I'm not able to figure out that slowness, but I found a scientificless
workaround:
start kde4 through .xinitrc,  wait until destkop appears,  launch
dolphin from kickoff menu.
While dolphin is loading  kill X with ctrl+alt+backspace then restart
kde4. Now it works.

Some process (kded4, mysqld, pulseaudio and an unknown 'sh') survives
making the second launch the right start.
I'll continue to investigate.
