key mapping in VMWare Fusion
Dear all, I have the latest Macbook Air with a 2.1ghz processor and the latest version of snow leopard. I installed Windows 7 64 byt today in a virtual machine and was really blown away. I have installed the latest build of Jaws, and discovered I need to map the keys to get a jaws key. I'm not very technical, so sorry if these questions sound silly (the whole virtual machines thing is a bit of a leap into the unknown!). Would someone mind giving me step by step instructions if possible as to how I can assign keys to work as my jaws modifier key etc? If you could tell me all the keys I need to assign and how to do it that would be great. I did do some reading on this and I saw a program called sharp keys. But I can't see anywhere that it works under Windows 7 64 byt. Do I need sharp keys, and does it work under Windows 7 64 byt? Many thanks for all your help cam -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. lots of snappiness improvements with vo as far as when you upgrade from leopard. In snowy it's also possible to lable controls with a hotkey that escapes me for now. Didn't trackpad commander get included in 10.6? if your mac has a multi-touch trackpad you'd be able to see those advantages as well. that's a big improvement in my opinion. How Do I Stop VO Announcing New Window
Hey all. Is there a way to make Voice Over stop announcing "New Window" everytime something pops up. For example, in Skype, I had visual notifications turned on so that I could here if contacts sign on or off, but Voice Over keeps saying "Skype has new window" when these visual notifications pop up. I've turned them off but I'm thinking that the speech feature needs to have them on in order to work. So is there a way to turn off new window messages? Re: How Do I Stop VO Announcing New Window
Shaun,, In voiceover utility under verbosity, you can adjust general verbosity. If you vo+right arrow further in the "general" tab verbosity dialogue having chosen the level of verbosity first, you encounter "detail" element which may be collapsed. Vo+space on it to expand it. Vo+right further to see the table of the elements you wish to adjust verbosity for. The last element in the table is window. It is set to default, You can activate the menu button which says ""default" with vo+space. You have choices there in the menu. The "custom" menu choice may be of interest to you as you can adjust various ways voiceover says or describes the item "window". Have a play with it to see wehther it is going to give you what you need. With best wishes Simon On 13 Apr 2011, at 17:47, Shawn Krasniuk wrote: > Hey all. I hear that Parallels has less lag than Fusion does, but all discussion I've heard regarding Parallels seems to be only that it is inaccessible with VO. SOmething in the sidebar that won't go away
All, Got a file that appears in the sidebar and the file no longer exists on my machine. So, how can I get rid of the entry that does not exist? I did a search on Google and found an article that talks about editing the com.apple.sidebar.plist; however, I cannot locate the item. There are lots of numbers that are associated with aliases etc., but not sure I would just want to start hacking stuff out of the plist without knowing what may happen. Not sure if deleting the file will cause any harm at all. It'll just recreate it's self when you reboot your mac. Re: How Do I Stop VO Announcing New Window
Hi Simon and all. I did what you said to do, open the VO Utilities, went under verbosity and under general, went to the details disclosure triangle and expanded it, went to the window option, hit the button that says default and switched it to custom, then made the changes I wanted to make and hit ok only for my changes to not take effect. This has been a problem since 10.6.5 for me, and I was hoping that it would be fixed in 10.6.7. I guess that option is still broken. Should I set the verbosity to low if custom won't work? I think I may email Apple Accessibility about this too. Shawn -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. Re: SOmething in the sidebar that won't go away
Matt, True I could do that. However, I was trying to find a solution that would not require such drastic measures. :) If I end up doing that then so be it, but like to see what my options are first. If I knew what all the stuff was in the plist file it may be possible to delete the offending entry. Unfortunately I cannot determine which is the correct entry. There are lots of alphanumeric strings, but none indicate the file name. Scott On Apr 13, 2011, at 4:52 PM, Matthew Campbell wrote: > Not sure if deleting the file will cause any harm at all. Cannot add music to iTunes library . . .
Hello all. I am rather frustrated, having spent a good chunk of my limited free time today attempting to add music files purchased *from* iTunes to my iTunes library. For whatever reason, they were not put there automatically, even though all is set up to accomplish this. I previously added music files to the iTunes library easily on a PC by selecting, copying, and pasting. I can't even attempt this, if needed, because I cannot locate the music folder containing the songs in question. If I search for them in Spotlight, they appear, but attempting to find the folder and check it in the file menu in iTunes lkibrary has proven impossible. Whenever I look in my music folders, my recent purchases are nowhere to be found, even though I am seeking them in the specified folders from Spotlight. If I must add them individually from Spotlight, is this doable? Do I have a speedier option? Can anyone enlighten me as to what I am probably doing incorrectly? Thank you. Well for me the rambel is just fine because, although I am not yet a Mac owner, I am learning a heck of a lot and that it is not such a scary move from Windows to a Mac afterall. Why? Because of good folk like yourself on great lists like this one. So thanks for this list and keep rambeling on brother! Johnny Chilelli PS. There was a post I saw recently of someone who did come up with a site where one can go to fined such a list member driven repository of Mac things and such. I'll see if I can find the post and re-post it to this list if I may do so if it's in accordance with this list rules. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. Re: dom to group mode, vo h h tells me nothing
Hello Marlaina, The choice of DOM or Groups mode is very personal. In DOM mode, you can only navigate right and left, and the items are not grouped together in paragraphs, as it were. In Groups mode, you can navigate in all directions and the items are put together, mainly logically, in paragraphs. On sites I know well, I find it quicker to get around in Groups mode, but when I want to read an article, I go into DOM mode as it works much better for this, especially for scientific articles which contain lots of links. In DOM mode, the links come in the right places, whereas in Groups mode, they are put all together at the end of each paragraph which can lead to VO reading complete nonsense. Re: SOmething in the sidebar that won't go away
I don't know if this would be available to you now, but have you tried focussing on the item and pressing VO-shift-m to go to the contextual menu? When I do that with items in my sidebar, there's an option that says "remove from sidebar".
