I am able to get zoom screensharing working. Kind of.

Setting `XDG_SESSION_TYPE=x11` in environment variable for zoom, stops the
dialog from showing "Can not start share, Wayland is supported on" and a
dialog appears allowing you to choose screen to share. However, clicking on the
screen (be it full screen or window), will cause a green border to appear
around the screen indicating screen sharing should be happening. But the
preview shows a gray hatched error screen and the screen does not show up.

Screen sharing works on google meets via firefox and on obs

[kmail2] [Bug 483004] New: Kmail does not reauthenticate O365 and crashes when attempting

2024-03-09 Thread agapp11
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=483004

Bug ID: 483004
Summary: Kmail does not reauthenticate O365 and crashes when
attempting
Classification: Applications
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 6.0.0
  Platform: Arch Linux
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: misc
  Assignee: kdepim-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: agap...@hotmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

When I wake the computer from sleep, kmail EWS (O365) does not wake up and
remains offline. Clicking `Update Folder/Update Folder and all its Subcontents`
will start showing Kmail doing stuff. But then the program will crash. In order
for EWS service to go back online, I either need to login again manually or
restart app

NOTE: If you are reporting a crash, please try to attach a backtrace with debug
symbols.
See
https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports
***

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Put computer into sleep
2. Leave it for 10 min - 30 min
3. Leave kmail open in tray
4. Wake computer from sleep
5. open kmail from tray
6. right click `Update Folder/Update Folder and all its Subcontents`
7. EWS mailbox stays offline
8. Click settings --> configure kmail --> recieving --> modify --> EWS settings
`reconnect`
9. Sometimes a crash will happen

OBSERVED RESULT

Program will crash and then restart

However, once program goes `offline` it is impossible to get it to go online
without reauthenticating or restarting kmail

EXPECTED RESULT

EWS mailbox reauthenticates automatically and goes online

It seems like its not authenticating properly - ie it can't store/use the

Its not a ram issue - I have a 10GB swap file. I only have 3 Gbs on root
partition remaining and the backtrace generated fails with "SEGFAULT INTERNAL
ERROR" that seems to be related to runninng out of memory.

Is it possible to have the backtrace saved to my /home/ partition?

Kmail doesn't work at all now.

After some time I get my IMAP hotmail account giving an error it can't
authenticate the account any longer (though it works initially) and EWS is just
broken and can't authenticate the account (gives an "access is denied" error
when it did not previously).

Can it be fixed please? Kmail is a nice client for linux and is almost the only
one that has EWS working for my organization.

So for IMAP OAUTH support, it doesn't work for my organization due to the way
its set up. It gives the error "Needs Admin Approval" and IT does not want to
give due to not knowing what Kmail. They say to just switch to outlook. EWS
(where you login from external page) used to work fine, but now it doesn't.

I can't consistently reproduce the crash so I can't use gdb.

With the update to Plasma 6.0.2 things have gotten worse. Now the
authentication breaks even during use of the computer (not after sleep like
before) and sends the notification "Resource is broken. Authentication failed"

Thanks for fixing it! Now a new error shows up:

`Email sending failed: Failed to get D-Bus interface of mailfilteragent`

Not sure if its important but I thought i'd mention it.

[kde] [Bug 484265] New: [Feature Request] Extending Krunner functionality

2024-03-22 Thread agapp11
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=484265

Bug ID: 484265
Summary: [Feature Request] Extending Krunner functionality
Classification: I don't know
   Product: kde
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: unassigned-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: agap...@hotmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Is it possible to make krunner find specific text within pdf/writer/etc
documents and then open the document to the specific location of that
documnent? or at least have krunner show a "quote" with that search term so i
could copy/paste and look for it in the document manually?

In addition, how do I make krunner present search results directly in krunner?

I believe this will greatly expand krunner functionality and put KDE so much
further ahead of windows.

PS: Would also be great to have krunner show top 5 internet search engine
results for a query directly in krunner. Would that be difficult to implement?

[kde] [Bug 484290] New: [Request] Expanding functionality of Krunner - Searching text within documents

2024-03-22 Thread agapp11
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=484290

Bug ID: 484290
Summary: [Request] Expanding functionality of Krunner -
Searching text within documents
Classification: I don't know
   Product: kde
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: unassigned-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: agap...@hotmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Is it possible to make krunner find specific text within pdf/writer/etc
documents and then open the document to the specific location in the document
of that text? or at least have krunner show a "quote" with that search term
(from the document) so i could copy/paste and look for it in the document
manually?

For example: if I search for the term "shrimp" with krunner, it would be nice
if it finds it within my libreoffice writer document and open the document to
page 4 halfway down the page, where that term is found. If there are multiple
terms it would be nice if it presented multiple options from the same document
(with a few words before and after for context) or from other documents.

This missing functionality will put KDE so much further ahead of both Windows
and MacOS (not to mention how useful it would be to have!)

[kde] [Bug 484291] New: [Request] Expanding functionality of Krunner - Searching internet directly from desktop using krunner and presenting results

2024-03-22 Thread agapp11
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=484291

Bug ID: 484291
Summary: [Request] Expanding functionality of Krunner -
Searching internet directly from desktop using krunner
and presenting results
Classification: I don't know
   Product: kde
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: unassigned-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: agap...@hotmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Would it be possible to do a search query from the desktop using krunner and
then having it show top 5 internet search engine results for a query directly
in krunner. Would that be difficult to implement?

For example, if I search for `g gaming` using krunner it would be nice if it
showed the following results:

Youtube: gaming

Reddit: r/gaming

Wikipedia: gaming

Verge: gaming

CNET: gaming

More: gaming - click here for more results

While also presenting a brief explanation of each link. It would further expand
the functionality of using krunner to search for stuff. I think the convenience
and utility of such a feature is truly immense - being able to select the link
that interests you (or even expand it further to look in the browser) would
save so much time when googling stuff (sometimes I just want to briefly google
a highly technical term and having to type `g term` and then scroll through
browser for example, is much slower than having it briefly appear on desktop
and then moving on. When you have to write a thesis, every bit of time saved is
a godsend!

If it's too difficult to add I understand, but it would sure be great to have
and really put KDE ahead of everyone even more than it is!

In addition, I forgot to mention (and I don't know how to edit here), that it
would be nice if when you search for "shrimp" using krunner it presents a brief
description from the document:

"...does not eat shrimp as it he has allergies"

with the word shrimp highlighted/italicized and then clicking it will open the
specific document to that page where the term is located (as mentioned
previously).

[kde] [Bug 489760] New: [Plasma 6.1.1] Spectacle does not screen record and crashes

2024-07-04 Thread agapp11
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=489760

Bug ID: 489760
Summary: [Plasma 6.1.1] Spectacle does not screen record and
crashes
Classification: I don't know
   Product: kde
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: unassigned-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: agap...@hotmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Spectacle screen recording was working until Plasma 6.1 update. Now it is able
to turn on and start screen recording but will freeze and crash when you try to
click on the "recording" button in system tray and the recording will not be
saved.

I don't know how to gather logs from it. If someone guides me through that I
will post spectacle logs too. It doesn't matter whether you use rectangle
region or fullscreen or even window, its the same issue all around.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Start Spectacle
2. Click "Recording" tab
3. Choose whether to record Window, Rectangular Region or Full Screen
4. Click "Include pointer"
5. Start recording
6. After recording for a bit try to close the recording by pressing on the
"recording" circle in the tray

OBSERVED RESULT
- Spectacle will freeze and become unresponsive until a dialog appears asking
whether to wait or close it
- Recording is not saved

EXPECTED RESULT
- Spectacle to stop recording
- Spectacle to save recording

I wanted to ask - what is the advantage of KPipewire over regular Pipewire?
Perhaps adding the option of using regular pipewire as a backend to spectacle
would simplify development by adding the ability to add desktop sound and
improve screen capture quality, as the devs would no longer be constrained by
the features available in Kpipewire?

Thank you for your response Noah :) that makes sense. It's a huge shame, if I

Apologies for the late reply, I needed time to test things.

I am using version 24.08.2

The playback and rendering on the timeline is still slow. Adding a 1080p video
slowed down playback significantly without proxy clips. Adding proxy clips made
it better. However, adding effects like "obscure" and "Guassian Blur" will
reduce the playback to a crawl even with proxy clips on a relatively recent pc
that plays games fine.

[kdenlive] [Bug 493805] New: Cannot access projects from SAMBA network share

2024-09-28 Thread agapp11
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=493805

Bug ID: 493805
Summary: Cannot access projects from SAMBA network share
Classification: Applications
   Product: kdenlive
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Video Display & Export
  Assignee: j...@kdenlive.org
  Reporter: agap...@hotmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Attempting to access a large project from network share that is mounted via
fstab, results in kdenlive freezing and becoming unresponsive

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Set up a SAMBA share with ubuntu server
2. save all the assets and .kdenlive file to the samba share
3. Attempt to access the .kdenlive file from samba share

OBSERVED RESULT
If it is a long video with many assets (over 90 in my case), kdenlive freezes
during the "building timeline" message even though it can load the timeline.
Leaving kdenilve for about an hour will result in the timeline eventually
loading with all the assets, but the program is unusuable as it keeps freezing.
There are no permission issues with the share, since other programs (like OBS),
sonarr/radarr/etc are able to write to it.

Attempting to launch through the terminal shows that kdenlive gets stuck at
"getting thumbnail -1 x -1".

The same video saved locally on a non-network share is able to load quickly
with no issues.

EXPECTED RESULT

Working from a mounted network share should work the same as working locally.
