purchasing it last night, as did someone in the UK, and for us Europeans it's
useless. It has no maps for Europe.

Hi,

Except we were later told that we needed to go into settings and set our
country to UK and it would then work, and we have to do that as well as
setting our current location.

Hi

I just downloaded the app and it works here in Europe.
Just overview and addapt your settings. By default the country is North
America, changing it to Europe/UK does the trick.

Hope this helps,

VO navigation seems changed / that mail problem again

2010-09-18 Thread Scott Granados
Hi, some time back I posted about a problem that seemed to self correct. It's
happening again but now that I have a little more time with the Mac I can
express the problem more clearly.

When I open the mail App or many tables they don't auto interact. Previously,
when I opened the mail app for example, it would ready me each row as I arrowed
up and down in the messages area. I did not have to interact with shift vo
down. Now if I open the Mail app I see the bars, the message area but I have
to interact by hand. Also, it doesn't read each row rather, I have to move the
arrows around to read each field or advance / fall back between rows. Why has
this change happened? What did I hit accidently? :)

Another issue is that my arrows do different things now when in a text edit
area say editing this message. Left and right arrows advance or fall back a
full word at a time. Up and down arrows spell that word as if you moved one
character at a time? What's that about?

Over all, if I get in these wierd modes is there a way to easily restore VO to
factory defaults or have I done something else that's odd?

Thank you and I hope that's more clear.

Scott

Hi Scott,

Check to see if you turned quick nav on by mistake. To do this, press the
left and right arrow at the same time.

Re: playing videos in facebook

2010-09-18 Thread Colin M
Hi Laura!
I think I'm having the same problem as you!
Is the video in question in your friends profile, and does it say view video
clickable!
I've got the same problem if so!
I tried Sarah's suggestion and it did nothing for me!
I'm talking to facebook about this and one thing they suggested was to turn off
voice over and then do a mouse click!
I have not tried this yet!
One more thing those facebook short cut keys I posted do they work for you?
I got them from facebook but they do not seem to work for me!

Re: Sendero look around app is now available

2010-09-18 Thread Paul Erkens

Hi list,

I have lookaround installed now, but I need to go quite a bit away from home
to find out and maybe you already know about this. When using lookaround's
find intersection, will this announce the nearest intersection, any
direction, clockwise? Or will it announce the intersection ahead on the
current street? The latter is what I need, and it is what wayfinder did not
do. Trekker did, and since I got rid of mine I've been hoping for this
feature to emerge again. Which of the 2 does it do? All, or ahead?

Hi

I just downloaded the app and it works here in Europe.
Just overview and addapt your settings. By default the country is North
America, changing it to Europe/UK does the trick.

Hope this helps,

Hello Dave,

This app would appear only to work in North America. I made the mistake
of purchasing it last night, as did someone in the UK, and for us
Europeans it's useless. It has no maps for Europe.

Cheers,

Re: VO navigation seems changed / that mail problem again

2010-09-18 Thread Ricardo Walker
Hi,

Quick nav allows you to navigate without pressing control and option. So to
move to the right and left, you can just press the left and right arrows.
Pressing the left and down arrow at the same time stops interacting, down and
right arrow starts interacting. Up and down performs the default action, AKA
VO spacebar. It's a real cool way to navigate 1 handed. It's just a pain when
it turns on by accident. lol. It happens to me like once a week. :).

Hi Corey. What you need to do is find the preview pane with VoiceOver, and
then VO left from it. You'll be on a splitter. Press VO command f5 to
route your mouse to the splitter. Then double click. If memory serves you
need to use the actual mouse button here, rather then use the VO mouse click
command.

Hi Samuel,

I just purchased the Maria and Antonio voices from Infovox. I think I purchased
them from Origin Instruments. I'm learning SPanish for the love of my life, and
these voices really help in terms of pronunciation. I can record you a sample
of them and send it your way if you'd like. I hope this helps.

Have a wonderful day!

Cheerfully,
Allison

RE: Sendero look around app is now available

2010-09-18 Thread Dave Taylor
Yes it is. I bought it, as much to show them that iPhone users are
interested as anything. I set my country to UK and off it went. Each app
seems to have entirely different POIs. I wish this one gave you any details
about them like the others, frankly it's only good for finding your next
intersection and how close things are, it doesn't give you an address or let
you get directions there from maps. Voxtrek still has it for most things for
me.

Cheers
Dave

There is an option in the voice over utility that sets whether to automatically
interact with items, especially when using the tab key. Personally I have this
disabled, if I want to interact with something, I will use the keystroke, but
that's a personal preference.

Re: VO navigation seems changed / that mail problem again

2010-09-18 Thread Mike Arrigo
Quick nav allows you to use the regular arrow keys for navigation instead of
their regular purpose. Left and right arrow move left and right, and the up and
down arrow use the roter setting. To activate the item in the voice over
cursor, press the up and down keys together. Pressing the up and left arrows
together or up and right will move through the roter settings. Thd down arrow
key pressed together with right and left will start and stop interacting with
an item. In some ways, I guess it's similar to what JFW does when activating
the Jaws cursor. I don't use quick nav much, I prefer to use the regular arrow
keys for the system cursor or focus, I use the numpad or track pad for voice
over navigation, but quick nav is there if you want to use it.

Re: VO navigation seems changed / that mail problem again

2010-09-18 Thread Scott Granados
I saw that option and was playing with that.

Turns out my initial issue was quick nav but that sent me learning more of the
functions in the voiceover menu which is a good thing.:)

Thanks for the pointers.

Re: Google search

2010-09-18 Thread carlene knight
I am using the accessible Google search page without Web Kit. Voiceover
doesn't seem to have any problems like it did with the regular Google search
;page.

Re: Google search

2010-09-18 Thread Anne Robertson
What's this about an "accessible google page"? I just press Command-Option-f on
whatever page I'm on in Safari and enter my search terms. I have absolutely no
problem with VO crashing.

To find the results, I press VO-Command-h three times and there I am.

I use google day in and day out when I'm translating so I think I would have
noticed had there been a problem.

Cheers,

Anne

RE: Google search

2010-09-18 Thread Dave Taylor
If you Google "Google Accessible Search" it will take you to the page. It's
a very simple interface and it gives results based more on accessibility but
they are still good. In Windows I find it loads much more quickly than the
regular Google search, but I do quite hope iGoogle works better for me soon,
don't see why it shouldn't!

Cheers
Dave
