Re: SpellCheck in Pages
Hello Mark, Throughout the iWork suite, there is a level of accessibility for VoiceOver that is missing. Commands concerning text attributes don't work, although you can sample the current text attributes with VO-t. This has been reported to the iWork team over and over again, but another voice added to the chorus would be welcome. As for actually doing the spell check, use Cmd-Semicolon and the next misspelt word will be highlighted. Cheers, Anne On 29 Jan 2012, at 00:22, M. Anyone else having problems receiving digest emails from the group
Hi, For the past week I don't appear to have been receiving digest email from the group. I've checked my spam folder and they haven't gone there. I've also looked at my mail account online to make sure its not something that could be happening with Apple mail but nothing is showing up under my virginmedia.com mail run through google. If I switch to receive all messages everything works fine. Has anyone any ideas or is there a problem I've missed? numbers chart making
Hi All, and especially Anne :) I've got some charts i need to create on the fly for a system i'm scripting, and checked the charting feature in numbers from selecting cells. It seems straight forwrd at first glance, but i was wondering if there was any value range for axis or other customizations we can access as voice over users. Also, is there a way to overlay 2 or more lines for comparisons? Sure this is for the sighted, but it'd be good to know how it works before i make it look like a birthday cake. Re: Right clicking links on a web page?
I encounter this problem with almost every link. The option return is not a solution as I do not want to download the link. I often just want to open the link in a new window. My mouse cursor is set to follow the VO cursor. Then I do a "right click" with the actual mouse by holding control then clicking the mouse. In my case it's actually a track pad. So, I am just careful to not touch the track pad or moving the mouse cursor. I have an old track pad with an actual button for mouse clicking. Missing blindcooltech, recommendations?
Listers, It seems as though blindcooltech.com is no longer accepting new podcasts and sending them out. Over the last few years I've learned a great deal from this resource and even posted a few podcasts. I first learned about the Victor Reader stream on this podcast, and as a result was reading audio books long before the US library service provided machines. Thanks to this podcast I learned tricks on the National Library Service machines that make them excellent for studying with audio books and podcasts. The set up was great because it provided a single place for multiple providers to donate demonstrations of technology for other visually impaired persons. The diversity of content and providers was great. So, Where can I now post a podcast for you folks that might be interested in technology? What feeds are you folks using? I'm especially interested in those podcasts provided by users who are sharing their knowledge. It is nice to subscribe to one feed that provides content from many people. It would be less productive to subscribe to multiple individual feeds. Further, I am glad to create podcasts but don't have the knowledge or desire to maintain my own site or podcast feed. I hope there is a feed out there that provides this service now that blindcooltech.com is not. Please share your suggestions. Some Jaws keys not working
Hi all, I have had to reinstall my Windows XP VM as I upgraded to VMWare 4 and had some issues. At any rate, I have remapped some of the keys such as the accent key to insert so I have a jaws key on my MBP. When I hit insert J I get the jaws menu. However, when I try to hit Insert left bracket to activate the route jaws to cursor feature, I just hear "left bracket". This happens for the other keys in that general area of the keyboard. Does anybody have any suggestions? I have set my Jaws to use keyboard layout. Thx, Jeff -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. Re: Missing blindcooltech, recommendations?
Hi Jürgen and others, I don't know Larry from blincooltech.com so I don't know what happened but nothing has come out of blindcooltech.com since September. I did upload a podcast recently and it seemed to go through but after some time it still has not showed up. Also, I did write to Larry through the contact feature on the site and got no answer. Also, a few listers have said that they heard there was a announcement about this but I have not directly heard it. So, I'm wondering what I'm missing from those who normally post there. Also, I have some demonstrations I've done and have no way to share them. At least not in the comprehensive way that I could with blindcooltech.com. Currently, I have several demonstrations that show new users how to get more out of list Recorder but don't know where to post them. I just spent over a hour mastering the Reminders App with voice over and planned to do a podcast to save people time but again where would I I post it? eRic Caron On Jan 29, 2012, at 3:18 PM, Jürgen Fleger wrote: > Honnestly: I'm missing Blindcooltech as well. Re: Right clicking links on a web page?
Hi. This doesn't always work for me and I have to use the trackpad to actually get the right click menu. If they don't fix it in 10.7.3, Apple accessibility will be getting another email. In theory, there is no reason why there should be so many problems with VO and Safari. The text and link selection, right click menus, actually being able to use Safari without VO saying "Busy" all of the time, all should be possible while using the proper VO commands. I'd urge any of you who are not at all impressed with VO and Safari to email Apple accessibility. accessibil...@apple.com is the email address. The more feedback they get, the more likely these bugs are to be fixed. Thanks all. Re: Missing blindcooltech, recommendations?
I wonder where that announcement was or is and it would really be nice if it appeared in a logical place, like as a post on the site. It's quite unfortunate if it is no longer going to be supported, and I realize noone has any obligation to do anything with it, but it really would be nice if something was posted. I mean how long could it take to do a quick post? All that most of us know is that it mysteriously went away. Someone must still be paying for the site to be hosted and stay up at the least. efficiently selecting multiple cells in numbers
Hi, I've got a numbers document with 365 cells to paste the atrribute of one cell to. I've tried the shit and arrow method but the more cells are selected the less responsive voice over is. I hate doing repetitive and idiotic hand gestures and before i get on trying a script to do just that and more, does anyone know whether one can select a range of cells, say from current cell to the last cell of that row or column? Any help greatly appreciated Best regards Yuma -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. Getting Notes from Midi
Hi All, On the Mac, does anyone know of any software that will get the notes from a Midi file? On occasion, that's the best way I can find to learn a song. I find a midi of it, and get the notes from it. I used to have software on Windows that would do this, but now I'm on the Mac, and wondering if there are any options here. Re: Some Jaws keys not working
OK. Go into windows and if you are using jaws 12, go into the new Settings centre, and set the insert mode to check, then make sure special caps lock is removed and make it go to the key you want jaws key to be. I did this from memory so I hope it works. If the list have better altermatives please share. Kawal. Hi. Still, it'd be nice if Safari and VO would play nice together so I wouldn't have to jump through hoops to get my files where they need to go. Re: Right clicking links on a web page?
what would be a good compromise as it works well with the save as features is if when clicking the link safari would prompt you as to where you want to save it. Then after the first file it changes the default to the folder you used in your last save as. probably wouldn't be too hard to do for them. take care, max On Jan 29, 2012, at 4:28 PM, Matthew Campbell wrote: Hi. aligning text wit tabs in text edit
Hi all, How does one align text with tabs in text edit? To be more precise,I have a list of pieces and on the same line the composers. Titles are of different lengths so pressing tab you end up needing a different amount of them to get to same place in the line. Hope this makes some sense. With jaws you would hear your position from left margin. Anything similar in lion? Thanks for your help! Thank you Kawal; it is nice to know that I am not missing some vital fine point. Re: SpellCheck in Pages
Hello Ann, Thank you for the reply. This is quite a shame as I find typing with VoiceOver in Pages to be much more snappier than with Text Edit or Mail. Looks like Jaws and I are not soon to part company, just yet. (Big Smile). Re: A Question About Using The TrackPad when Navigating Text in Text Edit, Pages, etc
Hi Mark, Excuse me stating the obvious but, thats often what gets overlooked. lol. Are you interacting with the text? This will often tweek how navigation works I've noticed in text edit. I don't have pages but, figure the same would apply. Ricardo Walker rica...@appletothecore.info Twitter:@apple2thecore www.appletothecore.info On Jan 30, 2012, at 1:21 AM, M. Now, when I do this, VoiceOver does switch between the above stated selections; however, I cannot seem to figure out how to use the setting once it has been changed. That is to say, after hearing that sentence is selected, I attempt to navigate, by sentence, by simply single-finger swiping up, down, left, or right on the trackPad but it does not navigate by sentence.
