Fusion and stream companion
Hi guys, I'm having issues with VM fusion yet again. For some reason, I am having trouble connecting my stream to use with the stream companion software which sadly is only available on the PC side. I can use it on the Mac, but it doesn't have the kind of convenient features the stream companion software has. Anyone have any ideas why it won't connect? Thanks. Hi Geoff! Are you bringing your mouse cursor to your vo cursor, also Ester said if your list is long you can lock vo with vo+; then all you need do is go up and down with arrows and select with command space bar! when you are done remember to take off vo lock by pressing ; again and then put cursor tracking back on, also someone said about interacting with the list after turning cursor tracking off! hth Colin On 25 Sep 2010, at 04:41, GEOFF WAALER wrote: > Greetings y'all, > > I recently read a post that Esther composed before Snow Leopard describing > how to select non-contiguous items in iTunes. Re: Fusion and stream companion
Hi Sarah, For some reason, I can't get the stream itself to connect to the fusion side. I've tried doing it manually and also with the little fusion wizard that comes up. Neither one works. Since it isn't seen, the companion software can't see it. I'm hoping that I'm not the only one to have encountered this problem. Re: Fusion and stream companion
Does your system have an SD card slot? I know for example that the MacBook does not while the MacBook pro does. If you have an SD slot then there is no reason to connect the stream to the computer. In fact, you will find that transfers go much faster if you just insert the card. There is a button in the fusion window to add the card reader to your virtual machine. If you do not have a SD slot, there are USB card readers that don't cost very much at all. For some reason, even using the card through one of these usb attachments seems to be much faster than connecting the stream. Hope this is helpful. Windows 7 Installation through Fusion - Help Requested
Hello All: When I purchased my iMac I immediately decided it would be necessary, if only for a time, to install Windows via Boot Camp or Fusion. Based on much research and the collective wisdom gleamed from the group, I opted to acquire/install Fusion. One of the more salient factors in my decision to install via Fusion was everything I heard about the ease in which a blind computer user could independently perform the complete installation of Windows using Fusion. This has not quite been the case for me. First, with very limited vision, I struggled to find the product key required to commence the installation. After several hours of utter frustration, I decided to contact Microsoft directly to solicit assistance in perhaps acquiring an alternate product key by phone. Subsequent to providing the Microsoft representative with my part and order numbers, a new product key was given to me. Thank you Microsoft for the means of circumventing an otherwise inaccessible step in the installation process. For the benefit of anyone else needing similar assistance, contact Microsoft at: 1-800-642-7676. I opened Fusion; chose the option to install a copy of Windows; selected to have my virtual machine be more isolated and then allowed the installation wizard to take over. Having fallen asleep during the installation, I was awaken by what I thought was the sound of Windows starting. Hurray! The process was successfully completed! Hmmm, or perhaps it was not. The virtual machine, running Windows 7 Professional, appears to be installed, but I am not able to move past what appears to be a Windows desktop screen. Furthermore, when I shut the virtual machine down and restart it, I do not hear anything from Windows, including the start-up tones. I should note that I continue to receive a dialog box reminding me to install the virtual machine tools, which seems to be yet another problem because the install does not happen when I click the option for it to do so. Have I done something wrong that has made my experience in installing Windows through Fusion more frustrating and seemingly less accessible than what I have heard regarding the experience of so many of you? What would you recommend I do to enjoy greater success in the installation process? Any guidance you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Marketoe A. Re: How To Get VoiceOver To Automatically Read Messages in Apple Mail
The company that makes Heather is Acapela and Heather comes with all the voice packs from Infovox iVox which can be purchased from AssistiveWare: www.assistiveware.com The Cepstral voices still do not work properly with VO. The i devices can only use the voices preinstalled by Apple for VoiceOver. Some applications use Acapela voices, too. iTunes on the mac - new user
Greetings all! Okay, so I have been having loads of fun playing with and learning my new-to-me mac over the past week. I have already learned some nifty little tips and tricks from this list as well, for which I am very appreciative, I assure you. So today's project was getting my iPhone setup and successfully syncronized with iTunes on the mac. After having downloaded and installed the latest update for iTunes, I proceeded to configure iTunes to sync my contacts, calendar, notes, apps, books and music. The apps were about the only thing I managed to get transfered over apparently. While I haven't received any error messages indicating a problem, I am not finding the contacts and calendar entries that should have transfered over anywhere. Am I correct in assuming they would go into the Addressbook and iCal on the mac? My guess is, there is something important I am missing. Furthermore, if anyone has any advice for transfering music that has not necessarily been purchased from the iTunes store from the phone into iTunes, I would be very grateful. If this topic has been covered recently, please feel free to either write me privately, as not to clutter the list, or point me in the right direction for more in-depth assistance with iTunes, voiceover, etc. Thanks! Re: Windows 7 Installation through Fusion - Help Requested
I suspect the installation didn't complete because you're still getting the message asking you to install Vmware tools. That goes away after a successful install. I'm not sure how to resume an install or whether it's even possible, perhaps someone else know that. However my solution would be to start from scratch and give the image a new name and be sure it actually completes. Once it does you can start narrator or even satogo to get speech. Re: Windows 7 Installation through Fusion - Help Requested
David, Based on a trusted/expert friend's advice and now yours, I deleted the previous virtual machine and created a new one. However, this time around I opted to make the virtual machine more seamless. The effect is I am able to get further in the process than before, but I have yet to achieve full success in installing and enjoying Windows 7. When you state I can begin satogo after Windows is installed, what method of starting system access should I employ, particularly as there is no voice output at this point in the process? Do I hit what would be the equivalent of the Windows key, press "R" for run and type www.satogo.com followed by enter? Please forgive these questions if they seem to you or anyone else to be a bit elementary. I only seek a positive resolution to this issue and tendering questions such as these is the only way I know to achieve the goal. Thanks! Marketoe A. However my solution would be to start from scratch and give the image a new name and be sure it actually completes. Once it does you can start narrator or even satogo to get speech. uninstalling programs that leave footprints
One of the best things about the mac is that generally, programs don't burry themselves deep in the system making it impossible to remove them. I tried to uninstall fusion and do a clean install because the display drivers have been totally corrupted. It did not do a clean install. How do I get rid of anything it may have left behind in the system? Friendly, Chris -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. Re: Get The Awareness App for Free!
Hi Charlie, I forgot how to say hello in Hawaiian. When you are in the App store, you just search for Awareness. and VO right arrow to search. YOu can double tap if you are on the Ipod or Iphone. It will say Headphone ap and have a little description. I hope that helps. I love downloading things from the Ap store. It will probably ask you for your password. You enter it, double tap to okay and and it will ask you to agree with the Itunes terms and conditions. I know most of you are probably wondering why I'm mentioning this. For one reason, this is because when it came up on the Iphone, I realized I had to swipe up twice till I came to the third page of the agreement. Then there is an agree button. I say this because I wouldn't wish you the same trouble I had. I hope this helps. Have a great day. Oh, I am not in New York City, but half an hour away from it. It's nice to have the City so close. The new Twitter and the follow button with Safari
Hi everyone. While I typically manage my Twitter experience with clients, there are times when I do use the Twitter web site, mostly to follow people. Today, I attempted to use the new Twitter web interface and found that I was unable to click on the follow button in someone's profile. I got the same results with every profile I tried to follow. I was able to revert back to the old interface and my follow button was happily back and functional again, but I was wondering if anyone else out there who is using the new Twitter interface was having this issue also or if this is just some messed up setting on my end. Any insights regarding this issue would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance for your assistance. New ITunes, what do you all think?
Well, I downloaded the new ITunes today. There is a Ping sidebar that I had to hide. I still can't use my VO-J to jump to the table. Other than that, it seems like it is the same. I would use Ping, but honestly, I'm up to my ears in social media these days and really don't want anymore. Authenicating in Apple Mail
Each time I connect to Apple Mail I am prompted to enter the password associated with my imap account/user ID. Normal computing behavior, right? However, if I wish to enter Apple Mail without having to always enter this information, is there a way to do so? Additionally, while on the topic of Apple Mail, is there a way to identify the sender of a message when reviewing messages in thread mode with headers turned off? Re: New ITunes, what do you all think?
I have noticed a few differences. First, you can no longer press command R to show the iTem your on in the Finder. Now you have to interact with the media table, bring up the context menu with VO shift M and arrow down to show in finder. Pressing Command R now refreshes iTunes. Girr! I liked it the way it was before. lol. They have also brought back the LCD section. This is a plus in my opinion. Those are the things I've noticed so far. hth On Sep 25, 2010, at 8:16 PM, Lynn Schneider wrote: > Well, I downloaded the new ITunes today. There is a Ping sidebar that I had > to hide. Re: Authenicating in Apple Mail
Hi, Is your iMap account through your ISP or through your employer? I've not seen iMap like GMail have Kerberos issues. That's not normal behaviour. I agree with Jeffrey's suggestion to take a look in your Account settings within Mail preferences. Some iMap accounts require SSL which, when configured appropriately, will fix that sort of issue. Help with Fission.
Hey folks. About 2 years ago, I bought fission. While I think it's a great program, I have some basic questions. 1. How do you crop silence from start and end from a file? I couldn't seem to find an easy solution for that. 2. How do you make the play head jump back to the selection every time stop is pressed? As one who edits in soundforge, pro tools, etc, I want to hit play, hear my selection, and be able to re listen to that spot as I make changes. What happens now is that play acts as pause and keeps the play head in the same spot. THis makes it really hard to edit clips out of songs for making ring tones and such. Anyone have any easy solutions on how to best efficiently perform these tasks? Any other tips on how to more efficiently use Fission, or should I look at another editing solution? Thanks so much. Re: timer app on mac
Yes. I've been looking for something like this as well as an alarm clock. I found one, but it was one that sat in the menu bar and was not visible by voiceover. Maybe I'm not doing something right, but I couldn't get any app that installs into the menu bar to be visible. Any thoughts on this? Hi Kevin, You asked: > 1. How do you crop silence from start and end from a file? I couldn't seem to > find an easy solution for that. Answer: There is no automated way as far as I can tell. The method I use is to listen and determine where the sound begins, split the clip at that location (cmd-t), select the previous or next clip (cmd-[ or cmd-]) depending on what needs cropped then once the selection is made, pressing cmd-k to Crop it. Answer: You need to first be interacting with the playhead area which is just one VO-right arrow past the Toolbar. When in this area you can press cmd-left arrow to take you to the beginning or cmd-right arrow to take you to the end of the selection. Holding down the option key instead of the command key moves in very small increments. Press cmd-[ or cmd-] to play a little snippet of the beginning or end respectively. There is a menu-item for selecting a certain area but it doesn't seem to be accessible. I'll write to the developers about that as they are quite good at making things work in an accessible way. HTH. Re: timer app on mac
Hi Kevin, I'm not sure about the original question about a timer or stopwatch, but you also mentioned wanting an alarm clock. I think I recently found a good one. The program is aurora, and the web site is http://www.metakine.com/products/aurora/ There's a 14 day trial, and then the price is $14.95. I'm glad I went to look this up for you, or I would have been very surprised in a couple days when the alarm didn't go off.. I didn't notice that this was shareware. LOL. Anyway, as far as I can tell, this program depends on your iTunes library. It plays music from your library as the alarm. The volume can be set at a particular level, or it can gradually raise it until you get up or until it reaches the maximum. That's a very nice motivator for me when I'd rather not get up. I hope you find this useful. Justin On Sep 25, 2010, at 8:19 PM, li...@kevinreeves.net wrote: Yes. I've been looking for something like this as well as an alarm clock. Any thoughts on this? Kevin -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. To post to this group, send email to macvisionar...@googlegroups.com.
