That's great. Some apps have loading screens, like GIMP. So I sometimes look at
a part of the panel that expands, then the loaded app retracts.

[kde] [Bug 502096] New: Having a picture copied in your clipboard, results in klipper not adjusting clipboard after selecting one from its history.

2025-03-27 Thread Fotios Valasiadis
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=502096

Bug ID: 502096
   Summary: Having a picture copied in your clipboard, results in
klipper not adjusting clipboard after selecting one
from its history.
Classification: I don't know
   Product: kde
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: unassigned-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: fvalas...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
If you have an existing clipboard history, and then copy a picture, opening
klipper(super + v) and selecting one of the previous copies won't overwrite the
clipboard with the copy.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Copy some random text to create a history
2. Copy a picture
3. Open klipper and select the random text in order to copy it in your
clipboard once more.

OBSERVED RESULT
The random text isn't in the clipboard, the image is kept in the clipboard as
is.

EXPECTED RESULT
Klipper should overwrite the image with the text selected.

[ghostwriter] [Bug 501823] New: "Find" function yields no results as it only looks after the cursor

2025-03-27 Thread Riccardo Robecchi
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=501823

Bug ID: 501823
   Summary: "Find" function yields no results as it only looks
after the cursor
Classification: Applications
   Product: ghostwriter
   Version: 24.12.3
  Platform: Neon
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: megan.con...@kdemail.net
  Reporter: sephiroth...@hotmail.it
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
using the "find" function yields no results if the matching words are before
the cursor. This is contrary to expectations as the find function should look
throughout the whole document, irrespective of where the cursor is: if I am
looking for something while writing, there is actually a significant chance
that it is going to be *before* the cursor, rather than after it.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Write anything.
2. Without moving the cursor (i.e. having it at the end), use the "find"
function to look for a word you have previously written.

OBSERVED RESULT
No results are found.

EXPECTED RESULT
Results are found.

2025-03-27 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=407667

--- Comment #19 from pocci...@gmail.com ---
Indeed this may be a shortcoming of the notification protocol (which is not
specific to KDE). For example, it seems that the notification data submitted
by Web browser apps don't come with a URL or the like (such as a URL to the Web
page that the notification relates to).

[kdenlive] [Bug 502092] New: Drop-down menu for the "Thumbnails: Enable for Video" preference option.

2025-03-27 Thread Gabriel Gazzán
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=502092

Bug ID: 502092
   Summary: Drop-down menu for the "Thumbnails: Enable for Video"
preference option.
Classification: Applications
   Product: kdenlive
   Version: git-master
  Platform: Other
OS: Other
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: User Interface & Miscellaneous
  Assignee: j...@kdenlive.org
  Reporter: gabcor...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Expand the "Thumbnails: Enable for Video" options in preferences, to be a
drop-down menu, so to allow the selection of one of the available modes (In
Frame, In/Out Frames, All Frames, None).
Perhaps the same could be done for audio thumbnails too (personally, I wouldn't
be using it, but perhaps someone else would)

I usually like to work seeing just the In Frame thumbnails of timeline clips,
so currently there's not a practical way to setup this behavior for new
projects, and if I really want to do it I have to go track by track changing
that.

Thanks for listening!

I am also having this issue.

Fedora Linux 41 (KDE Spin)
Plasma 6.3.3
KDE Frameworks 6.12.0
Qt 6.8.2
Kernel 6.13.7-200fc41.x86_64 (64 bit)
Wayland
Nvidia RTX A1000 with driver 570.124.04 (although it started happening months
ago on older drivers)

It only happens with my external monitor connected, after the display has
turned off (note - I don't believe it is true sleep as that is disabled). My
external monitor is 3440x1440, 144 Hz, with adaptive sync, color profiles, and
HDR disabled. Color accuracy is set to "Prefer efficiency" and the monitor is
connected to the Nvidia GPU via USB-C --> Lenovo Dock --> Display Port on
monitor.

As mentioned above, logging out and back in, unplugging the cable and
re-plugging, or kwin_wayland --replace all drop the memory back down to base
consumption. Also as mentioned above, moving the mouse does seem to spike CPU
usage.

Thank you for the bug report!

However Plasma 6.1.5 is no longer eligible for support or maintenance from KDE;
supported versions are 5.27. (LTS), and 6.3 (non-LTS) or newer. Please upgrade
to a supported version as soon as your distribution makes it available to you.
Plasma is a fast-moving project, and bugs in one version are often fixed in the
next one.

If you need support for Plasma 6.1.5, please contact your distribution, who
bears the responsibility of providing support for older releases that are no
longer supported by KDE.

If you can reproduce the issue after upgrading to a supported version, feel
free to re-open this bug report.

[konsole] [Bug 502077] New: File parsing does not correctly opens files from rustc output

2025-03-27 Thread Hugues Morisset
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=502077

Bug ID: 502077
   Summary: File parsing does not correctly opens files from rustc
output
Classification: Applications
   Product: konsole
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: All
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: NOR

SUMMARY

On opening file that fails to compile with rustc using the mouse, konsole tries
to opens a non existing file when :LINE:COLUMN is specified.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. touch /tmp/aa
2. echo /tmp/aa:10:2
3. Press Alt + click on the output

OBSERVED RESULT

> The file or folder /tmp/aa:10 does not exist.

EXPECTED RESULT

File opening at the right line and column

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

[The
code](https://github.com/KDE/konsole/blob/master/src/filterHotSpots/FileFilterHotspot.cpp#L80)
expect the line to end with ':' (3 ':' in total)

rustc output looks like this:

```
maybe the regexp could be modified to accept both a ':' and '\n' ?
-- Information about the crash:
- I opened the system monitor to observe the system load in the processes tab.
- Side comment, wanted to observe the process which does the file indexing for
search.
- I decided to seek for more information and opened the option "Spalten
einrichten" which is "Setting up columns" and changed one item.
- I believe it was "User-CPU-load" from "hidden" to "Text only" and confirmed
my choice. Directly after that the systemmonitor crashed.
- I tried to reproduce the case unfortunately w/o success. Hopefully this
report is of help anyhow.
Kind regards and thanks to the entire team for your great efforts,
Olaf M.
The reporter is unsure if this crash is reproducible.
--- Comment #6 from Damglador  ---
Why can the taskbar detect the window icon even without the desktop file
matching the WMClass of the app, but KWin can't? This issue is not exclusive to
Electron applications, it happens with any other application using Wayland
natively. From my testing, if StartupWMClass in desktop file matches the
WMClass of the app, taskbar gets the icon, but Alt+Tab menu still shows the
Wayland icon.
Is it possible to do in KWin the same what the taskbar does? It's not always
possible to match .desktop file name with WMClass. With system packages,
packager may be able to add a dummy .desktop for icon or rename the upstream
one (if you'll be able to convince them to do so), but with flatpak you
wouldn't be able to do so, packager would need to patch the program to have
WMClass matching the .desktop file name, or user would need to add their own
dummy .desktop file just to make KWin show the proper icon. For example,
Zen[1], and I have the same issue with youtube-music, WineWayland apps have to
have .desktop files with .exe in their name, when they could just have it in
StartupWMClass.
Additionally, according to this comment[2], GNOME is able to show the proper
icon just by having proper WMClass in StartupWMClass, without having to also
match the .desktop file name.
Communicating all that to each package maintainer and software developer is
problematic, and considering that GNOME and the taskbar already can fetch the
proper icon, it would be nice if KWin also could.
[systemsettings] [Bug 502087] New: Turning HDR on on 165hz 2k monitor makes system unresponsive and lower makes the monitor unsersponsive
2025-03-27 Thread thankarezos
Bug ID: 502087
   Summary: Turning HDR on on 165hz 2k monitor makes system
unresponsive and lower makes the monitor unsersponsive
Classification: Applications
   Product: systemsettings
   Version: 6.3.3
  Platform: Arch Linux
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: thankare...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---
SUMMARY
When I try to enable HDR on odyssey g5 32 inch 2k monitor connected by display
port if the refresh rate is set to 165hz, the desktop freezes fully and there
is no way to recover other than turn it off forcefully. When I log in again
every screen is black, and I need to forcefully shut down again go to the tty
and delete the .config/kwinoutputconfig.json only then I can log in again
without everything freezing, or I need to unplug the monitor but if I plug it
again and the HDR was on it will freeze again. I use a lot of monitors, but it
still happens with the two monitors. If I reduce the refresh rate to 144hz or
lower I still can't enable HDR but the pc doesn't freeze but the HDR monitor
stays black (other monitors work in this case and I don't need to forcefully
shut down and remove the file to remove HDR). HDR works fine on Windows on same
machine on same refresh rate. I am using a 5070 with 570.133.07 open drivers.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Set refresh rate to 165hz (or lower for similar problem)
2. enable HDR
OBSERVED RESULT
Everything freezes (all the monitors) or the HDR enabled monitor is not working
EXPECTED RESULT
Not freeze or the HDR monitor to turn on
[Discover] [Bug 497966] After installing only flatpak updates, upon the next notification interval, Discover no longer shows tray icon
2025-03-27 Thread Wyatt Childers
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=497966
--- Comment #31 from Wyatt Childers  ---
Okay, I've now observed this again, and I think (what I've updated the title
to) is the problem.
On day 1, you:
- Have updates for flatpaks and RPMS
- Have a tray icon telling you there are updates available
- Install updates for flatpaks ONLY (tray icon does immediately go away as the
updates for the RPMs are still available)
Roughly 24-hours later / the next notification time:
- Have updates for RPMS
- No longer have a tray icon telling you there are updates available
- May or may not have new flatpak updates
Effectively, you install flatpaks and then lose your reminder about any future
updates (to flatpaks or otherwise).
Hi - yes, Ghostwriter is now on version 24.12.3, and version 23.08.5 is no
longer supported by KDE. Typically, keeping older versions running like that
requires some work on packaging and patching by the downstream distribution -
Ubuntu/Kubuntu in this case - so there may be some missing dependencies or
files in how they are distributing Ghostwriter for the 24.10 release.
logs regarding system freeze in legacy x11 apps in KDE Wayland session.
Observed Result:
- On a KDE Wayland session, opening an X11-based legacy application (e.g.,
GParted) and holding a key (such as Backspace) inside any text box that app for
a few seconds leads to a complete system freeze.
- In this resulted condition, session restart from TTY1 doesn't help as
everything start from fresh login state same like which we get after reboot so
every app progress, opened apps all gets lost.
Expected Result:
- System should not freeze or stutter if there is repeat key events are emitted
from Wayland session(Kwin compositor) to legacy app.
Additional Observation:
- System freeze issue does not occur in the KDE X11 session except system
slowdown for few seconds.
- Affects legacy X11 applications running on KDE Wayland session.
Steps to Reproduce:
- Start a KDE Wayland session.
- Open GParted.
- Click on any function that brings up a text box (e.g., select Unallocated
space → Click New).
- Inside any text box, press and hold Backspace for approximately 10 seconds or
so.
- Observe: The system completely freezes, requiring a restart.
Logs:
Mar 26 18:37:07 localhost.localdomain kwin_wayland_wrapper[5970]: Key repeat
discarded, Wayland compositor doesn't seem to be processing events fast enough!
This "kwin_wayland_wrapper" line repeated thousand of time.
Currently, by default, the "Show/hide description of the effects/composition"
I find myself continually shrinking it right after open it.
I suspect it would be much better if it took up less space of the widget, say
30%.
more than a minute of system being frozen) and sometimes I have to physically
restart.
While the system is frozen audio playback is uninterrupted and I can pause and
change the volume through media keys.
After seeing plasma system monitor and marknote in the logs I stopped keeping
these apps open all the time and it seems to have reduced the crash frequency.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
Can't reproduce.
Can confirm. It looks like it lists items in chronological order, but each
file/folder type causes a new group to start. Grouping by relative time
("Today", "Yesterday") would make more sense to me. Or, I'd be happier with no
grouping at all, assuming it's sorting in chronological order, newest at top.
It's similiar for the "Frequently Used" list too - perhaps "Most frequent",
"Occasionally" could be groups. Or likewise, grouping doesn't seem a necessity
for that list either.
kolourpaint glitches
SUMMARY
I'm getting various graphics glitches with 1.25x scaling (or any fractional
scaling factor inbetween 100-200%)
One symptom is in kolourpaint if i use the selection tool to select something
and then shrink back the rectangle(see screenshot) . If i open kolourpaint in
xwayland mode with "Legacy X11 applications = scaled by the system" the bug is
there. But with "apply scaling themselves" bug is gone.
This also happens with Pinta but curiously does not happen with Gimp or
Drawing.
The other one is with coloured text characters in konsole. Originally reported
here but with no resolution and i assume they're related:
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=491562 Similar x11 behavior as with
kolourpaint.
Possibly related: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=466373
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. set fractional scaling to 1.25
2. open kolourpaint
3. drag a selection with selection tool and shrink it
[Breeze] [Bug 436473] Cursor is stuck to resize icon when hovering into panels across the movable dividers
2025-03-27 Thread S. Christian Collins
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=436473
--- Comment #61 from S. Christian Collins  ---
This bug still happens for me too, though it is much rarer after disabling
extended resize handles in the Breeze theme settings. The last two times I got
the bug to happen, I had just clicked on an entry in the places panel on the
left and was quickly moving my mouse to the right over the divider. Seems to
perhaps be some timing issue or race condition where an entry in the places
panel is activating something at the instant the cursor turns into the resize
handle and it gets stuck that way.
I can never seem to repro the bug by trying, though... it's always when I'm
just working on something, and *bam* it happens.
I've got a couple of suggestions for the "Aspect Ratio" parameter in Clip
Properties:
- It'd be clearer if it was called "Pixel Aspect Ratio" instead.
So to not be confused by users with "Image Aspect Ratio" (16:9, 4:3, etc.)
- It'd also be useful to have a drop-down menu there, showing the most common
used ratios, and maintaining the option to enter a Custom PAR if desired.
Here's an example of what such a menu would contain:
name in menuratio   decimal
-
Square pixels   1:1 (1.0)
D1/DV NTSC 4:3  10:11   (0.9091)
[kdenlive] [Bug 502094] New: Image sequences workflow shortcomings.
2025-03-27 Thread Gabriel Gazzán
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=502094
Bug ID: 502094
   Summary: Image sequences workflow shortcomings.
Classification: Applications
   Product: kdenlive
   Version: git-master
  Platform: Other
OS: Other
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Project Bin & Import
  Assignee: j...@kdenlive.org
  Reporter: gabcor...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---
Currently, the work with image sequences in Kdenlive faces several
shortcomings:
- It's cumbersome to refresh already loaded image sequences to take into
account changes in the duration of the sequence.
(currently, you have to double click the clip in the Project Bin to reopen the
"Add Image Sequence" dialog, forcing a refresh*).
* perhaps a line about that could be included in the manual, to guide users on
that matter.
- You can't use the "Replace Clip" option to effectively replace an image
sequence in the Project bin.
(perhaps if the "Add Image Sequence" dialog still showed all of the initial
settings present when creating the sequence in first place, this could be a way
for users to be able to replace it with another sequence).
...I'd still prefer to just be able to replace a sequence, like with any other
video clip, though.
* I've already filed a bug (#488648) about replacing image sequences some
months ago, so that one could now be closed, as it's included in this one.
- There's no way to access the sequence's image Properties panel, to control
and change things like pixel aspect ratio, field order, frame rate, color
space, color range, etc. as you would with any other video file or image.
That's a blow, especially for people working with non-square pixel aspect ratio
images or interlaced images.
In short, anything that could be done to improve the handling of image
sequences inside Kdenlive would be important, to be able to give a better user
experience when editing things like 3D animations or other post production
assets, that usually come in that format .
I know all of those inconveniences most probably originate in the way Kdenlive
treats sequences as image presentations, so I guess there's so much that can be
done to solve them, without actually reworking image sequences handling inside
the program altogether.
Thanks for listening!
SUMMARY
My default screen in both X11 and Wayland is at 100%, this scale leaves the
screen too small, probably due to the HDPI, since this scale is the sharpest,
but when you zoom in, both fractional and basic, icons, and in some cases the
text itself becomes blurry.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Change global scale
2. Increase to more than 100%
3. Choose a larger one while maintaining sharpness
OBSERVED RESULT
Icons and some fonts at some scales become very blurry
EXPECTED RESULT
Being able to scale to a larger than 100% scale is not so far away and still
have sharp icons and fonts.
SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: Manjaro Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 6.3.3
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.12.0
Qt Version: 6.8.2
Kernel Version: 6.12.19-1-MANJARO (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: Wayland
Processors: 4 × Intel® Core™ i3-1005G1 CPU @ 1.20GHz
Memory: 11.5 GiB of RAM
Graphics Processor: Intel® UHD Graphics
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Searching the arch wiki I found some HDPI variables on plasma that apply
scaling well to very sharp but the desktop has graphical bugs and empty spaces
on the screen that the windows do not fill.
[kmymoney] [Bug 501998] New: Warning is displayed when saving the KMyMoney file after entering a transaction for a new investment
2025-03-27 Thread Tony
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=501998
Bug ID: 501998
   Summary: Warning is displayed when saving the KMyMoney file
after entering a transaction for a new investment
Classification: Applications
   Product: kmymoney
   Version: git (master)
  Platform: Other
OS: Other
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: ux-ui
  Assignee: kmymoney-de...@kde.org
  Reporter: t...@kiwitones.xyz
  Target Milestone: ---
SUMMARY
I created an investment of type Stock and added a transaction with transaction
date before today (the day I created the investment). I entered a Buy
transaction of the stock, then I saved the KMyMoney data file. KMyMoney
displays the following message in a window. Note that it is not possible to
modify the creation date of the investment in the UI, so the warning cannot be
avoided.
* Problems with transactions
  * Transaction 'T021695' post date '24/03/2025' is older than
opening date '%4' of account '25/03/2025'.
Account opening date updated.
* Potential problem with securities/currencies
  * The security 'Rheinmetall' has no price set for the first use on
'24/03/2025'.
Price for the security has been extracted from transaction and added to
price history.
Finished: 2 problems corrected. 0 problems still present.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Create the stock investment called Rheinmetall (in this case)
2. Enter a buy transaction with transaction date before today.
3. Save the file.
OBSERVED RESULT
The aforementioned warning, which is also incorrectly formatted.
EXPECTED RESULT
No warning.
On an always fully patched Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, the AppImage 5.1.3218 worked fine.
However, the AppImage master 4196 failed the exact same way as on Fedora 41
> Krita git f6e0f4a
Stroke Selection is implemented. The contour layer effect is accomplished by
selecting the components to outline with a stroke. To implement an outer
outline, the user overlays a copy of the selection.
The implementation as a layer style would be to select opaque pixels within a
layer to outline with a stroke. A threshold of opacity could be configured. The
user then selects between "stroke shape," "stoke selection," or a hypothetical,
I argue redundant, "stoke layer." The option to select opaque pixels is
defined, but needs to be intersected onto a refined selection. The general
selection includes edge cases as boundaries to outline.
--- Comment #5 from John Kizer  ---
If you are using Dolphin 24.08.1 as mentioned in your bug report, then there is
some sort of version mismatch in your system packages occurring, since that
video shows that kio-admin version 23.08.5 is installed.
If all version mismatches are resolved and there is still an issue, then the
Kubuntu folks would need to provide support for that. Those are older software
versions still being provided by that distribution - KDE developers would need
bug reports to be reproducible on currently-released software versions (24.12.3
is the most current for Dolphin and kio-admin) in order to investigate.
Thanks for understanding!
Classification: Plasma
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
SUMMARY
While alt+tab task switcher/tabbox is fading away, the contents behind it are
slightly blurred and offset until it's fully gone, then the content snaps back
to normal. This only happens sometimes, oddly.
See attached videos: first is the bugged behavior with two windows in tabbox,
and the second is the correct behavior where the only thing I changed was
having 3 windows in tabbox instead of two.
[plasmashell] [Bug 502106] New: Notification body excludes text after '<'
2025-03-27 Thread snow flurry
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=502106
Bug ID: 502106
   Summary: Notification body excludes text after '<'
Classification: Plasma
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 6.2.5
  Platform: Gentoo Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Notifications
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: s...@datagirl.xyz
CC: k...@privat.broulik.de
  Target Milestone: 1.0
SUMMARY
Plasma notifications with a body including a '<', either unterminated or with a
space, will only present everything leading up to that '<' character.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Send a desktop notification using something like notify-send. As an example:
notify-send 'Test' 'i <3 computers'
OBSERVED RESULT
A push notification appears showing
notify-send
---
Test
i
Notably, the '<' and following characters are not displayed.
EXPECTED RESULT
The full notification appears. In the above case:
notify-send
---
Test
i <3 computers
SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: Gentoo Linux (Kernel 6.13.5-gentoo-dist)
KDE Plasma Version: 6.2.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.10.0
Qt Version: 6.8.2
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
In my testing, this happens with Discord and Firefox, whereas NeoChat is fine.
My guess is NeoChat (or KNotifications in general?) is handling the conversion
from '<' to "<", whereas other implementations aren't doing that.
Some other test cases:
'1 < 2 && 2 > 3' shows "1"
'this is visible but this isnt'
shows "this is visible but"
Hi - can you please specify:
* What your arrangement of displays and panels is - ex. Display 1 on the left
with a panel, containing a task manager and application launcher; Display 2 on
the right, empty by default (a screenshot across your desktops might be easiest
here?)
* Where you are clicking to launch an application?
* Where it's actually appearing?
* Whether the same issue is observed with Qt-based KDE applications, like
Dolphin, KWrite, etc.?
Hi - just to check, is this issue happening at the SDDM screen, where you're
sent immediately after logging out and where you'd choose which user to log in
as next?
I'm double-checking that it's related to that screen, and not the "lockscreen"
that's used when you haven't actually logged out of your user session, but
either enough time has passed or you've manually locked your device.
Thanks!
[kate] [Bug 502107] New: Kate crashes when trying to create new line on XML in macOS Sequoia
2025-03-27 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=502107
Bug ID: 502107
   Summary: Kate crashes when trying to create new line on XML in
macOS Sequoia
Classification: Applications
   Product: kate
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: macOS (DMG)
OS: macOS
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kwrite-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: lostentrepreneur...@yahoo.com
  Target Milestone: ---
SUMMARY
When trying to create a new line on an XML file on macOS Sequoia, Kate will
crash instead of creating the new line. When running Kate in the terminal, it
provides no data on what could've caused the crash, just `zsh: killed
/Applications/kate.app/Contents/MacOS/kate`. This doesn't seem to be present
with other file types, only XML.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open an XML file in Kate on a macOS Sequoia system
2. Try to create a new line in the file
3. Kate crashes
OBSERVED RESULT
When creating a new line in an XML, kate crashes.
EXPECTED RESULT
A new line to be created.
SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
macOS: macOS Sequoia 15.3.2
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This may be a system specific issue, as I am running on a Hackintosh with an
AMD CPU, however, I do believe this is a bug in general on Kate, as it'd be
quite weird for AMD to be causing some weird issue with Kate on macOS.
--- Comment #1 from John Kizer  ---
I'm afraid Ghostwriter 23.08.5 is unfortunately no longer eligible for support
or maintenance from KDE.
KDE projects typically move quickly, and bugs in one version are often fixed in
the next one. Please update to Ghostwriter 24.12.3 as soon as your distribution
offers it to you, or use other application distribution methods such as
Flathub. If you need support for Ghostwriter 23.08.5, please contact your
distribution, who bears the responsibility of providing support for older
software in their "long-term support" releases.
If this issue is still reproducible in Ghostwriter 24.12.3, feel free to
re-open this bug report.
Thanks for understanding!
presenting the attached xml files in a readable form is at least what I would
expect.
I'm looking forward to seeing 'invoices' with the decimal seperator moved one
point in the xml file compared to the visual representation in the pdf or
otherwise slight difference between the machine readable xml and the pdf
rendering
