[plasmashell] [Bug 464635] Floating panel sometimes doesn't switch to non floating mode when a window is maximized like it used to
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=464635 Dashon changed: What|Removed |Added CC||sparky123558w...@gmail.com --- Comment #5 from Dashon --- Currently it doesn't switch to non floating mode at all for me, but I prefer it this way honestly. Didn't like the old behavior of getting really big to assume the space between the edge of the screen. Disliked it so much, I stopped using floating panels altogether. I thought this was intended behavior for auto-hidden panels though when I discovered it after updating to 5.27. Just came here to check. I have rebooted several times, but I haven't deleted any configs. When I move the mouse cursor to the top of the screen to show the hidden panel. It just goes over the top of the app. Sort of like combining the auto-hide feature with the windows go below option. I think it looks and feels better in my case though. Previously I was able to unbind space from select files and folders in the keyboard shortcuts. I changed it to Control + ' when it was mentioned that we could do that in this bug report https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=458282. Now changing the shortcut does work, but it seems that as of 22.12.2. Spacebar once again enters selection mode regardless of what is set in the keyboard shortcuts? It's like all I have done is added an additional keybinding to it. Is this happening for anyone else? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[plasmashell] [Bug 466246] New: Memory Leak in Plasmashell When Removing Notifications One by One
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=466246 Bug ID: 466246 Summary: Memory Leak in Plasmashell When Removing Notifications One by One Classification: Plasma Product: plasmashell Version: 5.27.1 Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: Notifications Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org Reporter: sparky123558w...@gmail.com CC: k...@privat.broulik.de Target Milestone: 1.0 SUMMARY Sometimes seeming at random when I am removing notifications plasmashell will freeze and then the memory usage will skyrocket. STEPS TO REPRODUCE In order to reproduce it I have been using kde connect and just refreshing the connection from the system settings page a bunch of times in order to get a long list of notifications. I will attach a video. 1. Create a long list of notifications in the notification history tray somehow. 2. Start removing each notification one by one by clicking on the remove button that is next to each entry in the notification tray OBSERVED RESULT Eventually plasmashell freezes and memory starts skyrocketing and I have to kill plasmashell. EXPECTED RESULT Plasmashell shouldn't freeze and memory should be released. [kate] [Bug 482274] New: Kate Segfaults when opening some files.
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=482274 Bug ID: 482274 Summary: Kate Segfaults when opening some files. Classification: Applications Product: kate Version: 24.02.0 Platform: Arch Linux OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: crash Priority: NOR Component: application Assignee: kwrite-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: dashonww...@pm.me Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY Hey, just updated endeavourOS / arch using the testing repos, so hopefully this isn't a packaging issue, but I have generated a backtrace for a couple different files in which this has happened. I see what looks like it is pointing to an issue with some plugin. STEPS TO REPRODUCE Kate has so many plugins and the number of combinations of plugins probably make this hard to recreate with just reproduction steps, but anyways. 1. Open a file with kate from dolphin: in my case I am using fish shell scripts. Some bash scripts have also had the issue, I can't really see a pattern here. OBSERVED RESULT File will either never open or open briefly before closing the window. EXPECTED RESULT Kate window should open and stay open without crashing. [plasmashell] [Bug 482371] New: Dragging Widget from Desktop to Panel Causes Widget to get Stuck on the Desktop
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=482371 Bug ID: 482371 Summary: Dragging Widget from Desktop to Panel Causes Widget to get Stuck on the Desktop Classification: Plasma Product: plasmashell Version: 6.0.0 Platform: Arch Linux OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org Reporter: dashonww...@pm.me CC: k...@davidedmundson.co.uk Target Milestone: 1.0 SUMMARY Hey testing out plasma 6 in arch's testing repos and I noticed that if I drag a widget from the desktop to the top panel then that widget gets stuck on the desktop. I am no longer able to interact with it. If I drag it to the bottom panel it gets added correctly. However dragging off of the bottom panel and back to the desktop causes it to outright disappear. Restarting plasmashell fixes all the issues except for when the widget completely disappears. When that happens I just have to edit the config file and remove the widget from there. I've tested this with the network speed widget. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Enter edit mode and click add widget. 2. Drag a widget to the desktop. 3. Now drag that widget to some panel. OBSERVED RESULT It either disappears or gets stuck. EXPECTED RESULT It should move to wherever I moved it to and appear there. This makes the experience kinda weird to say the least. It gets it right in one place, but not the other. The application launcher seems to behave correctly though. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open system settings and go down to search then select plasma search. 2. Sort some of the plugins. 3. Open krunner and make sure that the results are in the order you prefer. 4. Now enable the overview in desktop effects and search for something in there. OBSERVED RESULT Results are not in the order you set up earlier. If you add the gpu usage and memory columns in the processes page of system monitor. They seem to be blank. I am on a nvidia gpu if that is effecting things. Seems similar to this bug https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=466502. However, in that one the user is reporting how it is showing the wrong thing instead of nothing and I am using text only instead of the charts that that user mentioned. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open system monitor. 2. Navigate to the processes page. 3. Edit columns 4. Add the gpu usage and memory columns OBSERVED RESULT These fields are blank at least they are on my nvidia rtx 3080 EXPECTED RESULT They should report similar numbers to the nvtop program. [kwin] [Bug 482380] New: Can't Move a Qt6 App that Draws its own Window Decoration
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=482380 Bug ID: 482380 Summary: Can't Move a Qt6 App that Draws its own Window Decoration Classification: Plasma Product: kwin Version: 6.0.0 Platform: Arch Linux OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: dashonww...@pm.me Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY Testing plasma 6 using arch's testing repositories. I'm not sure if this bug belongs here or with qmmp, but I know it worked fine on plasma 5.27 on x11, but I can no longer drag this window around on plasma 6 on wayland. Qmmp is a music player and a themeable Qt6 app. I installed it from the arch repos. I forget if it is by default, but I believe it is. It uses a skinned theme where it draws its on decorations, but I can't actually move the app with this decoration. If I change the theme to the qt6 one they offer that looks all boxy like a generic qt app, then the kde decorations are shown and I can move the window. I just don't like that I can't use the theme for this app anymore that way. Using the super key plus mouse works though. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Install qmmp or maybe some other qt6 app that draws its own decorations. 2. Try to move the window via its window decoration. OBSERVED RESULT It doesn't move EXPECTED RESULT It should move SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: EndeavourOS KDE Plasma Version: 6.0.0 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.0.0 Qt Version: 6.6.2 Kernel Version: 6.7.6-zen1-2-zen (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland Processors: 16 × AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 8-Core Processor Memory: 62.7 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080/PCIe/SSE2 Manufacturer: Micro-Star International Co., Ltd.
