As someone said, yes, get the plan. It is well worth it. You can call Apple Care if you have any questions, furthermore, if anything happens, you can go to the genious bar. RE: sounds in Bootcamp
Hello You could go into windows 7 and in the sound option of the control panel, look at the output devices that the computer detects and configure them. In some cases, the output device for the speakers and headphones might differ, though personally I've never experienced a problem with headphones in windows, though I'm not running windows on a macbook. And I suspect that will impact battery performance. Not a wise design IMHO. Re: debating whether or not to extend my warrantee on the macbook pro
I'd say there's no reason for debate. The warrantee is the best part of your mac, and if you want it to retain any value after next month then you need the warrantee. If anything happens to your mac and you need service, the cost of service will be so high out of warrantee that you might as well buy a new computer. With apple care you just take in the computer and in 24 hours it comes back fixed. Re: Accessible Weather Radio App for iOS devices
I did confirm that the weather app was the problem. Rather than turning location services off completely, I just turned it off for this app, and the location tracking also stopped. I could understand this being used if the app was running, but to keep location tracking on, even when the app is removed from the app switcher is a major problem, other than that it's a good app. On Apr 28, 2011, at 5:47 AM, Scott Howell wrote: > And I suspect that will impact battery performance. Re: debating whether or not to extend my warrantee on the macbook pro
While I'm generally not a fan of extended warranties, I do recommend getting the AppleCare plan for Apple laptops with one caveat: Shop around before purchasing the warranty. A number of retailers such as Amazon sell AppleCare at a discount. Re: debating whether or not to extend my warrantee on the macbook pro
I respectfully disagree with this point of view. Sure, you might be good at fixing things yourself, but then again you might not. If you aren't, and you don't have the warranty, you're stuck paying a large amount of money. If you do have the warranty, you pay now, but don't have to possibly pay more in the future if the machine breaks. Just my opinion, Zack. My review of Imap Weather Radio
Hi all: I've received questions about the above application, so thought I'd write a review of the application. Unfortunately, I had use of it yesterday. I'm running an iPhone 4, iOS 4.3. Imap Weather Radio is an accessible weather radio application, which can be configured to alert you to any weather event of your choosing. It wil use your GPS to send alerts where ever you are. You can also set the app to alert for 5 locations based on zip, city, state, airport code, etc. Unlike other radio apps which happen to have weather radio stations, Imap wakes up your iOS device, sounds an alarm, and will send audio, and text alerts. From experience, it works, and will send the alerts at the same time as a Midland NOA Weather Radio. Fortunately, there isn't a delay in notifications, wich was one of my concerns with push notification. It was comforting to have this application when I lost all power due to yesterday's storms. The app does activate location tracking, and surprisingly, it doesn't cause to much of a battery drain. Last night, I had Imap, as well as several other apps pushing data pretty hard to my phone. At 5 P.M, I unplugged the phone at 100% battery power. Around 10 P.M. I was down to 49%; that was with a constant stream of data being pushed. Today, I started at 82% at 8 A.M. and I was at 70 % at 6 P.M. This was on a calm day with normal phone use. Not bad, IMO. The app is definitely worth the $9.95. I hope this review helps. indication of levels when navigating the finder and reading of lines in web pages
Hi all. I have been going through the custom verbosity options to try to get voiceover to say the level of an item when navigating directories in the finder before speaking the finder item. I want it to say something like, level 1, applications, expanded. I've tried several things without success. I'd appreciate any help with this. How do I get VO to say things that way? also, is there a way to get voiceover to read actual lines in safari? I'm going through web pages in which knowing where a line is is quite important. I've tried turning off quicknav and using the up and down arrow keys, but this doesn't do the trick. I looked for a lines setting in the web rotor like they have on Voiceover for iOS, but no go on that either. It would be great if the web pages would navigate like a word processing document. I realize it's a lot like the Windows screen readers, but I've always found that method of navigating web pages better for learning things like programming syntax. Hi Kevin I made a quick test this morning with my canon lide 100 and it worked. Now it is intresting to see if it can make something readable out of swedish text. If so I deffently gonna buy this. More simple solution than use vuescan, to abbyy, and to textedit wich works well but very much work to get a document scanned. Regards Tony 2011/4/29, Kevin Reeves : > Hey folks. Hi there, Yes, $299 is a fair bit of money, but how many actually went and bought open Book or something similar back when ever for 3 ore 4 times more? My biggest complaint is not the cost of software but the ridiculous prices of Mac computers. I can and probably will go the Hakintosh route just because of that.
