A question about MAc and accessible world voice chat rooms
Hi all, I recently tried to go to the accessible world tech talk room, and unfortunately I went ahead and installed the plugin. MY question is, how do I get rid of the plugin, seeing as I just now received Collin's message that I do not need it to interact with the other participants in the chat room? Thanks. Hello Ron, To label a button, position yourself on the button and press VO-/, then type the label for the button. Just find the control you want to label and do a VO-/ on it. You get an edit box prompting you for the name of the label. Looking for used MBP
I'm in the market for a new notebook for productivity and was thinking of getting a MBP with enough memory and power to run Fusion/W7HP. Since there's so many models out there, how far should I look in the earlier models (all Intel based of course)? Ideally an I5 model would be great but I know that's out of my range now. Something with a max of 8GB ram and minum of 320GB hd in a 15" screen would be fine. Did they stop integrating numeric keypads (FN+) on recent models? If so, which model year did that start? Re: Regarding colour detecting and scanning using iPhone/iPod touch 4th gen
Hello Brandt, The best OCR app for iPhone is Prizmo. Several of us who are totally blind have had very good results with this app, which is also multilingual. As for colour detectors, there seems to be a problem with the iPhone 4 and colour identification. The app that seems to be most accurate for now is iSpectrum Color Blind Assistant. Vuescan 9.x crashes on scan
Hello people. When i try to scan a document to ocr text using vuescan, the application unexpectedly crashes and the settings for mediatype, scanning and printing size etc goes back to what they used to be, so instead of text, i scan to a jpeg file. Here are the exact steps i follow when this happens: I put a document in my Canon Lide 90 scanner and launch Vuescan. Now, after having set the correct import and export settings i press ctrl+n and the scanner goes to work. As soon as the scanner has stopped and the dialog where vuescan asks to replace the existing file with the new one pops up and i have answered yes to that, there's a delay of a couple seconds and then i hear "Finder" and then "Problem reporter". This happens every time with v9.x 64 bit version. What could cause this to happen? Oh i just got a stupid idea, or maybe not so stupid, the previous version of the Vuescan app might have been a 32-bit version and this one is a 64-bit version. Now i don't want to get rid of the 64-bit version if at all possible, so if i uninstall that version and install, what should one try to remove so that things don't go wrong? /Krister -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. I'd try erasing the prefs file and relaunchin the app. Next, I'd write up a detailed report and send it off to: edhamr...@aol.com with the VueScan.log file attached to the e-mail. Remember, you can find this file under: c/User/Library/Preferences/ Don't zip or otherwise alter the file, just attach it and he'll be able to see what's going on. Re: itunes sources?
Yes, you can delete the original folders, itunes will import these files into its own media folder. however I would recommend deleting the folders, checking that itunes plays the files ok before you empty the trash - just to be on the safe side, but i do this all the time so you should be good to go. Re: fusion or bootcamp on a macbook air
Well, i was running fusion with 2gb of ram and windows 64-bit on my mbp and it was a bit sluggish. If performance is your main priority, you should run boot camp wich will mean that Windows gets the whole 4gb and will run more smoothly. If you want the ease of flipping between the 2 operating systems without the hastle of rebooting, then fusion is great. I upgraded my mbp to 8gb and gave windows 4, that sorted it out but on the air, you're maxed out at 4. RE: Looking for used MBP
Hello Vince, The scope if your question is too broad for anyone to give you a comprehensive answer, in my opinion. There are just too many variables to take into account without knowing the specific needs of the individual. Your post is somewhat confusing; the subject line reads "used MBP" yet in your message you write that you are going to get a new MBP. Perhaps I'm misreading something but ... Generally speaking, I do not recommend that anyone who is not an advanced user purchase a used computer. However, be it used or not, purchase the most advanced/modern computer you can comfortably afford. Processor speed not withstanding, make sure the unit has at least 4MB of RAM with no less than 200GB capacity hard drive. Re: Looking for used MBP
Sorry it wasn't clear. I am an experienced computer user and am in the IT business. MBPs are a bit new so wanted to be sure I got the most advantaged processor and configuration for my needs. You may have imssed it or I may have but it's only for productivity not for any intensive work. "New" is meant to be "new to me" as a replacement for my current XP Pro notebook. I still want at least 4GB of ram of course and want to have the best possible processor I can get for the least amount. Been looking at the 13.3 Core 2 Duo with 4GB 19066ghz ram and a 250GB hd at 5400 - mid 2009 configuration (or maybe a 2008). It's just there's so many configurations just like for the Windows based ones. Key is I'm going to be running W7HP 32 bit (64 bit waste for my notebook needs. This will either be under bootcamp or Fusion. Keep in mind I do have an iMac 27 inch I7 already. On Jun 14, 2011, at 6:30 PM, M. RE: Hello from a new member.
Ezzie and all, I'm so glad that you all have already written me for to welcome me. I've been working quite substantially with Chris's Mac, and I'm quite far along already. I've been using YoruFukurou, and I love it! By the way, what on earth does that name mean? It smacks of Africa, but that's not the point. Even Skype and the Sendspace wizard are available for use! Re: time and hot keys?
Colin, I have used this to set a keyboard command in the past for toggling between Dom and Group mode. Today, after reading your message, I attempted to set one up to "open Skype". Once I got to the keyboard commander, tabbed to the add button and located Skype on the table of applications, I'm missing the final step. I tried VO space, in tabbing to see if there was a button but could find nothing to get it. I thought maybe it would be automatically added if I just closed the window. When I do that and go back into the keyboard list it shows the letter I chose but does not show open application Skype next to it. Your help would be appreciated. signitures again?
Okay, will try and make this as short as possible. I've created my signatures, but it always defaults to one of my 2 accounts. You can pick the default signature in the Mail Preferences. If you have multiple signatures for a single account, as do I, when you compose or reply to a message, you can select the others by VO keys-left arrowing and using the pop up button to pick the one you want to use. Re: signitures again?
I tried that, and the only choices were the default one, and none. Re: Icloud
Hi, Paul, On your mobile device, go to settings. You will find some of the necessary options in the Store section there. Re: Growl & Skype Status Messages.
How do I configure them? Thanks. Original message: Just my opinion. However, I think you'll do best with notifications by not using growl and just using the options that come within Skype preferences. I worked like crazy to get growl to work and it was only after I disable that that I got the results I wanted. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group.
