Yeah I've finally got some better action from vm fusion. Major issues till turning off the mac short cut keys and making sure that function keys were set to work as function keys. Apart from those simple thigns, it's just a lack of ram that seems to be causing the problem. -Original Message- From: macvisionaries@googlegroups.com [mailto:macvisionar...@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Chris Blouch Sent: Friday, 16 October 2009 3:45 a.m. To: macvisionaries@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: parallels 4 The main problem with Jaws on Parallels is that the Jaws video intercept interferes with the Parallels video driver. updating facebook status from the full site?
hey guys back with another question. I use the mobile facebook site all the time but thought I'd check out the full site again since I haven't used it in awhile. it seems okay, a bit cluttered definitely but usable except there doesn't seem to be a way to update your status? there's no edit field. Re: double spacing
Hi May, TextEdit has two formatting modes: plain text and rich text format, and you can switch between them from the Format menu on the menu bar, or by using the shortcut key combination, Command-Shift-T, to toggle between plain text and rich text or vice versa. Automatic double spacing is only supported in rich text format, which is where the ruler appears that has the paragraph and line spacing button, and which is also the only mode that supports style file selections. Your file is using plain text formatting. HTH Cheers, Esther May McDonald wrote: > > Hi there. This doesn't work. When I select the text I want and then > do vo up it says close button. recording lp or tapes to the mac
Hi all. Does anyone know of any good software to use for recording lp or tapes to the mac. I used audio grabber for windows to do that and I really liked the features it have for splitting tracks etc. Is there anything similar on the mac. Free or payed software. I have amadeus for a testdrive but it looks very overkill just for recording tapes and lps to the mac. Any tips are welcome. Re: recording lp or tapes to the mac
Audio Highjack can do what you are wanting. It costs, but not a lot, and the demo allows you a certain amount of time per cessionthen it emposes noise over it, but you can keep running cessions as many times as you like to get a feel for the aplication before deciding to purchase. Re: double spacing
Hi Kevin, Kevin Gibbs wrote: > > How do you tell whether the file is using plain text or rich text? > The settings in the preferences file for each application determine the default format when you create new documents, so using the shortcut key combination Command-comma to show the preferences will give you information on all the default settings that are being used. In TextEdit, the first tab of the preferences file describes the settings for a "New Document" and the very first setting are the selections for document format as plain text or rich text. In mail, the selection information about whether you are composing using a rich text or a plain text message format is given on the "Composing" tab of the Mail preferences pane (so again, you use Command-Comma to show the preferences and in this case navigate to the "Composing" tab to view the options.) Of course, the user can change from the plain text to rich text format for any particular document by using the Format menu options. One way to tell whether the file is using plain text or rich text -- for example, if this isn't a new file that you're editing but one that someone has sent you, or maybe previously saved, or if you don't know what your preference settings are -- is simply to navigate to the Format menu on the application's menu bar (VO-M, then press "F O" or use your arrow keys). When you arrow down into the menu options like "Make Rich Text" or "Make Plain Text" will only exist if your file is initially plain text (in the first case) or rich text (in the second case). I keep my preferences options for TextEdit set so that a ruler is always displayed when possible (check the box for "Show Ruler" on the first "New Document" tab -- I believe this is the default setting, although you can choose to hide the ruler). Since the ruler is only visible in rich text mode (when you choose to have it displayed), you can tell that your TextEdit document is in rich text mode if, when you VO-Up arrow from the body of the document, you find the ruler instead of just the close button of the window as May described. Finally, there is a very good description of the document formats and the different options in the "Help" menu description for TextEdit. For an extensive description of how to use the Help menu (with an example using a list reader's question for a different app), please see my recent post in the archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/macvisionaries%40googlegroups.com/msg11063.html (TIP: How to use Help and Google Searching to learn about your Mac) HTH Cheers, Esther HTH Cheers, Esther > From: May McDonald > Sent: Friday, October 16, 2009 12:40 PM > To: macvisionaries@googlegroups.com > Subject: Re: double spacing > > > > Ah, thank you very much. Questions about Mail with VO
Hi list, I just got my Mac a few weeks ago and am now a shameless evangelist to all the benighted Windows devotees i know. I have greatly benefited from all the knowledge collected in the list archives for a while, but i'm glad to have finally joined today. I have two questions about VO behavior in Mail. First, if I am in one mailbox before quitting Mail and then go back to the Inbox when I restart it, VO often puts me on an early message when I interact with the message table. It will put me on row 17, for instance, when I want to be on the newest message in row 43, which is the one I left the cursor on the last time I was in the InBox. I thought this had something to do with the fact that I was tabbing and shift-tabbing to get between the mailbox and message tables, but VO will forget my position even when I use the VO keys with the arrows instead. I also have the preview pane turned off and am wondering if that's messing things up in some way. Any ideas on this? Secondly, I read that it's possible to rearrange the mailboxes by dragging them into the preferred order. VO's drag-and-drop functionality hasn't ever worked for me with this or anything else I've tried it on. I can't cut the mailboxes to paste them in a different position either. Is there a more effective way to do this? Thanks, Jessie --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. Re: Questions about Mail with VO
Have you got your mouse cursor tracking your VO cursor by any chance? If you do, this might be the reason. Do some experimentation with the cursors tracking or not tracking to see wehther you get a more reliable expereinces. As for the second question, I have never been able to drag and drop with vo successfully. I'm afraid I've just given up on that. But others on the list have been more persistent and able than I have. cannot quit applications on macbook
Hi listers, Twice today, I had something odd occur. First, when using textedit, I was unable to quit the program. It was still responding, and would let me manipulate text, but I was unable to press command Q. Also, the quit option was dimmed in the menu bar. The same thing just happened with Safari. Again, I could go to different web sites, and everything was otherwise working fine. But I could not quit the program. Note: This happened even after I restarted my macbook, thinking it was just acting up. Does anybody have an idea of what is going on here?
