[kwin] [Bug 466599] Window decoration and Alt+Tab menu for Wayland-native app shows generic Wayland icon; Task manager shows correct icon
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=466599 Damglador changed: What|Removed |Added Summary|Window decoration icon for |Window decoration and |Wayland-native electron app |Alt+Tab menu for |shows generic Wayland icon, |Wayland-native app shows |not actual app icon; Task |generic Wayland icon; Task |manager shows correct icon |manager shows correct icon CC||vse.stopchans...@gmail.com Status|RESOLVED|REOPENED Version|5.27.1 |6.3.3 Resolution|DOWNSTREAM |--- Ever confirmed|0 |1 --- Comment #6 from Damglador --- Why can the taskbar detect the window icon even without the desktop file matching the WMClass of the app, but KWin can't? This issue is not exclusive to Electron applications, it happens with any other application using Wayland natively. From my testing, if StartupWMClass in desktop file matches the WMClass of the app, taskbar gets the icon, but Alt+Tab menu still shows the Wayland icon. Is it possible to do in KWin the same what the taskbar does? It's not always possible to match .desktop file name with WMClass. With system packages, packager may be able to add a dummy .desktop for icon or rename the upstream one (if you'll be able to convince them to do so), but with flatpak you wouldn't be able to do so, packager would need to patch the program to have WMClass matching the .desktop file name, or user would need to add their own dummy .desktop file just to make KWin show the proper icon. For example, Zen[1], and I have the same issue with youtube-music, WineWayland apps have to have .desktop files with .exe in their name, when they could just have it in StartupWMClass. Additionally, according to this comment[2], GNOME is able to show the proper icon just by having proper WMClass in StartupWMClass, without having to also match the .desktop file name. Communicating all that to each package maintainer and software developer is problematic, and considering that GNOME and the taskbar already can fetch the proper icon, it would be nice if KWin also could. [systemsettings] [Bug 502087] New: Turning HDR on on 165hz 2k monitor makes system unresponsive and lower makes the monitor unsersponsive
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=502087 Bug ID: 502087 Summary: Turning HDR on on 165hz 2k monitor makes system unresponsive and lower makes the monitor unsersponsive Classification: Applications Product: systemsettings Version: 6.3.3 Platform: Arch Linux OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: crash Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org Reporter: thankare...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY When I try to enable HDR on odyssey g5 32 inch 2k monitor connected by display port if the refresh rate is set to 165hz, the desktop freezes fully and there is no way to recover other than turn it off forcefully. When I log in again every screen is black, and I need to forcefully shut down again go to the tty and delete the .config/kwinoutputconfig.json only then I can log in again without everything freezing, or I need to unplug the monitor but if I plug it again and the HDR was on it will freeze again. I use a lot of monitors, but it still happens with the two monitors. If I reduce the refresh rate to 144hz or lower I still can't enable HDR but the pc doesn't freeze but the HDR monitor stays black (other monitors work in this case and I don't need to forcefully shut down and remove the file to remove HDR). HDR works fine on Windows on same machine on same refresh rate. I am using a 5070 with 570.133.07 open drivers. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Set refresh rate to 165hz (or lower for similar problem) 2. enable HDR OBSERVED RESULT Everything freezes (all the monitors) or the HDR enabled monitor is not working EXPECTED RESULT Not freeze or the HDR monitor to turn on SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: EndeavourOS KDE Plasma Version: 6.3.3 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.12.0 Qt Version: 6.8.2 Kernel Version: 6.12.20-1-lts (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland Processors: 12 × 11th Gen Intel® Core™ i5-11400F @ 2.60GHz Memory: 31.2 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Observed Result: - On a KDE Wayland session, opening an X11-based legacy application (e.g., GParted) and holding a key (such as Backspace) inside any text box that app for a few seconds leads to a complete system freeze. - In this resulted condition, session restart from TTY1 doesn't help as everything start from fresh login state same like which we get after reboot so every app progress, opened apps all gets lost. Expected Result: - System should not freeze or stutter if there is repeat key events are emitted from Wayland session(Kwin compositor) to legacy app. Additional Observation: - System freeze issue does not occur in the KDE X11 session except system slowdown for few seconds. - Affects legacy X11 applications running on KDE Wayland session. Steps to Reproduce: - Start a KDE Wayland session. - Open GParted. - Click on any function that brings up a text box (e.g., select Unallocated space → Click New). - Inside any text box, press and hold Backspace for approximately 10 seconds or so. - Observe: The system completely freezes, requiring a restart. [Breeze] [Bug 436473] Cursor is stuck to resize icon when hovering into panels across the movable dividers
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=436473 --- Comment #61 from S. Christian Collins --- This bug still happens for me too, though it is much rarer after disabling extended resize handles in the Breeze theme settings. The last two times I got the bug to happen, I had just clicked on an entry in the places panel on the left and was quickly moving my mouse to the right over the divider. Seems to perhaps be some timing issue or race condition where an entry in the places panel is activating something at the instant the cursor turns into the resize handle and it gets stuck that way. I can never seem to repro the bug by trying, though... it's always when I'm just working on something, and *bam* it happens. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[kdenlive] [Bug 502094] New: Image sequences workflow shortcomings.
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=502094 Bug ID: 502094 Summary: Image sequences workflow shortcomings. Classification: Applications Product: kdenlive Version: git-master Platform: Other OS: Other Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: Project Bin & Import Assignee: j...@kdenlive.org Reporter: gabcor...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- Currently, the work with image sequences in Kdenlive faces several shortcomings: - It's cumbersome to refresh already loaded image sequences to take into account changes in the duration of the sequence. (currently, you have to double click the clip in the Project Bin to reopen the "Add Image Sequence" dialog, forcing a refresh*). * perhaps a line about that could be included in the manual, to guide users on that matter. - You can't use the "Replace Clip" option to effectively replace an image sequence in the Project bin. (perhaps if the "Add Image Sequence" dialog still showed all of the initial settings present when creating the sequence in first place, this could be a way for users to be able to replace it with another sequence). ...I'd still prefer to just be able to replace a sequence, like with any other video clip, though. * I've already filed a bug (#488648) about replacing image sequences some months ago, so that one could now be closed, as it's included in this one. - There's no way to access the sequence's image Properties panel, to control and change things like pixel aspect ratio, field order, frame rate, color space, color range, etc. as you would with any other video file or image. That's a blow, especially for people working with non-square pixel aspect ratio images or interlaced images. In short, anything that could be done to improve the handling of image sequences inside Kdenlive would be important, to be able to give a better user experience when editing things like 3D animations or other post production assets, that usually come in that format . I know all of those inconveniences most probably originate in the way Kdenlive treats sequences as image presentations, so I guess there's so much that can be done to solve them, without actually reworking image sequences handling inside the program altogether. [krita] [Bug 394652] contour layer style missing - not implemented
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=394652 Jaime C. changed: What|Removed |Added CC||skal...@icloud.com Resolution|--- |WORKSFORME Status|CONFIRMED |NEEDSINFO --- Comment #7 from Jaime C. --- (In reply to Alex from comment #0) > Contour layer style is missing, message is "not implemented". There is other > working "stroke" layer effect that may do same thing (not sure about it). > Maybe both can be combined? > > Krita git f6e0f4a Stroke Selection is implemented. The contour layer effect is accomplished by selecting the components to outline with a stroke. To implement an outer outline, the user overlays a copy of the selection. The implementation as a layer style would be to select opaque pixels within a layer to outline with a stroke. A threshold of opacity could be configured. The user then selects between "stroke shape," "stoke selection," or a hypothetical, I argue redundant, "stoke layer." The option to select opaque pixels is defined, but needs to be intersected onto a refined selection. The general selection includes edge cases as boundaries to outline. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

If all version mismatches are resolved and there is still an issue, then the Kubuntu folks would need to provide support for that. Those are older software versions still being provided by that distribution - KDE developers would need bug reports to be reproducible on currently-released software versions (24.12.3 is the most current for Dolphin and kio-admin) in order to investigate.
