Bug description:
I updated kernel to 4.13.0-37-generic, and after reboot, it freezes on
the kde login screen. Even sysrq keys does not work. I rebooted again,
and be able to enter password, then it freezes again on plasma loading
screen. I finally selected 4.13.0-36-generic kernel from grub, and my
computer booted normally. I guess there was a kernel panic, but it

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1888461] [NEW] After upgrade, Linux will not boot

2020-07-21 Thread NoBugs!
Public bug reported:

I have been running 18.04 upgraded on my laptop and today after a
restart-to-upgrade... starting up with Ubuntu 4.15.0-112, the latest
update, it blinks, shows Superblock last write time is in the future...
messages in the top left of the screen, then blanks black screen and
shows the error again.

This is super confusing as I checked the time in BIOS, "date" on terminal and
they were correct.
Adjtime hasn't been changed since 2018 and contains:

$ cat /etc/adjtime
0.0 0 0.0
0
LOCAL

When I go to advanced options I chose the last kernel and now it boots ok.

2020-07-22 Thread NoBugs!
Ok but now it's looping a different error message, maybe just whatever the last
message was?
And again using the previous kernel works. See attached.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1395258] Re: Ubuntu continuously suspends, resumes, suspends, resumes, when battery low

2017-07-25 Thread NoBugs!
Yes, FYI this has still not been fixed and it still happens on
4.2.0-42-generic

In fact when I deliberately hit suspend action from top right it starts
up again and eats up battery.

I've had this problem happen at least once before - when Ubuntu sees
battery is critically low, it suspends, but immediately starts up
again, shows login screen, suspends, starts up to the login screen,
suspends. Even if you log in quickly and click "suspend", or shut the
laptop, it still suspends and resumes again and again.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1552750] Re: i915 corruption in 4.4.0-9

2017-03-04 Thread NoBugs!
I still see this on Intel 14.04 machine with 4.4.0-64-generic
#85~14.04.1-Ubuntu. It happens in fairly random way quite often after
close and open of the laptop.

Images may either not display: http://askubuntu.com/questions/850754
/what-happened-to-my-dash-icons

or show up with garbling as in attached screenshot.

It may or may not be only the outer fullscreen restore button, as it
always is at the moment. It showed in the upper right icon for awhile,
it's like something is putting random junk in some random image memory
location?

  Hi Tim,

Text is getting corrupted in 4.4.0-9. I see changes have been made to

This is very similar to what I saw:

I would deem this release critical, if reproducible. I'm on Lenovo

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1395258] Re: Ubuntu continuously suspends, resumes, suspends, resumes, when battery low

2014-11-22 Thread NoBugs!
I updated with the latest kernel .deb, uname -a gives me:

Linux linuxlaptop 3.18.0-031800rc5-generic #201411162035 SMP Mon Nov 17
01:36:34 UTC 2014 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

I still see the problem. When it suspends at low battery, it immediately
starts up again, but doesn't go into an infinite loop of suspend-
resumes. When I shut it I hear it suspend, disk powers down, then it
powers up.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1395258] Re: Ubuntu continuously suspends, resumes, suspends, resumes, when battery low

2014-11-25 Thread NoBugs!
I tested an old 13.04 disk ( I don't know if I have a 13.10 around), and
it gave numerious Unity/Compiz crash warnings, and on low-battery it did
try to shut down and immediatly came back up like in Trusty.

2014-11-26 Thread NoBugs!
Just tried 3.18.0-031800rc6-generic 64-bit, it tries to suspend, and
just starts up again to lock screen. No infinite loop, at least.

The same happens in 3.19.0-031900rc7-generic

Does this bug need to go to the Linux Kernel tracker?

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1181392] Re: [Solved for me]Kernel Panic not syncing fatal exception in interrupt-solved for me, firmware-b43-lpphy-installer instead of b43-firmware solves the panic

2013-07-20 Thread NoBugs!
I had no problems with my broadcom card in the last year or two, but I
just got this Kernel Panic not syncing fatal exception in interrupt
error, this was awhile after running the updates.

Now it won't boot up Ubuntu - I managed to get it to boot Ubuntu 10
livecd, and checked memory to be ok. I booted the Mac OS partition that
came with it, and the graphics were smaller resolution in the top left
of the screen, and messed up.

I wonder if this is related to hardware failure, this was on an older
macbook.

Bug description:
I have a Lenovo ThinkPad Twist (convertible ultrabook with Core i7
processor) with touch screen, touch pad, rubber nipple mouse, and
external Bluetooth mouse. From these 4 mice 2 always work, the touch
screen and the external Bluetooth mouse.

The touchpad and the nipple do not work right after turning on the
machine, only when I reboot the machine they work after rebooting. I
have observed the problem only recently, so it is perhaps triggered by
the BIOS upgrade to version 1.57. The problem is independent of the
Ubuntu version. I did not only observe it on the installed Raring and
Saucy systems but also with several live CDs of older Ubuntu versions
  (Quantal, Precise).

There is also another user with the same problem. See

  http://www.iasptk.com/ubuntuwp/tag/13-10/

and search for "twist". Unfortunately, the question got removed from
Ask Ubuntu, but one can still access the dmesg output from this user
  on
