I can sometimes reproduce the crash on Windows. The JPEG error handler doesn't
always seem to work.

OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: major

 Component: general
  Assignee: simon.pers...@mykolab.com

  Target Milestone: ---

As of May 2020, even Debian has dropped support for Python 2, and sadly Bub has
never been ported to Python 3.

In other words: on recent distributions it is impossible to use the Bup backup
feature.

Suggestion: maybe get in touch with the Bup developers? I don't know if there
are any alternative git-like backup tools out there

No rotation works anymore? How exactly? Install the latest version from here:

https://files.kde.org/digikam/

1. Download "DebugView" from Microsoft.
2. Set this environment variable in the Windows editor for environment
variables:

Variable: QT_LOGGING_RULES
Value: digikam.*=true

3. Start DebgugView and start digiKam. Try a rotation, send the log from
DebugView.

Yes, let's set it to resolved. The second problem with zero values instead of
empty values is already tracked on our side and will be fixed in 2.9.

  Target Milestone: ---

For RKWard I am currently working on a "wizard" to look for some optional but
recommended external software. I would love for that wizard to be able to offer
to install the software in question mostly automagically.

I was hoping to be able to utilize muon for this (if available), but to my
disappointment, there does not seem to be a commandline option to select one or
more packages for installation. Something like

  muon install kbibtex okular

Obviously, package names may differ across distributions, but in many cases I
imagine the above could work out of the box, and would be very useful, indeed.

I think the code should just disallow using '/' in file names, silently
replacing it with the fraction slash is probably going to cause issues like the
one reported here.

For dir names, the code in KNewFileMenu simply creates sub-dirs if it detects
'/' in the name, and it informs the user about that.

Created attachment 128949

QML test sample to reproduce the bug

SUMMARY

When a Kirigami.OverlaySheet contains a ListView with section headers,
the first delegate gets assigned a position of (0,0), and gets hidden
behind the header.

It only re-positions when the delegate is destroyed and re-created,
for example, when a filter changes the model.
Calling `forceLayout()` or other signals do not fix it.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Hello, my English level is limited, please forgive me if there is any
inappropriate expression. I am an old user of kdenlive, and often process more
than 1 hour of video, more than 100-300 video clips. For many years, once more
than 50 clips are imported, they often crash and crash. After importing,
importing more than 50 video clips from the project box to the timeline often
crashes and freezes. When all imports are complete and normal editing is
possible, it often takes more than 1 hour, or even more, half an hour when you
are lucky. But I always hope that the new version can improve this, but for
several years, it has always been like this. Recently, I am editing more than
200 video clips. I spent 3 hours and still cannot edit normally. I still import
them. I collapsed, it really collapsed.

There was a regression in kcmutils 5.67.0 that caused kontact to crash when
opening its settings.

This might be the cause for this crash here too I suppose.

--- Comment #6 from Manuel López Antequera ---
I'd like to add that I have the same problem with videos from my DJI drone. I
can report the same behavior as Karol when running with and without -map 0.

It seems like there is some stream that ffmpeg does not support in DJI video
files.

I used ffprobe and ffprobe -show_streams on the file to get more info (check
below for dumps). There are 3 streams: #0 is video, #1 is some non-standard
drone metadata, and #2 is a subtitle track for telemetry. ffmpeg is choking on
#1 because of the -map 0 flag.

The documentation of ffmpeg (https://trac.ffmpeg.org/wiki/Map) reveals that
using "-map 0" will attempt to use all of the streams in the file.

Removing -map 0 initiates some sort of automatic way of picking 1 video and 1
audio stream (https://ffmpeg.org/ffmpeg.html#Stream-selection). I think this
makes sense since we have no GUI to select streams anyways.

[plasmashell] [Bug 421392] plasmashell crashes when opening the thermal monitor widget settings

2020-05-31 Thread bugzilla_noreply

New crash information added by DrKonqi

plasmashell (5.18.5) using Qt 5.14.2

- What I was doing when the application crashed:
Attempted to access the settings of the thermal monitor.

- Custom settings of the application:
Using Mesa 20.1.0 with Neon (Kisak). I had thought that was the cause, as I
first noticed the crash rright after the update to 20.1.0, but rolling back to
Mesa 20.0.7 from Kisak-turtle makes no difference. Neither does official kernel
5.4 from the focal repo.

And what exactly were the rules you have added contained? As I am interested in
doing so, at least for a few of the applications I am using daily (e.g.:
tilix).

Git commit d725fc59bf11663a8dc5df4b633c15f914b97f9b by Ismael Asensio.
Committed on 31/05/2020 at 10:51.
Pushed by iasensio into branch 'master'.

[kcm/kwinrules] Detect also window complete class

Summary:
When detecting the properties of a window, now it shows and lets the user
select the window complete class.
If this property is selected in the overlay, `Window class` takes the whole
class value, and the option `Match window whole class` is set.

This adds back a feature the old kcm was offering.
FIXED-IN: 5.20

Test Plan:
- `Detect window properties` and pick a firefox window
- The property selector shows: `Window class: navigator` and `Whole window
class: navigator firefox`
- Selecting the latter set the properties as per summary

SUMMARY

Currently on the login screen after some idle time (60 seconds) all controls

Wow, this is a game changer. Thank you very much for the trick. By just
pointing the desktop file to the original desktop file:
/usr/share/applications/com.gexperts.Tilix.desktop

I get a nice looking icon in the "Large Icons" task switcher. Can't this be set
somehow globally?

It seems that the Red and Blue color channels in the screenshot are swapped.

You can do the following in GIMP to see the correct colors:
1. Go to Colors -> Components -> Channel Mixer
2. Set Red in Red channel to 0
3. Set Blue in Red channel to 1
4. Set Red in Blue channel to 1
5. Set Blue in Blue channel to 0

[krita] [Bug 422156] Krita and its documentation don't give credit to its translators

2020-05-31 Thread Tyson Tan
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=422156

I did some research, found out that some KDE applications add these extra
translatable strings to their POT file, for example:

Translators
- Default: Your names (active years), separated with comma
- Translation: KDE China (1990-2020),Weng Xuetian (2001-2007),Guo Yunhe
(2007-2020)

Translator emails
- Default: Your emails, separated with comma, same order as the names
- Translation: kde-ch...@kde.org,x...@gmail.com,x...@outlook.com

We can also use the same thing as the author list for listing the individual
translators. Just tell the translators to fill in their own info instead.
Information provided by: https://tdg.docbook.org/tdg/4.5/author.html Used as
follows:

CREDIT_FOR_TRANSLATORS
The Chinese translation of this application was provided by KDE Chinese
localization team. To become a translator, please go to: URL.

ROLES_OF_TRANSLATORS

YunheGuox...@gmail.com
XuetianWengx...@gmail.com

We can then tell to Krita only display the translator page when those strings
are translated.

[krunner] [Bug 417070] KRunner makes excessive writes during searching.

2020-05-31 Thread Hakan Bayindir
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=417070

Hello Alex,

Thanks for the patches and all the hard work. I have a question.

As far as understood, the locking in SQLite is as follows [0]:

1. In most cases many clients can have locks on a SQLite DB.
2. If a client is preparing to write, all other locks become read-only.
3. To be able to actually write, all other locks shall clear (i.e. other
clients shall close connection). Otherwise writes hang until all other locks
clear.

Because of 3., Firefox and Chrome claims exclusive locks on all SQLite DBs on
startup. Considering the DBs may get extremely big (see my survey about writes
in this), can a more sophisticated logic can be implemented? It shall work as
follows:

1. If the DBs are not locked, sync the changes to local Bookmark DBs.
2. If the DBs are locked and KDE integration plugins are available, sync the
changes over the plugin connection (since plugins can read the bookmarks).

This will further reduce the write load on system SSDs since the delta will be
much smaller than copying a whole DB over and over.

Since SSDs getting cheaper and TBW values doesn't increase significantly over
the years, minimizing writes looks like a wise ideal to pursue.

What's your opinion on this?

Regards,

Hakan

Bug ID: 422295
Summary: Global menu makes menu disappear on second screen
   Product: kdeplasma-addons
   Version: 5.18.90
  Platform: Manjaro
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: General
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: jan.clausse...@web.de
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
I am not sure where to put this. I have no panel on the second screen and
global menu did not change the application's menu on that screen until
recently. Now the menu of the application disappears and is also not visible,
when in the global menu. It only reappears when I drag it onto the primary
screen, where the panel (and the global menu) is located.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Install and configure the global menu applet
2. Connect a secondary screen
3. Drag an application onto the secondary screen

OBSERVED RESULT
The menu disappears completely

EXPECTED RESULT
The menu stays in the application, since there is no panel on the secondary
screen

There are two approaches to get where you want, the user himself should be able

I have seen this occasionally when setting up a new search. I know it's
anecdotal but I'll try and get some logging the next time it happens to me.

What generally happens is that something like the picture height or width have
been set to unfeasible small values, maybe by accidentally touching the scroll
wheel while hovering over the field.

For me, I think part of the problem is that I expect the 'Advanced Search'
button to open up a new, reset search, whereas it does not always. For example
I just tried it and it carried over the album selection from my last query, but
not the date selection I was using.

Of course, doing a reset will sort this.

Maybe the 'Advanced search' button should implement 'new' advanced search? The
only other implementation of new advanced search would seem to be in right
click menu of an existing search. This is not obvious at first.

[plasmashell] [Bug 341143] Bring back per-virtual-desktop wallpapers

2020-05-31 Thread Lehmeier
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=341143

If people are slowly losing patience, it is because you have been reporting
this bug since 2014 and have been put off and ignored ever since. It should be
clear that you will become sarcastic, ironic or just frustrated.
Instead of continuing to ignore this error, you should finally solve it.
There was already a solution for this in KDE 4.4 ( Comment 319 ), why is it not
reactivated?
With it you could give each virtual desktop its own background image, define
its own desktop and adjust everything so that it was easy and clear. Working
with it was a real pleasure. KDE 5 does not come along with this.

This would not only make KDE more user friendly but also regain a lot of trust.

So if you think you can ignore a problem that many people are interested in,
don't be surprised if the users will turn away in the long run.
If you ignore the user with his needs, you shouldn't be surprised if the
support of the users will break off in the long run.

Maybe the solution will be moved to KDE 6 or KDE 7. Let's wait and see what
happens next.

[tellico] [Bug 422298] New: blank list and column settings are rest after changing field order in the windows Fields

2020-05-31 Thread Stephane Couturier
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=422298

Bug ID: 422298
Summary: blank list and column settings are rest after changing
field order in the windows Fields
   Product: tellico
   Version: 3.3
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: ro...@periapsis.org
  Reporter: cont...@symbioxy.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

Hi,
When I change the order of the fields in the windows Fields, and when I somehow
switch position between some that are displayed, the list goes blank until I
close and restart Tellico, and then the List is reduced to the Title field.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Display some additional fields, e.g Title, Year, Genre
2. go to Fields, select Genre and move it up the list before Year
3. apply, the list area is getting blank.

OBSERVED RESULT

EXPECTED RESULT
- changing fields order on the Field window does not blanks the list,
- list settings are not lost (field selected, order, size of the columns)

[digikam] [Bug 422279] Repeatable crash when rotating

2020-05-31 Thread Maik Qualmann
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=422279

The debug log contains hardly anything from digiKam. Setting the environment
variable does not have to be correct.
