[kate] [Bug 466216] New: Double line breaks when opening a remote CRLF file

2023-02-21 Thread Andrius
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=466216

Bug ID: 466216
Summary: Double line breaks when opening a remote CRLF file
Classification: Applications
   Product: kate
   Version: 22.12.2
  Platform: Compiled Sources
OS: Microsoft Windows
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: part
  Assignee: kwrite-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: andrius...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
***
NOTE: If you are reporting a crash, please try to attach a backtrace with debug
symbols.
See
https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports
***

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open a remote folder (SFTP) in dolphin
2. Drag a file (in my case a python file) that has CR/LF (Windows Line breaks)
into Kate

OBSERVED RESULT
Files display double line breaks (i.e.: empty lines after each line of the
file)

EXPECTED RESULT
Text should display normally without empty lines through it.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows 11 (22H2)
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.103.0

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Kate and Dolphin built from sources with Craft.
Seems to happen only with remote files, not with local files.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Have a Windows shortcut ".lnk" to any folder
2. Open it inside dolphin

OBSERVED RESULT
Although Dolphin recognises it as a folder destination (when hovering the
shortcut), it fails to open its path, giving an "Invalid protocol" error,
possibly it interprets the path as a url (mistaking the drive letter as a
protocol scheme) instead of a local path.

EXPECTED RESULT
Dolphin should open the destination directory.

It is just a regular shortcut file. To reproduce it, you can create a folder on

[digikam] [Bug 431320] New: Live photos support via group and autoplay HEIC/MOV JPG/MOV HEIC/MP4 JPG/MP4 pairs

2021-01-08 Thread Andrius

Hello,

Since most modern phones offer "live" photos now I would like to propose adding
a support for those one day. The live photos are basically a pair of a still
image and a short video attached to it.
Here is a sample from an iPhone:
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1e1ua6jlwywY9s5Ct1AvfuyoiPtfyXwoA?usp=sharing

I wish digiKam will be able to group them one day.
I think the still image should be on top of the stack in thumbnails view but if
user hovers the mouse over it digiKam should play that video (without sound by
default).
In Preview mode I think the video should be played right away followed by the
still image and then freeze (do not repeat the video). Repeat and mute/unmute
overlay buttons in top left would be beneficial as well.

Just an idea for future GSoC contributors.

If I right click on the album in the folder tree and export to Google Photos I
see that all the images are on the list.
OpenGL Image Viewer displays all the images as well.

So I think there is a possible bug with how the images displayed in album view.
I tried Table view and I also tried playing with all Sort settings in View menu
but it has not changed anything.

Maik, I am not sure how to do that. I only see 2 images of 28. I tried to

I use SQLite.
The only grouping I use is 'group by filename' on DNG/JPG pairs.
These particular images are JPG only though.

I don't know if is relevant but I got these images from a photographer and I
noticed the photographer used Adobe Lightroom to create them.

Is there any way their code could be used in digiKam ?

Maik,
digikam 6.3.0-git Build date: Aug 6 2019
It worked.

I think I know what happened. I think I grouped "web" and "full_resolution"
versions of each image and then moved some of the images from the pairs to
another folder outside of digiKam. I was not able to reproduce it though. So it
is probably the user error as usual :-)

Actually I did reproduce it. To reproduce try to:
1. group IMAGE-1 and IMAGE-2
2. then in Windows File Explorer move the image from the top of the stack e.g.
IMAGE-1 to another folder
3. Refresh the album in digiKam
4. Move IMAGE-1 back to the original folder
5. Refresh the album in digiKam again

Oh, I see. The "Import" button which is on the tool bar by default is greyed
out if there is no external storage present and that confused me. I did not
realize that "Import" menu is still active.

Also, maybe renaming "add files" and "add folders" to "import files" and
"import folder(s)" should be considered?

Just an idea.

When I click on the drop down button there is still a collapsed list of

I would not want to see People, BalooTags, etc.

Well, the 7.0.0 does not stay in face tagging mode either but it is kind of
irrelevant since you can face tag holding 'Ctrl' button. I just did not know

Hello,

I have noticed that if you don't select "skip images already scanned" when
scanning for faces digiKam might create duplicate entries on a single image.
Here is a screenshot of an example:
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1UqT26vs-mQEDVPwUOAoJtcB39BiHdpYc
I was wondering if there could be added a functionality to get rid of these,
for example: IF an image has two face tags assigned with the same name THEN do
something about it. I would suggest two actions: 1. Just filter all the images
with the duplicate face tags 2. Delete one of the duplicate tags automatically.
Just an idea.

When you open the screenshot for 150% scaling (which is default by the way) you

Although if most users want that scaling please leave it as is. It is no big
deal for me to switch scaling back and forth. It takes seconds and does not
require re-login or reboot.

I did restart digiKam after changing the variables for sure.
My windows sets scaling to 150% by default. It also says "150% (Recommended)"
Maybe that is because of the resolution which is 1920x1080. The screen size is
13.3".

At scaling 100% everything definitely looks too small for me. Maybe I just got
used to 150. To be honestly I have never looked at the scaling option until I
got this problem with digiKam. I actually set scaling to 125% now and I kind of
like how both windows GUI and digiKam look like at this scaling.

I switched back to beta2 and looks like it is working fine.
I have 3,639 HEIC files in the folder which caused that problem.

I also noticed that "open in file manager" wasn't working for the affected
files either. It seems like digiKam simply wasn't able see them.

I guess I can just make Thumbbar as small as possible and then use Ctrl + T to
show/hide when needed.
Sometimes I wish some of the thumbbar's functionality was available in Preview
mode when the bar is hidden. See and set star ratings, see grouped images, see
pick and color labels, etc.

"Show labels" for color and pick labels and "Show rating" for the star rating.

Open an album in Left panel - select some pictures - drag and drop them to
another album in the left panel

everything works

but the fist icon seems to be fairly large and round so it is hard to be sure
you dropped the images in the right album

Suggestions:

Display the name of the destination folder in the header of the popup window
(Move here, Copy here, set as thumb..)
or
Instead of 'Move(Copy) Here' display ' Move/Copy to "destination folder" '
or
There is no need to show the full path e.g. '/pictures/2017/folder1' just the
folder name e.g. 'folder1' would be sufficient enough.
Change the fist icon to an arrow or something like that (not sure if this is
set by the system properties though)

Current behavior:
Open an image in digikam e.g. image #124 in the album - press F2 - type new
name - press Enter - digikam switches to the next image e.g. #125 (like after
deleting) however if you press Left arrow key that opens the very first image
in the album (#1) ; pressing Left opens the 2nd image in the album (#2). That
is a lot of pressing "-->" to get back to #124.

Expected behavior:
Open an image e.g. #124- press F2 - type in new name - press Enter
digikam stays on the same image (#124); press Right arrow key goes to #125;
pressing Left (from #124) opens #123

I usually sort images by date so I don't expect the order to change after
renaming a file. But you are correct, some people might want the order to

[digikam] [Bug 361829] Rotated MP4 video with "Orientation" flag are not played back in the correct rotation angle

2018-01-08 Thread Andrius
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=361829

Confirmed on 5.8.0 pre-release bundle on openSUSE TW KDE.
QtAV still ignores the rotation flag.

Here an extract from ffmpeg output for a sample file:
"
Metadata:
  rotate : 90
  creation_time : 2017-11-26T00:45:53.00Z
  handler_name: VideoHandle
Side data:
  displaymatrix: rotation of -90.00 degrees"
I think usually videoplayers use that displaymatrix value to display a video
correctly. Basically it tells you to rotate the image 90 degrees back (-90)

I tried to find some info on how to call ffmpeg within c++ on found these:
(not sure if they are helpful though)

I wish there was a way to save the set orientation for video and its thumbnail
though...

I was importing 800 photos and 100 videos from a thumbdrive using Rapid Photo
Downloader. digiKam was opened in the background. I was not in front of the
computer. When I came back I found out that digiKam isn't responding.
I hoped the bugtraces will give you a clear idea on what went wrong.

I don't think I can reproduce the bug. digiKam crashes very rare nowadays.

It feels like digiKam always regenerates thumbnails for video files so I don't
think there is a point in rotating them

[digikam] [Bug 389619] New: digikam does not read from sidecars for video/mp4

2018-01-29 Thread Andrius
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=389619

Bug ID: 389619
Summary: digikam does not read from sidecars for video/mp4
   Product: digikam
   Version: 5.8.0
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Metadata-Sidecar
  Assignee: digikam-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: aegor...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

This is continuation of this thread:
http://digikam.1695700.n4.nabble.com/Re-read-metadata-from-a-sidecar-for-mp4-td4704976.html

I have recorded two videos.

In the first video I am adding tags, rating, gps coordinates to a video in my
collection. As you can see everything works just fine. digikam adds the
information to the database as well as to the xmp sidecar. Rating, tags and GPS
icon are seen in thumbnails view.
https://youtu.be/Nef3VvWqozc

In the second video I removed digikamrc as well as the database files and added
a video file with an existing xmp sidecar to a new database. Neither
tags/rating nor gps logo can be seen in thumbnails view. Trying to 'Reread
metadata from Image' only shows an error. If I try to add geolocation once
again the error 'Failed to open file' pops up.
https://youtu.be/67pcOJj_3RM

So basically there is no way to import an information from an existing sidecar
back to the database. Even though the box 'Read from sidecars' checked in
Settings - Metadata - Sidecars. I thought once the box is checked digiKam
should read from sidecars automatically.

2018-01-29 Thread Andrius

Bug ID: 389620

  Assignee: digikam-bugs-n...@kde.org

  Target Milestone: ---

To reproduce the issue you can click on any image with geolocation then open
right panel - map.

Expected behavior: seeing the selected image on the map

Actual behavior: digiKam still shows a part of the map from a previous session

However it works fine once you switch to Previous/Next image.

Confirmed on digikam-5.9.0-20180130T024447-x86-64
I also tried switching between Marble and Google Maps but behavior is the same.
digikam does not refresh the map until you switch to the next image.

supported yet.

Please advise.

Please consider adding the Thumbnails view for Trash.
By default it looks more like a Table view.

There is also a small bug there.
Open Trash - switch to "Table" view - folder looks empty (which is not true)
Switch to "Thumbnails" view - folder still looks empty
Open another album and then open Trash again - items in Trash shown as
expected.

I just added geolocation to about 500 images and the application did not
crash...

The only thing I have noticed is that digiKam regenerated thumbnails after I
added GPS coordinates to the images. I am not sure why.
