[GNC] Puppy linux problem with notes/memo field on import and invoices due reminder l.
I'm using GNUcash Version: 3.8Build ID: 3.8b+(2019-12-29)on a fossapup linux USBWhen I go to Business>Customer>Invoice Due Reminder, I get a window called 'Due Invoices Reminder' and instead of showing the Companies Name in the 'company' column, it shows the Jobs Name, which means I have to open the invoice to see who it's for. Any way to change this? Also, when I import from .qif the notes or memo field is not imported. Is there a different version I can try apart from the one noted above?Jonathan Francoeur a.k.a. I don't know if you did your own build, or how you installed it, but if your Linux has also never been updated in 4.5 years, you may need to update that as well... GnuCash generally keeps up with the libraries and other system files, and I'm sure that there have been a lot of changes since then. If you do decide to update GnuCash, the recommended method is 1) Verify your file integrity by running Check & Repair All (under the Actions menu [at least in 5.8]) 2) update to the latest 3.x build and run the Check & Repair again 3) upgrade to the latest 4.x and run Check & Repair again 4) upgrade to 5.8 and run one more Check & Repair _ Richard Losey rlo...@gmail.com Micah 6:8 ___ gnucash-user mailing list gnucash-user@gnucash.org To update your subscription preferences or to unsubscribe: https://lists.gnucash.org/mailman/listinfo/gnucash-user - Please remember to CC this list on all your replies. Re: [GNC] Puppy linux problem with notes/memo field on import and invoices due reminder l.
FossaPup is based on Ubuntu Focal Fossa 20.04 LTS. I don't think this ubuntu-based series was continued, at least not officially. The newer release is based on Debian Bookworm, but Fossapup did get an updated release iso in March 2023. Even modern Pups run in RAM. That's part of how they work. I don't think the OS is necessarily the issue. And as I haven't touched Puppy in several years, I don't know if someone is maintaining GnuCash builds, or if you have to build it yourself. I'd agree with the recommendation to just build a modern version if that isn't too much trouble. This may cause issues with dependencies though and might necessitate upgrading FossaPup to BookwormPup, or else building lots of upgraded dependencies first. I use the Invoices/Bills Due Reminder feature, but I don't use the Jobs feature, so can not comment on if that bug still exists in 5.8. Maybe someone else can chime in. There is no indication of which version of Gnucash will run on that OS but it probably cannot run recent versions since it holds the entire OS in RAM. There would not be much room for data unless there is enough RAM (and other resources) to switch to a different flavor of Linux. I can run GnuCash 4.8 in LinuxLite 6.0 with all current updates, but it is a lot slower than 5.8 would be in [shudder] Windows. That said, can someone answer the OP's question about the invoice due reminder? ___ gnucash-user mailing list gnucash-user@gnucash.org To update your subscription preferences or to unsubscribe: https://lists.gnucash.org/mailman/listinfo/gnucash-user - Please remember to CC this list on all your replies.
