Currently it doesn't switch to non floating mode at all for me, but I prefer it
this way honestly. Didn't like the old behavior of getting really big to assume
the space between the edge of the screen. Disliked it so much, I stopped using
floating panels altogether. I thought this was intended behavior for
auto-hidden panels though when I discovered it after updating to 5.27. Just
came here to check. I have rebooted several times, but I haven't deleted any
configs. When I move the mouse cursor to the top of the screen to show the
hidden panel. It just goes over the top of the app. Sort of like combining the
auto-hide feature with the windows go below option. I think it looks and feels
better in my case though.
