[dolphin] [Bug 480596] New: Dolphin - Problem with old and heavy .doc files
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=480596 Bug ID: 480596 Summary: Dolphin - Problem with old and heavy .doc files Classification: Applications Product: dolphin Version: 23.08.4 Platform: Fedora RPMs OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: minor Priority: NOR Component: view-engine: tooltip Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: fabian.espos...@outlook.com CC: kfm-de...@kde.org Target Milestone: --- Created attachment 165392 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=165392&action=edit doc file I was able to find, supposedly not copyrighted, that presents such problem with dolphin. # SUMMARY Dolphin hangs and becomes unresponsive for tens of second when having to show informations (Either panel or tooltip) of old and heavy .doc files (Although I have encountered the problem with file less than 1mb in size) as well when opening the propriety tab of the same .doc files. I don't have the calligra's word thumbnailer enabled. I'm able to click and select the files when I have both the tooltip and the information panel disabled without having Dolphin become unresponsive, although if I then open the propriety tab, it hangs again. # STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Click or navigate to one of these old .doc files using Dolphin (if tooltip or information panel are enabled is enough) 2. Open the propriety tab of the same file (if tooltip and information panel are disabled) # OBSERVED RESULT Dolphin hangs and becomes unresponsive for tens of second, the time seems slightly related to the size of the file. # EXPECTED RESULT As with the other .doc file or newer .docx , selecting the file and showing the information (either via thumbnail or panel information) should be seamless. # SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux: Fedora 39 KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.10 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.113.0 Qt Version: 5.15.12 -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[dolphin] [Bug 480596] Freeze when fetching metadata for large text document
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=480596 --- Comment #2 from Fabian Esposito --- Yes, but only with .doc file I've encountered this type of freeze; and just with some of them. Never encountered this problem even with .docx of tens of MB in size. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[dolphin] [Bug 480596] Freeze when fetching metadata for large text document
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=480596 --- Comment #4 from Fabian Esposito --- I see, that should be perfect then. Since I'm very far to be an expert, I wanted in any case make a test, I hope I'm not mistaken. As for now, using the .doc that I sent for example, Dolphin gives as "Number of words: 46.361" and "Number of lines: 3.946". Opening the file in OnlyOffice, it reports as Dolphin 3.946 number of lines (Or better, paragraphs) but 44.827 number of words that I would presume is the correct number of words. So I've tried to obtain the number of words of the .doc file by piping the output of antiword to wc -w and it gave me instantaneously the right result of 44.827 number of words; so, as of now Dolphin also seems to read incorrectly those information for these kind of files. But maybe it's just a coincidence. Would also this problem be fixed with "That said "file""? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[Crow Translate] [Bug 491012] New: Crow Translate keeps forgetting the preferred languages set
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=491012 Bug ID: 491012 Summary: Crow Translate keeps forgetting the preferred languages set Classification: Applications Product: Crow Translate Version: unspecified Platform: Fedora RPMs OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: genalo...@gmail.com Reporter: fabian.espos...@outlook.com CC: javirr...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY When I firstly installed it, the application wouldn't remember any of the preferred languages set in the main window after a reboot. To also resolve the problem of qdbus missing (And thus the global shortcuts were also not working on Wayland) I installed the package qt-1:4.8.7-76.fc40. After that, now the application remembers only the first two of the various preferred languages that I set, both for the source and for the translation, when I reboot. All the other languages get discarded. Tried also to uninstall and reinstall the application to no avail. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open application main window 2. Select more than two preferred language for source and translation 3. Reboot the machine OBSERVED RESULT At the start no set languages would be remembered, now only the first two that I set. EXPECTED RESULT All the preferred languages that I set should be always remembered, as it used to, trough the various boot. # SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Software version: 2.11.1 RPM installed trough Carlis COPR Operating System: Fedora Linux 40 KDE Plasma Version: 6.1.3 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.4.0 Qt Version: 6.7.2 -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[dolphin] [Bug 501564] New: Regression with timezones not using acronyms anymore
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=501564 Bug ID: 501564 Summary: Regression with timezones not using acronyms anymore Classification: Applications Product: dolphin Version: 24.12.3 Platform: Fedora RPMs OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: minor Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: fabian.espos...@outlook.com CC: kfm-de...@kde.org Target Milestone: --- Created attachment 179447 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=179447&action=edit Comparison of proprieties window of two different version of Dolphin # SUMMARY In various parts of Dolphin (Properties window, overwriting window, etc.), timezones are no longer displayed as acronyms. As an Italian user, I now see the three dates (Creation, Modification, and Access) followed by "Ora standard dell’Europa centrale" instead of the more concise "CET". This also causes issues with window width. The problem shows in various languages. I have attached an image showing the current display (Dolphin – Version 24.12.3) on the left, and how it used to appear (Dolphin – Version 23.08.5) on the right. Related discussion: https://discuss.kde.org/t/dolphin-bring-cet-back/31533 # STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open Dolphin. 2. Right-click on a file. 3. Specifically, its height increases by a few pixels, causing the toolbar to shift downward by a couple of pixels. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Add the address bar to the toolbar. 2. Click on the address bar to manually modify the path (or click the pen button on the right side). OBSERVED RESULT The entire toolbar shifts downward by a couple of pixels. EXPECTED RESULT The toolbar should remain fixed in place without shifting and the address bar itself shouldn't resize. [dolphin] [Bug 501442] New: Dolphin forgets Download folder settings
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=501442 Bug ID: 501442 Summary: Dolphin forgets Download folder settings Classification: Applications Product: dolphin Version: 24.12.3 Platform: Fedora RPMs OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: minor Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: fabian.espos...@outlook.com CC: kfm-de...@kde.org Target Milestone: --- Created attachment 179367 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=179367&action=edit Recording showing SUMMARY I have enabled both the option to remember the last session and the option to remember the “view style” for each folder. Normally, new folders are displayed ordered by name (A-Z, with folders first). However, for some reason, when I set this ordering option for the Downloads folder, after closing and reopening Dolphin, these settings are forgotten, and the items in the Downloads folder are shown grouped and ordered by modification date. This behaviour occurs only in the Downloads folder. There is no .directory file inside. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Enable options "remember the last session" and "remember the “view style” for each folder". 2. Use icon view 3. In Download folder, order file by name (A-Z, with folders first). 4. Close and open again Dolphin OBSERVED RESULT The files in Download folder are again ordered by modification date and grouped (As per default of Download folder when enabling remember the “view style” for each folder) EXPECTED RESULT The files should be still ordered by name and not grouped.
