[LincolnTalk] Looking for help with chickens/parakeet July 8-23

2023-06-29 Thread Cathie B
Hi,
I am hoping to find someone to check on our 6 chickens, parakeet, and
plants once per day from July 8 to 23. The work would involve collecting
eggs, refilling water and food, and watering some plants. Timing during
the day is flexible. Would be great for a student looking to earn some
spending money this summer!. Happy to pay the going rate. Please reply
directly to hans.cat...@gmail.com if interested.

Thank you!

[LincolnTalk] Bosch dishwasher sales & service

2023-06-29 Thread Buell, Lawrence
Dear neighbors,

We are considering replacement of our lemon Whirlpool with a Bosch. I'd be
grateful for recommendations of reliable sales and service outfits in our area.
(We don't want to go the big box store route.) We like the folks at New
England Appliance very much but unfortunately they carry only American brands.

Judging by website ratings, Jarvis, Doyon, Bright, Hunter etc., all seem iffy.
But if you have had better experience or can suggest another, I'd be grateful
to hear from you.

 Many thanks for any suggestions,

Larry Buell

Re: [LincolnTalk] Joni Mitchell, Olive Kitteridge and the Community Center

2023-06-29 Thread Laura Glynn
I think that is a brilliant idea to ask for the input from the current and
near term senior population in town. Maybe those over 55. Find out what
is important to them today, not 5 or more years ago. I know other groups
want to share the space but let’s find out how seniors look at the benefits
of a new center compared to the costs and the resulting tax hikes.
Especially after the tax hikes from the school that I hear is overbuilt and
underutilized.

Also, I just finished the book Paved Paradise- how requirements for parking
spaces and parking garages have killed our cities and town. Low income
housing is not being built in part because of mandatory new parking space
requirements. mandatory new parking space requirements are creating urban
and suburban asphalt deserts that go unused much of the time and result in
storm water floods. The book reports there are now as many as six parking
spaces in the country for every car. I beseech everyone on the select
board, zoning board and community center board to find time to read that
book or at least get the gist of it. It is directly relevant to the
community center and the housing initiative. Maybe the library can get a
few extra ebook or audio copies.

I look at the parking spaces at the stone church and am baffled how there
is inadequate parking. Except maybe for 2 hours on Sunday morning. I hope
we aren’t following blindly nonsensical parking requirements (nonsensical
is my take after reading Paved Paradise) that are destroying communities.
If It is dangerous to cross the street can’t a crossing light be installed?

But, like Olive Kitteridge, I understand nothing.

[LincolnTalk] MADE IT HOME -- little rooster

2023-06-29 Thread Karen Seo
Hooray 😁! This evening, the little rooster flew into one of the sheep
paddocks and eventually made it home to his coop.Ā  He somehow managed to
avoid the predators and weather the downpour. Perhaps he realized that
his frequent crowing was letting predators know his location. He hasn't
crowed at all since his return.Ā  Thank you to all for your kind thoughts.
