[kde-freebsd] wrong install location??
(not subscribed to the list, please CC:) Hello: I don't do much with KDE, so maybe this is the way it's supposed to work. However ... I just install kdegames4. I was expecting the executables to go in /usr/local/bin. Instead thay have apparently gone into /usr/local/kde4/bin, and non-executables into equivalent directories. Is this the default for KDE? Hello, I'm installing a laptop from scratch with 7.1-REL, portsnap fetch and portsnap extract to replace the 7.0-REL in the laptop of my wife :-) my question is concerning KDE4: is the port (4.1.4) now stable enough to be used or should I stay with KDE 3.5.10? when I tried it in August 2008 KDE4 was far away to be used in production or by unexperienced users; opinions? thx matthias -- Matthias Apitz Manager Technical Support - OCLC GmbH Gruenwalder Weg 28g - 82041 Oberhaching - Germany t +49-89-61308 351 - f +49-89-61308 399 - m +49-170-4527211 e - w http://www.oclc.org/ http://www.UnixArea.de/ b http://gurucubano.blogspot.com/ SPAMer of the year: Subject: Alle Software ist Deutsche Sprachen >From: -40 % die Neujahrsaktion ___ kde-freebsd mailing list kde-freebsd@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kde-freebsd See also http://freebsd.kde.org/ for latest information
[kde-freebsd] 4.1.4 package issues

I'm using 4.1.3 on my work laptop, and while annoying in spots, it is fairly stable. In terms of the FreeBSD ports, it's hard for me to say because I haven't used it that much. Mostly this is because I have an older single-core system with a middle-aged video card. But from what I have seen it appears to be stable, and only hangs if you mess around with desktop effects. -- David Johnson ___ kde-freebsd mailing list kde-freebsd@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kde-freebsd See also http://freebsd.kde.org/ for latest information

Yes, it is currently the default. While this does cause some problems, it is necessary so that KDE3 and KDE4 do not conflict.
