ties over non-tied notes
Hi List! I need ties over other notes, as a simplified notation. In my case it would be right to use for every note that is hold a new voice, I try to explain it in a console-graphical way: _| _||| s2 | |||e2% last tone r4 | r8 | r8 |d ~ d2% is a chord: r8 | abes4 ~ bes2 % 2 g2 ~ g2% " But it is more readable when one uses only one voice and ties over the non-tied or later tied note(s): (still in a console-graphical way explained): _| | | ||| | | ||e2 | | |d8 ~ d2 | | bes8 ~ bes2 | a8 g8~ g2 But the problem is: how to do that? I use lilypond 2.2.0 on linux, and found nothing, also in the tips and tricks. Francois PS: I had on Sunday a short seminar to help some of my musicians start with lilypond. It was well, I hope they will continue work with lilyp and will continue to assist them for a while. Thanks special to Bertalan for the quick anwer about overwriting .pdf. I really didnt knew (now I know), and my guys were also impressed about the quick answer! (try to get an answer at coda oder sibelius!) ___ lilypond-user mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/lilypond-user

Dear Francois, If I understand you, this should sound like \arpeggio except that you are specifying how long each note should last before the following one gets played. Is this correct? How about this (Lilypond 2.4.2): \score { \relative c' \new Staff { << { g8 a bes d 2 } \new Voice { \hideNotes g2 ~ g2 } \new Voice { s8 \hideNotes a4. ~ a2 } \new Voice { s4 \hideNotes bes4 ~ bes2 } \new Voice { s4. \hideNotes d8 ~ d2 } >> } } If you want, you can adjust the tie direction using \tieDown and \tieUp in the four voices. Hope this is what you wants. T1 encoding and feta20.afm error
To display Polish characters I've declared in header field according to Mat Bengtsson's suggestions as follows: ` \header { fontencoding = "T1" inputencoding = "cp1250" ' I have installed also tetex-base package according to mail of Mat Bengtsson: 'If you run cygwin, you probably have installed only tetex-tiny, which is a minimal subset of the teTeX distribution that supports normal use of LilyPond but not more. Rerun setup.exe and select the package tetex-base to get a more complete set of fonts and LaTeX packages. Still, teTeX does not contain any vector fonts with T1 encoding, so you will get some warnings from dvips and bitmaps in the PS and PDF files, which looks bad on screen but works well in the printouts. There are free vector fonts (Type1 fonts) available but I guess you have to install them yourself. Search for cm-super at www.ctan.org for more information.' The problem is now that I can't lilypond any file, beacause I am informed about following problem: Parsing... Interpreting music... error: can't find `feta20.afm' Fonts have not been installed properly. Aborting, lilypond: error: LilyPond failed on input file entertainer < exit status 1> lilypond: warning: Running LilyPond failed. Rerun with --verbose for a trace. RE: T1 encoding and feta20.afm error
I had a similar problem when I upgraded to 2.4 lilypond under cygwin. Turned out that there was an environment variable problem. I added this to my .bashrc file: export TEXMF='{/usr/share/lilypond/2.4.2,/usr/share/texmf}' and lilypond was happy. Interestingly, lilypond worked just fine when I ran a plain bash shell without X. I only saw the problem when I ran lilypond in a xterm. - James ___ lilypond-user mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/lilypond-user
Re: T1 encoding and feta20.afm error
This should definitely not be necessary. As described in some earlier emails in the mailing list, you may have play some tricks with the TEXMF variable if you already have TeXLive or some other TeX installation in Windows that sets the environment variable. However, in that case it is better to just clear the variable in the startup scripts for cygwin and let the ordinary cygwin mechanisms set the variable correct. From the log in the original mail, the line TEXMF={/usr/share/lilypond/2.2.5,} indicates that something is wrong related to this variable, before the lilypond related setup file adds its setting. The first thing I would check is if the changes you have made earlier to /etc/profile/ still remain, or if they have been overwritten when you rerun setup.exe. /Mats James Moore wrote: I had a similar problem when I upgraded to 2.4 lilypond under cygwin.
