Sorry, don't be mad, you've written a lot, but what can we do? Here digiKam
runs in a variety of configurations without any problems. If you have images
that you can't open, it would be good to provide one. A DebugView log can also
help. Have you moved images under Windows to an HDD that you can no longer
open? The first step would be to check the HDD. Are the settings of your
collection still correct, are the paths correct? You could use the collection
update function (round circle icon). But without any information we can't
help...
