2010-09-15 Thread Colin M
Hi Mary! and all!
I've had another look and I am not having the same trouble as you and others!
Mike says to bring the cursor to vo cursor and then do a mouse click!
All I can say is I do not need to do this!
I've found a quick way to get to the table, using the rota vo+u go to the
table's part and it is the only table select it, then I can go to the city
button select one then I scroll right past the clickable text to departure
link, vo+sp bar that then scroll right again past adults button children button
promo code until I get to the month which is set on sep each side of the month
name is than I went to >than and vo+sp bar and scrolled left back to
the month name and it changed to Oct.
Then scrolled right along to the year changed that in the same way with >than,
scrolled right again then comes the days letters s, m, t, w After that are
the numbers which all have links selected one and I went to the departure field
and the date was all there!
I also did the same for return date!
I hope this helps!

Braille Note, Power Point and a Mac

2010-09-15 Thread Michael Busboom
I need some advice and since this list has been so helpful so often, I thought
I would see if someone can enlighten me.

I will soon be receiving Power Point presentations in German that will need to
be translated into English. For reasons that aren't important here, I will not
be inserting my translated texts into a Power Point presentation. For the most
part, the Power Point presentations will be produced Microsoft Office 2010,
though I could ask the author to save them under an earlier version of Office.

What I want to do is convert the Power Point presentations to plain ASCII or
Text, copy them to a USB memory stick and then read them on my Braille Note
Empower. The Braile Note can also handle RTF files.

Any suggestions on how to accomplish this would be greatly appreciated. By the
way, I have iWork, should it be necessary to use this suite of programs.

Thanking you in advance,

Mike

rfb&d books on the mac

2010-09-15 Thread Robert Hooper
I can't remember if this has yet been discussed, but is there a solution for
downloading/reading RFB&D Audio+ Books on a Mac computer? I know that RFB&D
heavily protects their content, and any device needs to be "authorized" before
it can use any material downloaded from RFB&D. Any information would be
appreciated, as I will soon be obtaining an Apple computer and this would be
great for textbooks in college classes.
Thanks,

Hello Courtney, many thanks for your responce. I would be very greatful if you
could send an email to ap...@accessibility.com and explain that you would like
this too in future versions of there I OSupdates. I have done so already for
the reason that I can simply understand the male voices over the female ones
because of my hearing impairment but the more people who let them know then
hopefully they will do it for us!
Thanks

Amadeus Pro Zoom keystroke

2010-09-15 Thread Robert Carter
Hi,

I have been doing lots of editing with Amadeus lately. I have read several
people say that "command-g" allows one to adjust the zoom amount. I am using
the latest version and command-g opens a go to dialog. Does anybody know if the
zoom adjustment has a different hotkey?

Thanks,

Robert Carter

Re: duo core or i5 in mbp

2010-09-15 Thread Chris Blouch
My old Ensoniq ESQ1 has been replaced by a Roland Juno-G but the ESQ1
is still in the basement somewhere. Weighs about 30-40 pounds so it
wasn't fun lugging around. I remember having a lot of fun with a Yamaha
DX7 in the early 80s making lots of interesting but not do musical
sounds with it. Now days there are kids and family life outside of work
so not much noodling with macs and music.

I still have some old PowerMac 9500s that I use for firewalls of all
things since they have no command line to hack into. As one dies I just
grab another from the pile.

Back then we had a 32-channel analog Mackie fed into a Mac ProTools rig. At

Are you a voiceover user by the way? If so, the current versions of logic

For example, the event list editor is not accessible with vo. Hopefully

Back in the day, like 10 years ago, I was able to record 8 concurrent

My concern is future proofing. Unfortunately, you can't get the 7200

harddrive.

Gotta love apple's packaged deal options, instead of letting you

two internet questions with voiceover on a Mac

2010-09-15 Thread Daniel McGee
hi everyone I have two questions about the internet on a Mac.

1. With Voiceover, is it possable to use firefox or to be even more to the
point can firefox work with voiceover if not then even a little? I ask
thisbecause today when I went to my college and we were all getting use to the
Mac's my teacher mentioned firefox that the sighted were using and from what I
heard before when I was on this list is that it doesn't work proaply but I
don't know if that's the case still.
and
2. When I was filling out a form today which was a registration for an account
for the college my support worker said there's a button at the bottom of the
page that we needed to get to. So we VO right to it but my question is there a
voiceover command to get to buttons directly on a webpage? I have
learned/memorised the heading one but I would like to know the one for getting
to buttons just a thought that I would ask this list to help me out. I'm
getting there people! lol
Look forward for your responcives!
Thanks

No Firefox with Voice Over.

Now, to get from one form control to another right away, use VO+j. Another way
to do it is to use the web item roter and select for form fields.

Hello Ray, thanks for your comments. I will continue to use safari. Just as a
matter of interest why doesn't firefox support Voiceover? Is it Apple side of
things or Mozilla. And my second question I think you miss understood what I
ment. I didn't mean form fields I ment the buttons on web pages. So for example
when you go to google.com and I'm sorry to mention windows on this list forgive
me if its off topic but its the only way to explain what I am wanting to do.
Well useing Jaws or NVDA when you hit the letter b on the google page jaws at
least says "google search" followed by the word button to indecate what it is.
I hope I have made it more clear now as to what I want. Many Thanks for the VO
J command I'll give it a try when I next use a Mac. The web item roter is the
command for this VO Plus the letter U? Like I said all these ramdom keystrokes
I have learnt from memory and am putting them into practice when I use the Mac
at college. Also can this item roter display the buttons that are currently on
a page?

Actually you can move between controls on a webpage with VO-command-J and
between headings with VO-command-H. There's L for links and f for frames, as
well.

Re: two internet questions with voiceover on a Mac

2010-09-15 Thread Chris Blouch
If you search this mailing list's archives you'll see multiple large
threads on this topic. Last I heard it came down to Firefox wanting
Apple to change their accessibility API to align more with what FF has
already implemented for other platforms. Apple has not been interested.
There is also some funding questions where companies have sponsored
accessibility work for Firefox on other platforms (IBM in particular)
but nobody has done this for the Mac yet, or at least not significantly.

Re: two internet questions with voiceover on a Mac

2010-09-15 Thread Ray Foret Jr
The reason Firefox will not work with Voice OVer is because Mozilla has not
coded it for that yet.

As for form fields, VO+command+j will get you directly both to form
fields and form controls, as will the web item wroter. I knew exactly what you
really meant, and, VO+Option+j will move you quickly to each form field, button
or control. The web item roter is another way to get to all the same entry
fields, buttons, pull down pop up buttons controls and all other types of form
manipulations. Just try it.

Re: two internet questions with voiceover on a Mac

2010-09-15 Thread Chantel Cuddemi
Daniel,
As previously mentioned, firefox is inaccessible with voiceover at this time.
To get to a button, you can hit vo i for the item chooser and hit bu for button
or you can hit vo function j to go between forms on the page.

Re: are there British US or Ostrailan male voices on ipods models/iphone with voiceover yet?

2010-09-15 Thread Chris Moore
I have the exact same problem. And I have noticed since 4.0 upgrade that the
VoiceOver voices are becoming more choppy. The letter r cuts off so quick and
sometimes H sounds like A. I would much prefer some male english voices and am
going to email Apple too.

Hopefully they might listen.

How difficult is it to code an application to work effectively with VO? I'm
wondering what the mozilla hold up is? Does it mean just compiling in some
