Re: bible desk top clients?

Why not try macsword/elocant.

  Hi,

Unfortunately, I have not found any bible study software that is very
accessible at all. However I have found a solution which is almost as good for
me, and some might consider it to be better.

Optasia ministries offers a free library of bible study material in
alternative formats for blind people.. The library comes on a DVD, and you can
copy the files to your hard drive to study whenever you want, or just read from
the dvd. This library contains many different bible translations, and more
commentaries and other reading material than you'll ever know what to do with.
The files are mostly in RTF format that you can read in textedit, or in html
format. At their web site, you can read a full list of what is included and
find the phone number and email address to request a copy. Here is the link.
  http://www.optasiaministry.org/

I hope this is helpful. This really is a goldmine of good materials.

So what bible apps are out there that will work with voice over? I have

work out. I have tried word search on the PC side, but don't feel like buying
that for the mac just to see if it will work. All I want to do is to be able
to study, read and search the bible, and access commentaries if available.
Thanks. And before anyone says it, I've already googled it. Just trying to
see if there is anything someone else has tried.

OK, let me ask you something. Just outta curiousity, are you using the
Garage band instruments, or are you using some of the jam packs? If you're
using the jam packs, you gotta remember: those are pretty big at times. I
use the jam packs, and sometimes my macbook tends to get a little sluggish.

Thank you for letting us know that this update was released. I just installed
it, and so far, it seems to be working very
well. The software seems slightly more responsive now, and I like that the time
stamp has been added. Now, if only I could
find a way to make Alex read times in a way that sounded more natural. (smile)

Hi Missy,
Alex's strange reading of times is one of the primary reasons I prefer the
relative date format, that and the fact it's what I got from my Braille Plus
for years. You can make that change in the Appearance tab of YoruFukurou
preferences, if it helps.
Best,
Zack.

Hi! Thanks for the suggestion. I will go and try to make that change right now.
Relative time would be more like what I'm

RE: YoruFukurou Update with VO improvements now in Mac app store.

2011-07-18 Thread Missy Hoppe
He reads time very oddly, in finder and everywhere. He says sonething like 9
hours, 57 minutes, and it's just weird! I prefer
whole numbers over single digits, but the way he processes times in particular
is something I'm still struggling to get used
to. I haven't tried to see if 1 of the Acapella voices I installed reads things
more logically or not, but at least there's a
fix for his reading of time in yourou, so that's a step in the right direction.

Hi,

I have no clue what you guys are talking about. Alex seems to read the time
fine over here. How exactly is he reading the
time for you?

Hi,

Unfortunately, I have not found any bible study software that is very
accessible at all. However I have found a solution which is almost as good
for me, and some might consider it to be better.

Optasia ministries offers a free library of bible study material in
alternative formats for blind people.. The library comes on a DVD, and you
can copy the files to your hard drive to study whenever you want, or just
read from the dvd. This library contains many different bible translations,
and more commentaries and other reading material than you'll ever know what
to do with. The files are mostly in RTF format that you can read in
textedit, or in html format. At their web site, you can read a full list of
what is included and find the phone number and email address to request a
copy. Here is the link.

http://www.optasiaministry.org/

I hope this is helpful. This really is a goldmine of good materials.

This is interesting.

Have you tried setting in verbosity to have VO read numbers as words instead of
digits? You can also try changing punctuation to some. I'm just not seeing
this behavior.

Hi, I don't know if you would be interested in the app I use on my ipod. I
personally love it. It's the Gospel Library app created by The Church of Jesus

was wonderful to have in my Christianity class last semester in college, and is
great for fast access in Sunday school or where ever I'm at. I believe you can

AppleTV & Netflix

2011-07-18 Thread Jenny Wood
Good day all. Just curious, is anybody else experiencing difficulty accessing
Netflix via their AppleTV? I can't say exactly when the problem began, but I
haven't been able to access Netflix at any point yesterday or today. I can
however, access streaming content just fine on my mac and our iPhone/iPods. I
have tried unplugging the AppleTV for several minutes and plugging it back in
again. Now I have to enter my login info for Netflix again, but it still won't
connect. The error I was getting originally said "Unable to access Netflix at
this time. Please try again later." I am using AppleTV 2, btw. Would it be
worth my time to contact Netflix?

Thanks!

Yep. I am. I might get a second of a movie to play, but that's it, and Netflix
is the only thing giving me trouble. From searches on google, I'm given to
understand it has something to do with which data center services you, but
there's no way to control that.

Re: yorufukurou question

2011-07-18 Thread Richard Ring
Perhaps I should attempt to clarify my question. I want to follow a Twitter
user that I am not following, and whose tweets, therefore, I am not seeing.
Here's what I did. First, I interacted with the toolbar. I found the "drawer"
button. I pressed that button. I stopped interacting. The item called
"drawer" was then visible on my screen. I interacted with the "drawer" and a
series of statistics about the user whose tweet I had most recently read
appeared. I found the user action menu. In this menu is nothing that would me
to follow a brand-new user. I could unfollow the user whose tweet I had most
recently read, but there was nothing in that menu that would allow me to set up
a new follower. I then closed that menu, stopped interacting with the drawer
and pressed command u. A dialog box opened. I interacted with it. I pressed
VO space and a large list of users appeared. Amazingly enough, I was able to
find the user I wanted to follow. I stopped interacting with the combo box,
pressed the go to user button. Then, i interacted with the drawer again. This
time, all that showed were a lot of blank statastics for yorufukurou, as if
that was the user. Ther was, no menu button at all. I am completely at a loss
as to how to proceed.

well. Hopefully they'll get it up and going soon. Man, sure wish iTunes
rentals weren't so darned expensive. :-)

Re: yorufukurou question

2011-07-18 Thread Zachary Kline
Dear Richard,
Can you not see any tweets by this user, that is, are they protected? You
should be able to go to the table and find a tweet, it doesn't matter which
one. After finding one the drawer should show the user's information. From
there, following should be easy enough.
Best,
Zack.

A few questions from a new mac user

2011-07-18 Thread Hendrik Steyn
Hello all

I just made the switch from windows to Mac; a good thing. I use tract
changes a lot in my work. How can I still use tract changes on my mac?
Does VoiceOver read these tract changes in e.g. MS word or an
equivalent on the mac? Please, if anybody knows I really can use some
help by now.

Kindly
Hendrik (South Africa)

Question about document sharing

2011-07-18 Thread Shannon Dyer
Hi, all.

I have a question about document sharing between the Mac and windows partions
of my computer. I've been told that both Mac and Windows can read from the
documents folder, but I don't see that on my machine. Things I saved when in
windows are only seen there, and the same holds true in Mac. Does anyone know
how I can make them available to both partitions?

Re: yorufukurou question

2011-07-18 Thread John D. Lipsey
Hello:

I often find that VO and YoruFukurou don't always work in perfect sync. It is,
therefore, sometimes necessary to command tab out of and back into YoruFukurou
in order for the drawer contents to accurately reflect what you should be
seeing.

If anyone knows a way around this oddity, that'd be great.

Re: yorufukurou question

2011-07-18 Thread Zachary Kline
Hi John,
I've never ran into this strange synchronization issue myself. All I've ever
really needed to do to make sure the drawer showed what I expected it to was
ensure I was on a tweet from the user who's information I wanted to see. The
arrow keys help with this when on the tweet table.
Best,
Zack.

Press CMD-U this brings up the user dialog. Enter the user in

Re: Windows7 Installed.

2011-07-18 Thread Vince Mistretta
Georges,

Just a question, was this iMac a late 2009 (11.1)? What version of
boot camp was used on this iMac.

I'm reading for my iMac which is a 11.1 iMac, there is a set of
drivers for the ATI graphics card and the blue tooth which is
installed during setup so the display and keyboard can be used during
Windows Setup. Luckily I have a retail version of Win7 HP so won't
have the format problems during installation.

I hope to have this complete this weekend after I install the memory I
just bought from OWC to give me 12GB.

Any tips from anyone is greatly appreciated. I've already shrank my
partition for OXS down to 500GB to accomodate my W7.

Re: A few questions from a new mac user

2011-07-18 Thread Anne Robertson
Hello Hendrik,

Tracking changes is complicated in Pages on the Mac. I'm currently trying to
find an acceptable way of handling this. The changes can be examined using
VoiceOver, but it's a tedious business. My husband is looking at creating an
applescript to help with this, but what we thought were standard buttons turn
out to be not quite what they seem.

For the time being, you have to interact with each track changes comment layout
item, clipboard the changed item, paste it into the Find window, then examine
each occurrence with just the left and right arrow keys which will find the
change. With the VO keys, only the new text is read and the old text is skipped.

Sorry about the rambling explanation, but I've spent the whole day trying to
get a workable way of using this feature.

Cheers,

Anne

Yes there was a big problem yesterday evening and it seems to have cleared up.
I sure hope they get the problems cleared up, so there are not to many of these
outage situations.

Re: adding to libery in the new itunes?

2011-07-18 Thread David Tanner
Go to the files menu and choose add file to library and follow the prompts.
The same goes for adding a folder. Go to File menu and choose add folder to
library.

Re: Question about document sharing

2011-07-18 Thread Emilio
Hello Shannon,

I hope this is helpful for you.
1. Before starting your virtual machine, access the settings menu with
VO-E.
2. VO-right arrow until you come to the sharing button, and hit VO-
space.
3. VO-right arrow until you come to share files on Mac, and VO-space
to enable the sharing feature.
4. VO-right arrow until you come to the type of files you want to
mirror across both machines e.g. Desktop, Documents, Pictures, ETC.

Hope this has been helpful.
