Setting `XDG_SESSION_TYPE=x11` in environment variable for zoom, stops the dialog from showing "Can not start share, Wayland is supported on" and a dialog appears allowing you to choose screen to share. However, clicking on the screen (be it full screen or window), will cause a green border to appear around the screen indicating screen sharing should be happening. For example: if I search for the term "shrimp" with krunner, it would be nice if it finds it within my libreoffice writer document and open the document to page 4 halfway down the page, where that term is found. If there are multiple terms it would be nice if it presented multiple options from the same document (with a few words before and after for context) or from other documents. [kde] [Bug 484291] New: [Request] Expanding functionality of Krunner - Searching internet directly from desktop using krunner and presenting results
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=484291 Bug ID: 484291 Summary: [Request] Expanding functionality of Krunner - Searching internet directly from desktop using krunner and presenting results Classification: I don't know Product: kde Version: unspecified Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: unassigned-b...@kde.org Reporter: agap...@hotmail.com Target Milestone: --- Would it be possible to do a search query from the desktop using krunner and then having it show top 5 internet search engine results for a query directly in krunner. Would that be difficult to implement? For example, if I search for `g gaming` using krunner it would be nice if it showed the following results: Youtube: gaming Reddit: r/gaming Wikipedia: gaming Verge: gaming CNET: gaming More: gaming - click here for more results While also presenting a brief explanation of each link. It would further expand the functionality of using krunner to search for stuff. I think the convenience and utility of such a feature is truly immense - being able to select the link that interests you (or even expand it further to look in the browser) would save so much time when googling stuff (sometimes I just want to briefly google a highly technical term and having to type `g term` and then scroll through browser for example, is much slower than having it briefly appear on desktop and then moving on. When you have to write a thesis, every bit of time saved is a godsend! If it's too difficult to add I understand, but it would sure be great to have and really put KDE ahead of everyone even more than it is! -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[kde] [Bug 484290] [Request] Expanding functionality of Krunner - Searching text within documents
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=484290 --- Comment #1 from agap...@hotmail.com --- (In reply to agap...@hotmail.com from comment #0) > Is it possible to make krunner find specific text within pdf/writer/etc > documents and then open the document to the specific location in the > document of that text? or at least have krunner show a "quote" with that > search term (from the document) so i could copy/paste and look for it in the > document manually? > > For example: if I search for the term "shrimp" with krunner, it would be > nice if it finds it within my libreoffice writer document and open the > document to page 4 halfway down the page, where that term is found. If there > are multiple terms it would be nice if it presented multiple options from > the same document (with a few words before and after for context) or from > other documents. > > This missing functionality will put KDE so much further ahead of both > Windows and MacOS (not to mention how useful it would be to have!) In addition, I forgot to mention (and I don't know how to edit here), that it would be nice if when you search for "shrimp" using krunner it presents a brief description from the document: "...does not eat shrimp as it he has allergies" with the word shrimp highlighted/italicized and then clicking it will open the specific document to that page where the term is located (as mentioned previously). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Perhaps adding the option of using regular pipewire as a backend to spectacle would simplify development by adding the ability to add desktop sound and improve screen capture quality, as the devs would no longer be constrained by the features available in Kpipewire? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Switching Spectacle to regular > PipeWire would be more work than adding audio support to KPipeWire because > we'd have to reimplement support for what we already have and still have to > implement audio support. Audio and video frames aren't automatically mixed > together by PipeWire just because PipeWire can handle audio and video, so > it's not like there's an easy way out of implementing audio recording > support somewhere. We're constrained because there is currently nobody > available with the right kind of skills to do the work of implementing audio > support. This problem would still exist with or without KPipeWire. Maybe > someday somebody will have the time and skills required to do it. Thank you for your response Noah :) that makes sense. It's a huge shame, if I had the money I would offer a bounty to help get it up to snuff since I can't offer coding expertise. [kdenlive] [Bug 493342] Nvidia GPU acceleration does not seem to work on timeline/preview

Update this bug report with the > results (good or bad). > > In general, you can improve playback performance by (a) using proxies, (b) > reducing the preview resolution from 1:1 to 720p or lower, and (c) use the > preview render feature Apologies for the late reply, I needed time to test things. I am using version 24.08.2 The playback and rendering on the timeline is still slow. Adding a 1080p video slowed down playback significantly without proxy clips. Adding proxy clips made it better. However, adding effects like "obscure" and "Guassian Blur" will reduce the playback to a crawl even with proxy clips on a relatively recent pc that plays games fine. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

I couldn't find anything in the UI that would allow me to do this. Adding it to `/usr/share/kdenlive/effect-templates` did not work STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Download effect from FXFactory 2. [kdenlive] [Bug 493805] New: Cannot access projects from SAMBA network share
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=493805 Bug ID: 493805 Summary: Cannot access projects from SAMBA network share Classification: Applications Product: kdenlive Version: unspecified Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: Video Display & Export Assignee: j...@kdenlive.org Reporter: agap...@hotmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY Attempting to access a large project from network share that is mounted via fstab, results in kdenlive freezing and becoming unresponsive STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Set up a SAMBA share with ubuntu server 2. save all the assets and .kdenlive file to the samba share 3. Attempt to access the .kdenlive file from samba share OBSERVED RESULT If it is a long video with many assets (over 90 in my case), kdenlive freezes during the "building timeline" message even though it can load the timeline. Leaving kdenilve for about an hour will result in the timeline eventually loading with all the assets, but the program is unusuable as it keeps freezing. There are no permission issues with the share, since other programs (like OBS), sonarr/radarr/etc are able to write to it. Attempting to launch through the terminal shows that kdenlive gets stuck at "getting thumbnail -1 x -1". The same video saved locally on a non-network share is able to load quickly with no issues. EXPECTED RESULT Working from a mounted network share should work the same as working locally.
