[LincolnTalk] Housing Blues in Boston

2022-04-05 Thread susan winship
Thank you to all who responded to my cries for help.
Although the long term plan for housing is VOTING!! So please vote whenever you
can.

I work with the short term affects of the housing crisis.
This is what SSEF is doing now:
We have hired someone for 15 hours a week to help our families check their
credit score and find housing. We are forming partnerships whenever we can.All
organizations that help with housing are overwhelmed at the moment.
We have set up a housing fund and are asking for contributioins to:
Defray the risk for cosigners by guarenteeing them $10,000 if the renter
defaults
The monies will be assessed in two years and either put in the summer fund or
keep it in housing if there continunies to be need.
We have raised $18,000- our goal is $50,000 ($10,000 allocated for 5 cosigners-
we have 3 so far)

A donation to the housing project would be very helpful as we help these
families find a place to call home.
Otherwise, the families will be on the street. Unbelievably on the street.
These are the working poor. Work one or two jobs and can't pay the rent. The
system is broken.
Please consider a donation SSEFBoston.org
or send a check to:

Re: [LincolnTalk] business trademark

2022-04-05 Thread Rich Rosenbaum
Hi Tom,

Registered trademarks are administered by the US Patent Office (in the US).
Their web site has useful information.

For learning about the various aspects of registering a trademark:

   https://www.uspto.gov/trademarks/basics

A simpler, one page overview:

   https://www.uspto.gov/trademarks/basics/trademark-process

By the way, you don't have to register a trademark to start using one. You
get more protections if you do register it. You can find more information
at:

  https://www.uspto.gov/trademarks/basics/what-trademark

[LincolnTalk] Will anyone need moving boxes in the next week?

2022-04-05 Thread Rachel Shulman
Hello Lincoln!

we just finished moving on Saturday, and I'm going to have a lot of super
strong boxes that were originally used to transport frozen meat. In other
words, they're insulated, which makes the cardboard very study. We also found
that they were really the perfect size for books and dishes - they don't end up
too heavy.

If you're interested, please text me and I'll leave them on our front porch for
you. 217-840-6868.

Thanks!

Best,
Rachel

[LincolnTalk] Looking to buy a house in Lincoln

2022-04-05 Thread Ayalla Roch
Hello All,
We are a family of five, and have been Lincoln residents for a few
years now. Unfortunately, we must leave our beautiful home in the next few
months (but we are very flexible with the timing).
We are looking to buy a house in Lincoln, and though our budget is quite
low in this tough market, we are optimistic and hoping to get some help
here.

We are looking for a suitable property which is up to 1.2M. If you are a
Lincoln seller (or planning to sell soon) who wants to save the agent fee,
or if you work with an agent and want to help some local friends by letting
us know before your house goes on the market, or have any other leads,
please let us know and PM me!

We know the market very well and have been trying to find something using
the traditional ways (MLS, Zillow and real estate agents) but
unfortunately there are currently no suitable properties in the area
(really frustrating) so we hope to get some help here. We love Lincoln so
much and wish we could stay and raise our kids here for many more happy
years.

Any help would be highly appreciated. Thank you!

I concur! I switched last year to Jonathan Fairbanks and he has exceptional

Slightly higher rates but not unreasonable and worth it for the quality.

[LincolnTalk] Need Help Identifying Designer of a Mid-Century Modern Chrome Rocking Chair

2022-04-05 Thread Robert Domnitz
I have a chrome rocking chair that I bought in the late 70's from the Selig
furniture factory in Leominster. It has become a classic. It even showed up
in a then-futuristic movie "2010" with Roy Scheider. I'd like to sell it, but
I've seen it attributed to two different designers: Milo Baughman and Renato
Zevi. Is there anyone in town who might be able to help me properly describe
it? Of course, it would be wonderful if someone in Lincoln bought it.

Here's an ad that attributes it to both designers (!):
