[digikam] [Bug 499274] New: Problem with Thumbnails and metedata, tags
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=499274 Bug ID: 499274 Summary: Problem with Thumbnails and metedata, tags Classification: Applications Product: digikam Version: 8.5.0 Platform: Microsoft Windows OS: Microsoft Windows Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: Database-Schema Assignee: digikam-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: gingerle...@yahoo.com Target Milestone: --- SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Windows: 10 latest update Qt Version: Qt6 Win 64 About a month ago I decided to archive the 2024 photos that I had on a Kingston USB 3.2 External SSD onto a Sata internal HDD. I used Windows cut and paste to transfer the files. I then, a few days later, used digikam to remove the original album and add the album in a new the new location i.e. as part of the PC rather than on a removable drive. When I came to open DigiKam the photos I'd moved there were numerous problems with the album I'd moved. 1. Some photos would not open either in digiKam or any other app that I tried. I use DNG format files from Pentax cameras. 2. some photos had the thumbnails greyed out or partially greyed out but could be opened in the editor or other software. IF I use the Bulk Editor to convert these greyed out files to Tiff files then the thumbnails are Ok 3. some photos had the tags were missing or partially missing. I tried to recover some of the lost photos from the backup but they appear to be in the same condition. At first I thought this was due to the automatic back-up I have set up, but now I'm not so sure. Next I was able to recover quite a number of the more recent photos by using data recovery software on the SD cards I use in the camera. After doing all this and upgrading from 8.4 to 8.5 I still had problems, namely that when I opened digikam often the thumbnails did not show and as soon as I refresh digikam seems to take over the whole computer and I can use it for nothing until digikam has finished. I then assumed there were problems with the digiKam and/or Maria dB installation so I decided to clean out completely both digikam and Maria and start again. I was unable to get the system working using Maria internal sever so I used the the Internal option when setting up digiKam. Everything appeared to be OK when I set up all Albums but now when I open Digikam the thumbnails do not appear and when I try to refresh digikam just takes over the computer and takes forever. I can't use my PC while I wait. I originally thought that the files that wouldn't open were a result of disc errors but now I'm not so sure as the disc checker doesn't show any errors. [kwin] [Bug 343690] Missing windows tabbing
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=343690 --- Comment #56 from Roke Julian Lockhart Beedell <4wy78...@rokejulianlockhart.addy.io> --- (In reply to Gauthier from comment #55) Yeah, it's a bit of a quirk in how they're triaged here. I asked Nate about that some ago, and it basically equates to a rejected FR. Ultimately, whether something is an FR or bug is mostly based upon the underlying implementation. What matters is that the triage assignee considers this to be undesirable. I'd estimate that the sole route to changing this is by developing a patch/fork that implements this and proposing at Invent (with a promise of continued maintainership) or developing a script that provides this in lieu of it being present in the main codebase. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

It seems, the color blue is actually the accent color, while red is probably hard coded. If the accent color is by any chance red-ish, this leads to a confusion that every update available is a security update. [kate] [Bug 497478] Kate forgets names and paths of unsaved files on session restore.
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=497478 navid.zamani+...@gmail.com changed: What|Removed |Added CC||navid.zamani+...@gmail.com --- Comment #11 from navid.zamani+...@gmail.com --- I found the trigger: I can reliably reproduce it happening without a need to close Kate or reload a session. All you need, is to be in a session, open a document, and change it. it is *instantly* renamed to “Document #”, with # being the number of opened documents, starting at 0. And the on-disc location is set to „$HOME/.local/share/kate/stash/${session}.katesession/Document #”. So it is impossible to save the changes, and closing the file LOSES THE CHANGES. (Technically, they are saved to “Document #”, but opening any other file that happens to re-named to that, will of course overwrite it.) I literally cannot edit that file with Kate anymore. I had to use another editor! @Developers: Can you look in the logic that checks if the document has been changed (compared to the on-disk version)? In there, inside a conditional that checks if we are in a session, the bug should be found. (I can verify that it doesn’t happen if we’re not in a session. Even with the same exact file being opened and changed.) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[plasmashell] [Bug 499266] New: Taskbar disappears after idle/display outputs change
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=499266 Bug ID: 499266 Summary: Taskbar disappears after idle/display outputs change Classification: Plasma Product: plasmashell Version: 6.2.5 Platform: NixOS OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: Panel Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org Reporter: ja...@okonski.org CC: niccolo.venera...@gmail.com Target Milestone: 1.0 SUMMARY Plasma taskbar disappears after turning the display back on. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Use an HDMI display 2. Set the taskbar panel Visbility to auto hide (not sure if it's relevant) 3. Enable Turn off screen in Power Management, but disable Suspending 4. Go idle for a while until the screen turns off 5. Turn off the display physically if it doesn't do so on its own (mine does after 15min of no signal being received) 6. Wait a little while for good measure 7. Turn the screen on, then wake the computer up OBSERVED RESULT Half the time, Plasma taskbar doesn't show up anymore, the start menu works when pressing Super but the only way to bring plasma widgets back is `systemctl --user restart plasma-plasmashell`. EXPECTED RESULT Plasma widgets should be there as normal SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: NixOS 25.05 KDE Plasma Version: 6.2.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.9.0 Qt Version: 6.8.1 Nvidia: 565.77 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION I'm guessing this is caused by the HDMI display not reporting its resolution anymore when it powers down for real. It's an LG G2 TV. KWin does have other issues with my HDMI displays, like it sometimes won't remember what refresh rate I'd chosen and defaults to 60. I don't have any displayport displays to test at the moment. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[frameworks-ktexteditor] [Bug 499268] New: text editors "wrap around" when moving between bookmarks and reaching first/last bookamrk
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=499268 Bug ID: 499268 Summary: text editors "wrap around" when moving between bookmarks and reaching first/last bookamrk Classification: Frameworks and Libraries Product: frameworks-ktexteditor Version: 6.10.0 Platform: unspecified OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: kwrite-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: peter.ujfal...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY Since commit https://invent.kde.org/frameworks/ktexteditor/-/commit/87b2184be467e5f2747c7583b77675b57710f875 the text editor behavior changed and now it unconditionally cycles between the bookmarks. If the cursor is at the first bookmark and using + the cursor moves to the _last_ bookmark instead of staying where it is as there is no previous bookmark in text file. Similarly at the last bookmark pressing + will jump to the _first_ bookmark instead of staying as there is no next bookmark in document. The commit is made in response to https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=472354, so it looks like there is at least one person who prefers this operation... I have been holding on to older ktexteditor with Krusader, but it got ported to KF6, so now it's editor also cycles without an option to restore the old behavior. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open a text file 2. Place several bookmarks 3. Try to find the _first_ or _last_ bookmark with keyboard navigation (ALT+ PGUP/DOWN) OBSERVED RESULT Instead of stopping at the first/last bookmark the cursor cycles back at the other end, one cannot just blindly smash the PGUP/DOWN to reach the first/last bookmark but needs to carefully watch the line numbers/position to determine which one is the first or last one. This is extremely annoying when working with large log files with mostly identical locations bookmarked and trying to identify changes and then figure out where that places is compared to the first/last bookmark. EXPECTED RESULT No wrap around happens at the first/last bookmark. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS ktexteditor since commit 87b2184be467e5f2747c7583b77675b57710f875 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Since the change to wrap around was made in response to a request, it might be best to have an option to 'do not wrap around when moving between bookmarks' so users can select what best fits their use? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
