My problem is there are things happening before it ever gets to my
software.  The issue is at the server level.  It was / is function, not
security.   I would normally get 3 to 5 e-mails a day and 25 to 30+
spams on the server.  I would delete the spams on the server every
couple of days after checking them to insure they were in fact all
spam.  They never downloaded to my home computer.  I got all my test, a
test from my wife, all post from the net, all one of them other than my
test, and on the server there is only one spam. There should have be 50+
spams on the server.   Someone in tech support changed something after
telling me there was nothing they could do.  I can only assume I'm
getting all my e-mails but there is no way of knowing.

As for updating my software I'll upgrade from Windows 7 when they pry it
from my bony old fingers.  One of my Observations on Life is "Stubborn
grows on old age like wrinkles".  Everyone catches it if they live long
enough.

You might try turning off the spam filter at the server and deal with it
locally. Thunderbird has a reasonable heuristics based junk/spam filter,
so you would still have the same opportunity to verify whether or not
your "spam" is still spam. Thunderbird will also move the email on the
server based on your selection. It took me a while to get used to that
and I am thinking about going back to Outlook and the MS Office Suite,
but haven't decided yet.

Larry,

Sounds like Frontier is not providing you what you want. GMail has one of
the best spam filters, but some don't like the loss of privacy to Google's
advertising platform. If best privacy is your thing, then go with
ProtonMail. They are based in Switzerland (better privacy laws) and have a
free account option for your level of usage. You can opt to not use the
SaaS app (desktop and mobile) that both Google and Protonmail provides and
always pull your mail to Thunderbird if you wish.

Actually I'm getting what I want, e-mails without downloading the spam
to my desktop but something has changed since my interaction with
Frontier and Yahoo.  Everything was going fine as it has for years when
suddenly the server was dumping all the spam to my desktop when I
checked mail.  For years it has filtered and held spam on the server.
After my interaction with Frontier and Yahoo I still seem to get my
e-mails but no spam on the download and no spam filtered and held on the
server.  Did all the 50 or so spamers all go on vacation at the same
time?  Something has changed and I'm wondering what it is.

I hit the button too soon.  I meant to include a photo.  This is what I
was greeted with this morning.  This will happen to all builders and
fliers somewhere down the road.  Get it built, get it flying.  The clock
is ticking...

If you're still reading I'll share something else on the subject of
smart phones and AI.  My smart phone (Apple) is programmed to learn my
routine.  When I get in my truck to go home after work I remove my phone
from the holster to check for any missed calls / text and without
touching a thing it opens the GPS program and gives me the distance and
ETA to drive home.  This morning after our usual Saturday morning
breakfast get-together I got in my truck, pulled out my phone to check,
and the GPS popped up and gave me the distance and ETA to the local
airport that I stop at every Saturday morning after breakfast.   AI is
not to be feared it's the people writing the software that should be
feared, especially if they are the people in power.  AI is nothing more
than a totally obedient servant to it's master.  How many days to the
Gathering?  Are your plans made?.

Well, if you are not having any problems with your smartphone email app,
just your T-bird desktop app, then maybe you recently updated the app and
you need to revisit the settings to make sure you are only pulling the mail
from the inbox folder?

Steve,

I NEVER check e-mail with my phone , only the desktop and I didn't
update anything.  Maybe Windows did but I must approve all updates and
I've not done any in weeks.   It is working o.k. now but after a couple
of days of it screwing up and then my talk with tech support my scam
e-mail is almost non existent.  I'm just wondering what the tech did to
knock my spam from 50+ a day to maybe 1 or 2 and if now I'm getting all
my e-mails.  It seems like I am so it's good for now.  It's just that
the mystery remains..
