[Ilugc] evolution client configuration : GNOME_PLATFORM... configure: error: Package requirements (glib-2.0 >= 2.18.0 )

2009-08-18 Thread dhanesh1212121212
hi friends,

while trying to configure evolution mail client iam getting an error like

checking for GNOME_PLATFORM... configure: error: Package requirements
(glib-2.0 >= 2.18.0
 gtk+-2.0 >= 2.14.0
 gconf-2.0 >= 2.0.0
 libbonobo-2.0 >= 2.20.3
 libbonoboui-2.0 >= 2.4.2
 libglade-2.0 >= 2.0.0
 libgnomecanvas-2.0 >= 2.0.0
 libgnomeui-2.0 >= 2.0.0
 libxml-2.0 >= 2.0.0
 shared-mime-info >= 0.22) were not met:

Requested 'glib-2.0 >= 2.18.0' but version of GLib is 2.12.3
Requested 'gtk+-2.0 >= 2.14.0' but version of GTK+ is 2.10.4
Requested 'libbonobo-2.0 >= 2.20.3' but version of libbonobo is 2.16.0
Requested 'shared-mime-info >= 0.22' but version of shared-mime-info is 0.19

Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non-standard prefix.

Alternatively, you may set the environment variables GNOME_PLATFORM_CFLAGS
and GNOME_PLATFORM_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config.
See the pkg-config man page for more details.

i tried to set environment variable 'export
PKG_CONFIG_PATH=/usr/local/lib/pkgconfig:$PKG_CONFIG_PATH'

actually iam not able to find out whats is the error i was trying this
for past 1 week redhat el5server is the OS

./configure --prefix=/usr/local/evolution(version)

this is the command i used to run the script

hope friends will help me

You have to make entry in the /etc/fstab for mounting new partition
automatically at boot time. To manually mount use mount command like this

mount /dev/partitionname /mountdirectory

More info about devices will be useful to give proper guidance.

Samba can do Windows NTLMSSP authentication. Run Samba as a server.
All Windows users can connect.

Not true. Samba can do it.

This project requires some time, say around 10 days. I hear that there is a
script to automate LDAP installation. Search for it.

There is no concept of virus in linux.

Why are you using two DHCP servers? That has nothing to do with what you
are trying to do.

You can use a combination of SAMBA and openLDAP and with PAM module on
the Linux client.

Honestly, I haven't even thought of doing it as it restricts the freedom.

You can refer to OpenLDAP site. They have a wonderful document on LDAP,
however, I suggest to check on SAMBA site and they are sure to have
sample config file for SAMBA / LDAP implementation.

Interoperability with windows is a risky business, always. They (M$)
keep changing their APIs often. You may not be able to achieve 100%
interoperability.

It depends on your skills... I would suggest 10 days...

It is a joke... If you don't have a policy and if your users are not
following the policy then how ever you try to secure your network, you
will end up with a nice hole.

Remember, there are worms successfully written for Linux as well.

"sudo apt-get install *wvdial*" will give the Regex compilation error

"sudo apt-get install wvdial" will work.
If the package is not found in the repo it will show the error
"E: Couldn't find package wvdial"

hope this helps!!

[Ilugc] Hosting for podcasts in tamil

2009-08-18 Thread Shrinivasan T
Friends.

I am working on creating podcasts in tamil about linux and other FOSS
technologies.

I need contribution from you.

Please contact me offlist for participating.

Once, if we get fair podcasts, we need to host them.

Is there any free hosting service available for podcasts?

Thanks.

Automatically yes but only after you disclosed your account information
to some service you signed up for. If you look closely in the sign up
screens, most such services have an option to skip the
Google/Hotmail/Yahoo ... information.
