activity will be available.

Veronica, yes this is possible if you are using Lion. I have a similar setup
for Safari.

Subject: Activities used to turn on Quick Nav?

Hi everyone!
I was wondering if one can use activities to do something like automatically
turning on Quick Nav when I start Safari, as I seem to use it there quite a
bit. If this is possible, any reason why this might not be such a grand idea?
Thanks so much.

Veronica

Re: bluetooth braille display resolved virtually.

2012-04-21 Thread Kawal Gucukoglu
Hello Les.

What I did was to have the latest VM installed. then, go in to windows, search
for add bluetooth device, and make sure the bluetooth virtual adaptor was
installed. then add a device and my braille display was found. I then got
windows to make a pairing code. The display was connected. then went in to the
properties by pressing shift F10. went to the bluetooth tab. Noted what port it
was using such as Com 5.

(You will note however, that bluetooth is still disconnected on your braille
display).

Then go into jaws, options braille.

If your braille display is not showing in the list, due to it being a different
display from FS displays, make sure you have gone to the manufacturers website
and download the appropriate driver.

then, find your braille display in the list and follow the instructions, making
sure you connect to the right poart such as com5 which was in my case.

Let me know how this goes for you.

Kawal.
