Hi Folks, I spoke with one of my work colleagues today, he is a mac specialist. I asked him if there is a read receipt in mac mail, he advised me that no there isn't however there is no reason why you couldn't setup a rule to send out an auto response when the email is received within your system. This can however be a problem if you send a receipt to an out of office alert, which tthen sends back the same out of office alert, and so on and so on. So your rule would have to be very carefully written. Re: Recording the screen with quicktime
Wow! That's quite nice, even if your audio was a little low. Just one question. When you record the screen, does that record you yourself, or does it record what you're doing on your computer? IF that records you yourself, is there a way to record what you're doing on your Mac; in other wores, is there a way to record what your Mac screen actually looks like in case you want to do a tutorial of something you're doing on your Mac? This is a great idea. No, the computers in the office are not connected to an Exchange server, so writing a special rule that would only apply to certain individuals' e-mail addresses would have to be the approach, I guess. I have a vague recollection that someone once said there is a shortcut key for opening the documents folder, something similar to VO_D for going to the Dock. Is there such a key? Re: Receipt Requests in Mail
Take a look at the full headers for one of the messages that requested a return receipt. There should be a header something like "return-reciept-requested:somewh...@watchmyeverymove.com" So, you should be able to use this for your rules. I don't know if you will be able to extract the address from that field using just rules, but you could set up a applescript to do this and then link tha tto your rules. Re: navigating images o websites
Actually in some cases, jaws will read those verticle lines too... In your verbosity settings look for: Document Presentation: This option controls how JAWS formats virtual documents. The simple layout is line-by-line format, much as you might see in a braille book. Columns in a table follow each other in linear format, with special representation removed. The On Screen layout formats text and tables as they appear on screen. A line contains an entire row, rather than a single cell. Cell padding, or borders, are indicated with a | (vertical bar or pipe) symbol. I have not received my mac yet but was wondering if you have a run command and you can type the drive with the folder and the name of the file. For example: in windows you can do windows run to run and c:/folder name / name of file. I was just wondering because that is how I get to my files on the pc. For example: in windows you can do windows run to run and c:/folder name / name of file. I was just wondering because that is how I get to my files on the pc. If you don't, I wrote down the command to get to the files folder for the mac. Thanks Heather -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. Re: shortcut key for opening documents folder
Even better, you can do command-space which brings up spotlight and just type a few characters of the file you're wanting. It will then, more or less instantly, show a list of matches. You can navigate this list to get to the specific file. Search on Windows was always horribly slow to the point of using it only in desperation. Spotlight is fast enough that some even use it as an app launcher by typing in Saf and arrowing down to find Safari and launch it. Safari troubles, when navigating to a previous page
I have a question on safari. Again, I know VO is not jaws, but I can’t help but make comparisons, since it will serve to understand my question. When I use jaws, and am using internet explorer, it remembers where I last was on the previous page. For example, when I am navigating on the list of emails I received, on gmail.com, when I click on an email I receive it will go to that page. Then if I press, alt+left arrow, to go back a page, on the page where my email is displaying, I would go back to the the link I had clicked on the previous page. On safari, every time I go back a page, I am left at the top of the page. Does anyone else get bother by this? This makes it so I have to use more navigation to get where I was at, or for searching on Google, tedious to go back a page and having to press the down arrow, with quick mode on, several times, to get back to the next result of the Google search results. Anyone have any suggestions on how to change this if possible, so that VO will remember where I was if I go back a previous page? Thanks, Alfred. Re: Safari troubles, when navigating to a previous page
Hi Alfredo: Yes I have that same problem too how ever you can use command h to move by headings or you can use vo and the letter u to open the live item roder assuming you're using snow leopard and then using the left and right arrows to move through the different filters in the roder for example you can filter the page by link or heading formfields landmarks non visited links exctra. each Google search result has a heading so you don't really need to arrow through all the crap on the page you can just navigate by heading and the search results will be pretty much all you'll get once your passed the sponcered links. Try these things and let us know how it goes! Win 7 sound muted at Startup Under Bootcamp?
just installed Windows 7 under Bootcamp on my Macbook Pro 13. For the most part, all is well except for a small, though rather annoying oddity with the sound driver. I initially noticed it because I wasn't hearing my Windows startup sound, and wondering why Windows was taking so long to boot. After a little poking around and googling, it turns out that there's a weirdness with the sound driver shipping with current versions of Bootcamp. it apparently mutes sound at startup, or maybe a better way to describe it is that it doesn't unmute sound until after the system has started and the first few initial sounds would have already played. At any rate, does anyone have a workaround for this, or a different driver that will work, etc? Re: making Amadeus Pro fade down to -9DB
No, not if you go to effects/amplify. IF you type -9 and check the fade box, it will in fact fade up from -9 rather than fade down to it. However, I found the solution. Here's what I did. 1. Make a selection. 2. Go to effects/fade submenu/ramp... 3. Choose your beginning percentage. 100 percent is the 0DB normal default audio. 4. Now, choose your ending percentage. 25 percent is usually good. 5. Press okay. 6. Now, move out to the end of the selection by pressing right arrow and set a marker by pressing p. 7. Next, paste over what you want your voice over to say. This, of course, assumes that you've recorded your voice over and put it on the clip board before you went to ramp for the first time. 8. Now, undo that paste over. This will take out the actual voice over but keep the selection which that paste made. 9. Now, go back to effects/fade submenu/ramp...and make sure that your beginning percentage is equal to your ending percentage. This will have the effect of keeping your level down for the selection. 10. Now, repeat the paste over. 11. Now, go back to ramp...and this time, choose your beginning percentage as your lowest level but set your ending percentage back to 100. Press Okay. That will do it. That sounds like a lot of work when you read it like that, but, actually, it's really not that hard. Sincerely, The Constantly Barefooted Ray!!! Re: playing a radio station with the mac
They are using Windows Media for their stream. Since this is a proprietary format made by Microsoft for Windows it doesn't generally work well on any other platform. That also means nobody can make a player for another platform since the way it all works is a company secret. Not sure why they are doing this since there are lots of stations using open and/or cross-platform solutions that work just fine. When you've made a selection, left arrow alone goes to the beginning of the selection. Right arrow alone goes to the end of the selection. IF you want to set a marker at a certain place, just pause the playback and press the p key. Now, move out to the spot where you want the selection to end. Next, press command+y to move the insertion point to that spot. Now, press command+left arrow to move the selection to the marker you added by pressing p. That's all there is to it. Re: help with xm radio site
Actually it should work fine with safari, do you have it set to play in the browser or the quick time player? Re: Roxio Toast Titanium
Hi to my knolige this program is a sucker for accessibility the only thing that doesn't seem to be an unknown is the media browser and even when you interact with that it says unknown you can't really tell adam from eve so to speak. That's the main app cd spen doctor seems to be accessible once you can get passed the default screen it wants to start a new project how ever all the buttons are dimmed so that doesn't make any since so what I had to do is go in to the prefferences and set it to start with the open file dialog because I wanted to open a wave file for cleaning I don't remember what I did but I got it to do what I wanted it to do and most of the "tools and filters hide in the toolbar. - Original Message - From: "Sarai Bucciarelli" To: Sent: Wednesday, July 14, 2010 7:44 PM Subject: Roxio Toast Titanium Hi: Has anyone used this product? safari acting out
Hi: Well, safari's gone bonkers this evening. every time I put in a location on my home page, I get HTML content message, and the voiceover turns itself on and off again and again. I managed to bring up Apple.com, but when I clicked on a link, the same thing happened. Got stuck in "html content", and vo was on/off on/off. Ha ven't had any issues like this before, and I've been running the update for several weeks now. Anyone notice anything like this?
