Re: Facebook chat and iChat
Hi Venkatesh! You will need Adium and then this should be what you need to do to get Facebook chatting! hth Colin Qapla! 1. go to facebook.com and go to your account! 2. open account settings and select change user name [ even if you do not have one] 3. Facebook should give you some options and just after them will be a more link select it! 4. Now after the options Facebook gives you [I did not like the suggestions for me] there is a edit box where you can put your own name! There is a see if name is available button after you put your choice, if it is available you can have it! If not try another or add a number to the end! [ it might help] 5. When your happy come out of Facebook and open Adium! 6. In Adium on your contacts window open vo+m and go to the file menu! 7. Scroll down to add new account sub menu and arrow right, go down to Jabber and select it! 8. In the new account window is where you'll find those tabs, the first one should be selected just scroll past until you get to where you put your new user name! When you've entered it the next field is your Facebook password! 9. After filling those in go back to the options tab select and scroll to where you put the server name [ as you correctly said ] chat.facebook.com and enter it! 10. go to register new account button and press it! Hi, There are most likely step-by-step instructions somewhere in the archives but the gist of it is as follows: 1. Open Mail. 2. Press cmd-comma to bring up the Preferences. 3. Select the Rules tab in the Toolbar. 4. Navigate right to the Add Rule button and press it. 5. Enter a name for the rule such as MacVisionaries. 6. Navigate to the Criteria scroll area and Interact With it. 7. Enter your criteria. eg. "Any Recipient" "Contains" "MacVisionaries" 8. Stop Interacting With this scroll area and navigate to the Actions scroll area. 9. Interact with it and decide your action. eg. "Move to" "MacVisionaries" where "MacVisionaries" is a mailbox. That should do it. Make sure that you have created the specific Mailbox prior to creating the rule. You can also have multiple criteria if necessary within the Criteria scroll area. HTH. Later... Re: Message rules?
Hello Shannon, Before setting up your rules, you must create your new mailboxes by going to the Mailbox menu and choosing New Mailbox. Once that is done, open Mail Preferences (Command-Comma) and in the toolbar, select Rules. Click on Add Rule and work your way through the options. You might find it useful to clipboard the list name before creating the rule so that you don't have to worry about the spelling. Re: Symphonic Orchestra Jampack for Garage Band
I'd like to know is Jam Pack some kind of software? I've not played with Garage band yet, but if I did, are there instruments already in there? I am thinking of putting something together if there are instruments in garage band but not sure where to start and wonder if its simple. If I could put some tracks together of my own making using Garage Band then that would be a good thing to do! Bearing in mind I have no keyboard as I sold the last one as it was too visual for me. iCal Subscription & Safari Activity
So, the other day I was exploring the website offering iCal calendars to subscribe to. I chose a couple with no problems, however there were 2 that wouldn't work out. 1. Has anyone else had troubles subscribing to calendars? 2. When you do have issues, do you ever clear the Safari Activity? I'm not familiar with this section. Finally, any additional websites offering calendars to subscribe to? I must say, I'm loving the calendar experience on my Mac/iPhone. I've never really kept a calendar, and lol, I've learned, I was meant to all along! :) Thanks, Traci Sent by Macbook Air Mail -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. Re: Symphonic Orchestra Jampack for Garage Band
Hi Nektarios, I am using midi for the instruments. My interface is an MAudio Key Studio 49 key model. It works very well, and it has buttons to change octaves of the instruments. For the voice, I'm using a Blue Yeti USB microphone which has three different patterns, stereo, mono with two spaces, and mono with one space. The best part about that mic is that there is a head phone jack on it which will let you hear not only the sound from the mic itself, but which will pass along the output of GarageBand so that you can sing or whatever without hearing a delay which is usual with a usb connection.
Re: tagging people on Facebook?
hello Donna: When I'm ready to tag a friend, I put an @ symbol and start typing my friend's name. After a few letters, I VO right twice to get to the list of name (and or pages) that begin with those letters. I interract with the list and mouse-click the desired name. This method didn't work for me the first few times; but, it has proven effective now. HTH, Ezzie Ez - Original Message - From: "Goodin, Donna" Hey Colin, thanks. I'll give this a shot. Re: Pages on the iPhone P.S.
Hi, If you create them on the iPhone, and you have an iCloud account, then they are automatically put into your iCloud space. If you create the file on your Mac, you can get them on your phone in a couple of ways, either via the Apps pane in iTunes when your iPhone is connected to your computer or over the air via the Mobile Documents folder that resides in the Library folder of your Home directory. Once the document has been opened by the iPhone though, it can no longer be opened by your Mac unless you save it back to the Mac using the Apps pane in iTunes when it is connected to your Mac. The over the air part of iCloud seems to only be useful between iDevices or between Macs themselves. HTH. Later... On 2011-12-31, at 5:47 AM, Gigi wrote: > For got to ask the other thing. Wifi Weirdness on Mac Mini and Lion
Hi, all, Happy New Year to everybody. I have a strange problem that's popped up in the last couple of weeks. I used to see "Airport" in the status menu. I use wifi with my router and a WPA2 personal security setting. I can get on just fine, but now I see nothing about "airport:; just "Wifi"." Also, every time I log out, the wifi shuts off and won't reconnect on its own when I log back into my user account. It always says "no signal" unless I change it. Is this a Lion setting that's changed, or a hardware setting? I must admit I don't know much about "airport." Is it a piece of hardware or software? Re: Using control right and left arrows under fusion and windows 7
I am using version 4.1.1-536016. I so want to get this to work! On Dec 31, 2011, at 1:57 PM, Sean Murphy wrote: Hi, What version of Fusion? Since I do not have this problem. I am using Lion and Fusion 3.1x. My configuration is that I make the VM guess OS window a full screen by pressing control + option + enter. Then the control arrows plus the normal arrows work fine. In fact, I do not recall if having the guess window in normal window size has an issue either. In preferences you can swap around the keys. You can tell Fusion to disregard all MAC shortcut keys which I have done. I have even swapped the option and command keys around to make it feel more like windows. I have used the windows remapping program that everyone has previously mention. This app I only remapped one key for the Insert. Otherwise I haven't done anything else. You can force the external keyboards to have full control within the guess OS. The external keyboard is then regarded as a windows keyboard and isn't seen by Lion. Re: FaceBook iphone replacement app
Hi Been using facebook for iphone app since i got my iphone which is end of 2010 and found it pretty accessible. Yes, it can be better, but i'm not aware of any inaccessible issue at all. sometime it plays up, particularly when we upgreat from IOS4 to IOS5. but soon after, facebook did another update on their app, now its all right. not 100% perhaps, but i would say i can do 90% of the tasks without any major issue. Re: siri proxy server
Marlaina Lieberg wrote: > What kinds of things will siri control? Would it control an ir tv remote for > example? There is, quite literally, no limit to what you can make Siri do with the Siri proxy and your own plug-ins. You could make it draw your kurtains, turn off your lights and lower the volume of your music if you so desired, followed by posting a tweet saying you were going to bed. But as I stated in a message early yesterday morning, it takes in-depth knowledge of programming concepts, the Ruby programming language, and the APIs (if any) offered by the products/services that you want to control. And all that comes after you've managed to get the proxy up and running, which in itself is no easy task. There are tutorials for those who already have a Linux/OS X machine to run it on, but from what I've seen they are heavily geared towards those with a knowledge of the command line, DNS and other network configuration, etc. > This is really fascinating, but I am at the proxy server for dummies level, > LOL! help needed with mass mailing with apple mail and gmail
Greetings, I am belatedly trying to send out seasons greetings to everyone in my addressbook that have an email address. For this purpose I have greated a smart group containing all cards that have an @ sign in any field. I ended up with about 500 recipients. I tried to send my message but gmail said that for many of these addresses the message could not be delivered. I know for a fact that some of them work for sure. What are my options? Is it because of too many recipients? Is there a way to brake up the list in a comprehensive way? Or should I worry about possible wrong characters at and of mail address? But then again they work separately or some do for sure. A friend mentioned that he worked with unix to cleen up the big mailinglists and the uploaded them to gmail contacts. Any help or suggestions are as always very appreciated! Happy 2012 to all of you!
