MOF and Free Desktop

Recently, there were some news about discussions about MOF supporting
free desktop.
It was mentioned that one of two major desktops will be used ( flame 
awarenes:) ) with openoffice.
It was also mentioned that Hamakor members were involved in the 
discussions. I couldn't find any reports in Hamakor site.
Can anyone comment/clear the situation?   Shachar, Gilad ?

I tried to give whatever  I had to about it in my blog 
(http://www.israblog.co.il/blogread.asp?blog=35850&blogcode=521199). I 
wrote another entry about Novell, but the site this blog is on is 
unreliable of late, and the post got lost.

One important thing that is not written there - Novell is financing 
adding Hebrew support to Evolution, a project to be carried out by TkOS.

BTW There's a claim that Novell  approached the "Israeli OSS community" with a 
proposition to support a community development of Evolution's Hebrew support. 
Any information on who was contacted and why it was suggested TkOs will take 
this instead? Is Tkos going to repeat OOo's localization model or make it 
possible/easy for  others to contribute?

אורי, אני רוצה להזכיר לך ש"המקור" זו לא חברה היררכית בה הוועד קובע הכל,
וכל מה שמתבצע נעשה בשם הוועד ובברכתו. לוועד יש שליטה על מספר אמצעים ריכוזיים
של העמותה (כסף, קבלות, מעט ציוד, וכד') ומספר תפקידים טכניים וטקסיים נוספים -
אך אנשים אחרים יכולים - ואפילו מוזמנים - אנחנו אפילו מתחננים - ליזום בעצמם
פעילויות למען "המטרה".

כמובן, שמן ההגינות שמי שאינו חבר ועד, או לא פועל באישור הוועד, יציג את עצמו
כ "חבר עמותת המקור", ולא כנציגה. כמו כן, ראוי שמי שעושה פעולה שעשויים להיות
לה הדים נרחבים (כמו פגישה בממשלה) ומתכוון להזכיר שם את "המקור" - שיתייעץ קודם
לכן אם הפורומים שנראים לו מתאימים (קבוצת דיון זו, הוועד, וכד'), כדי למנוע
"פאדיחות". אבל, זה לא אומר שכל מי שמתכוון לעשות משהו לטובת תכנה חופשית ולהזכיר
את עמותת המקור חייב לקבל אישור בשלושה עותקים מהוועד ומקבוצת דיון זו.

היה נחמד להימנע, ככל האפשר, מפעילויות "סודיות" של העמותה. זו אמורה להיות
עמותת קוד *פתוח* - לא כת סודית שיש לה מה להסתיר. כמובן, מכיוון שאני לא מכיר
את הפרטים של פגישה זו, אולי כן היה במקרה זה סיבה להסתירה. אני לא יודע. אני
לא רואה סיבה "לצלוב" את שחר על הפעילות המבורכת שלו בנושא זה.
