[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1774752] Re: Ubuntu 18.04 Desktop UEFI OS Install options in Grub.cfg

2018-06-02 Thread Arun
Issue is not specific to 18.04, but what I can say is:
Until now, we were installing EFI method with this linux/initrd options. But
now we need to test with pure EFI option, so we are forced to use linuxefi and
initrdefi.

We are ok with one of the following options.

1. how to change permanently in grub.cfg the linux to linuxefi and initrd to
initrdefi
2. Two options in OS install, one as linux/initrd and another option as
linuxefi/initrdefi, so that we do not have to change everytime we install the
OS.

Bug description:
  We are facing issue installing Ubuntu 18.04 Desktop, but if we change
  linux to linuxefi and initrd to initrdefi, it works.

  We wanted to make that change permanently in ISO/USB file.

  We cannot mount the /dev/sdb1 rw, and make the changes.

  So every boot, we have to edit.

  Can you please help us, how we can get around this, and make this change
permanent in the grub.cfg file

No sound yet.
Here I have attached my dmesg output. Hope that gets us somewhere useful.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1981433] Re: [Asus Zenbook UX3402ZA] Sound doesn't work at all

2022-10-19 Thread Arun
Here are the output of the above hda-verb commands.

arun@arunpc:~$ sudo hda-verb /dev/snd/hwC0D0 0x20 SET_COEF_INDEX 0x40
[sudo] password for arun:
nid = 0x20, verb = 0x500, param = 0x40
value = 0x0
arun@arunpc:~$  sudo hda-verb /dev/snd/hwC0D0 0x20 GET_PROC_COEF 0
nid = 0x20, verb = 0xc00, param = 0x0
value = 0x420

This didn't solve either.

2022-10-22 Thread Arun
Hi there,

The above kernel didn't help either.

I can still see the following output in dmesg.

[   12.011038] cs35l41_hda: probe of spi0-CSC3551:00-cs35l41-hda.0 failed with
error -22
[   12.014729] cs35l41_hda: probe of spi0-CSC3551:00-cs35l41-hda.1 failed with

Thanks!

Same here, I tried almost everything possible searching through the web.
No sound, might be issue with Cirrus amps driver issue? A quick work
around or fix would be appreciated. :)

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1981433] Re: [Asus Zenbook UX3402ZA] Sound doesn't work at all

2022-09-25 Thread Arun
It never worked with Ubuntu/Linux kernel. It works fine when booted to
Microsoft Windows.
I even tried the latest upstream kernel 6.0.0-rc6-next-20220921, no luck with
it either.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1415880] Re: 14e4:4365 bcmwl-kernel source: fix for null pointer crash

2016-03-05 Thread Arun kumar
I've this version of the driver
(https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/wily/amd64/bcmwl-kernel-source/6.30.223.248+bdcom-0ubuntu7)
 installed on dell inspiron 5520 which has same BCM43142 WIFI adapter. I'm
having the same problem with the latest version of the package installed on
ubuntun 15.10.
Followed recommendations to fix wifi adapter to a fixed Access Point but still
it is roaming and gets disconnected after an interval of time.
Any updates on this ?

  [Impact]

   * bcmwl does not compile on new kernels (or HWE kernels)
   * bcmwl suffers from null reference bug

  [Test Case]

   * public PPA provided to community and feedback
   * based on patch available to other distros
   * comment #42

  [Regression Potential]

   * for changes on kernel support it may not compile (tested with 3.2, 3.13,
3.18 and 4.2)
   * for the null reference change -> proved to fix problem for community based
on feedback

  [Other Info]

  Original bug description:

  The bcmwl package as of now misses one patch for a bug that occurs
  with BCM43142 and possibly other broadcom chipsets that will look like
  random disconnects, poor wifi signal and kernel warnings, See also
  #1379524.

  Adding the patch is a fairly simple process:

  * put the patch file in /usr/src/bcmwl-6.30.223.248+bdcom/patches
  * add the following line to /usr/src/bcmwl-6.30.223.248+bdcom/dkms.conf
  PATCH[7]="0014-null-pointer-crash.patch"
  * run: /usr/lib/dkms/common.postinst bcmwl 6.30.223.248+bdcom
/usr/share/bcmwl x86_64 $(uname -r)

  This has fixed the issue for me. Edit: I just wanted to add that I did
  not write the patch; I merely downloaded it from a paste that was
  linked from the respective AUR package.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 2016459] Re: NVRM: RmInitAdapter failed! , failed to copy vbios to system memory

Unfortunately, just the 6.2.0-24-generic + 390.157-0ubuntu5.23.04.1
didn't work for my laptop with 820M. I get a blinking cursor black
screen after the Ubuntu splash. Maybe I missed something from your
config/setup.

For example,
> deactivated the mainline-kernel installed manual
Can you explain what this means?

Or do you have any other suggestions?
