[GNC] Error in Mutal Funds value

2023-05-03 Thread stdenis0--- via gnucash-user
Yesterday I added my Mutal Funds Statement to Gnucash 5.1 Operating System
Windows 11. I updated the Price Database manually and entered my present
positions in my Fidelity and Vanguard Accounts and reconciled the accounts.
My problem is while the quantities match my statement and the current
balance do not match. My Fidelity account 720.76 more than my statement
while my holdings in Vanguard - 25585.99 less than my statement. I recently
grouped my Fidelity and Vanguard holdings was Parent Accounts so that I get
sub totals of the Retirement Account.

Re: [GNC] Downloading GnuCash onto a Mac Pro

2023-05-03 Thread R Losey
Linux? Do you mean the Terminal? You don't need that for GnuCash.

The download should go into your downloads folder; controlled by the
browser you used to download it. Most browsers will allow you to open the
folder that contains the download. It should be a .dmg file. For the Mac
(I have an iMac), you double-click the .DMG file and then drag GnuCash to
the Apps folder.

You should then be able to run GnuCash; the Mac will think it is "risky",
so you have to (only once) tell it to open anyway. Sometimes, it doesn't
open that first time and one needs to click on it again, but that hasn't
happened to me for the last couple of versions.

I have GnuCash on my iMac (M1, purchased last year)... it is fastest on
the iMac, but I also have it on Windows and Linux. The data file is stored
on a local NAS, so that all three computers can see it. I've been happy
with GnuCash for my personal finances.

2023-05-03 Thread Joseph St. Denis via gnucash-user
All of the transactions were entered manually. I did try to get the
transactions with a CVS and an QFX files but no transactions were found. I went
through all of the Mutual Funds in the pop ups. There were no results.

I checked the entries several times to make sure that the price data were
correct and the fund shares quantities matched. I also entered the data in a
spread sheet which confirmed the statements.

hi Joseph

The value you see in the chart of accounts header account is sum of your
security value with the latest price you have in your price system.

You can check the same by deleting couple of the price values in your price

[GNC] Status of SourceForge tip jar

2023-05-03 Thread Wally Hackenslacker via gnucash-user
Hello all.

I wanted to ask what is the status of the SourceForge tip jar for GnuCash. I'm
looking to make a donation and the method that works for me is making a Paypal
donation through the tip jar but I wanted to make sure that it's still working,
if it is trustworthy and that the money will reach the devs of the project.

Thanks.

[GNC] Cannot find gnc-fq-check and gnc-fq-helper

2023-05-03 Thread WR D
I am on Windows 11, using latest Gnucash 5.1, with Finance::Quote 1.54 installed

There are some helper scripts described here:
https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Online_Quotes

But looking in this folder "C:\Program Files (x86)\gnucash\bin", I don't see
either "gnc-fq-check" or "gnc-fq-helper" - have these been removed from Gnucash
installation, or are they somewhere else?

Regards,
Bill

Re: [GNC] Error in Mutal Funds value

2023-05-03 Thread John Layman
The totals you see on the account screen will be derived from prices nearest
to the current date. Check the price source you've used in producing the
Advanced Portfolio Report. If it resolves to other than the current date,
then of course, the two will not agree.

Hello Murugan and others.

It's not the value in the Advance Portfolio that's incorrect it is subtotal
in Accounts Screen that is incorrect. Please view the screenshot provided.
The Advance Portfolio Report is the values that are correctly entered.

Joseph

just for understanding, your mutual funds quantities are correctly
reflected, The dollar value of the portfolios are not matching.

If you are checking in Advanced Portfolio report :

Click options and unclick "Set preference for price list data"

This will take transaction pricing and will show what you have entered

All of the transactions were entered manually. I did try to get the
transactions with a CVS and an QFX files but no transactions were found. I
went through all of the Mutual Funds in the pop ups. There were no results.

I checked the entries several times to make sure that the price data were
correct and the fund shares quantities matched. I also entered the data in a
spread sheet which confirmed the statements.

[GNC] GnuCash crashes on start

2023-05-03 Thread Paul Coleman
Hi, I’ve been using GnuCash for several years on Linux (Fedora 38) without
any issue. However, now when I try to start GnuCash, I get an error in the
console: “GnuCash could not obtain the lock for the
/home/cybr/GnuCashData/CyBrGnucash202001.gnucash. The database may be in
use by another user in which case you should not open the database. What
would you like to do?

Selecting Open Anyway or Open Read Only gives the same error in the
console:

Found Finance::Quote version 1.54.

*** buffer overflow detected ***: terminated

Aborted (core dumped)

The output of gnucash –paths is:

GnuCash Paths

GNC_USERDATA_DIR: /home/cybr/.local/share/gnucash (user modifiable)

GNC_USERCONFIG_DIR: /home/cybr/.config/gnucash (user modifiable)

GNC_BIN: /usr/bin

GNC_LIB: /usr/lib64/gnucash

GNC_CONF: /etc/gnucash

I’ve searched through the FAQs, bugs and StackExchange site and could not
find any similar error.

The storage layer is sqlite.

Could this be a corrupted file? If so, which file is likely? I backup this
machine weekly and can restore individual files and directories.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

2023-05-03 Thread Murugan Muruganandam
Bill

please read below the release note s

The Finance::Quote interface is rewritten in C++. This new design will allow
much better capture of diagnostics from Finance::Quote making troubleshooting
problems much easier.
The perl Finance::Quote utilities gnc-fq-check, gnc-fq-dump, and
gnc-fq-helper are removed and new commands added to gnucash-cli: --quotes info
replaces gnc-fq-check and --quotes dump replaces gnc-fq-dump.

2023-05-03 Thread Adrien Monteleone

From the 5.0 Release Announcement:

"The Online Quotes facility has been completely rewritten and the old
gnc-fq-check, gnc-fq-dump, and gnc-fq-helper programs have been replaced
with finance-quote-wrapper. The functions performed by those programs
may now be accomplished by passing commands to gnucash-cli -Q, see
gnucash-cli --help for specifics."

Re: [GNC] Error in Mutual Funds value

2023-05-03 Thread Kalpesh Patel
I have gotten my self into this situation at times and the culprit that I find
is that a transaction amount provided is off by large value even though
quantity is correct, for example VFIAX being purchased at $1.00 rather than
$377.71 (today's price). This will throw off the subtotal by quite a large
amount and this mistake happens unintentionally as a wrong key by mistake is
depressed.

GnuCash 5.1 doesn't seem to be available yet on flathub. Looks like the

[GNC] Permanently saving pins for aqbanking

2023-05-03 Thread mldevw
Hello,

I am using gnucash with aqbanking for online banking. How can I
permanently save the pin for access so I don't have to enter it any
time I restart gnucash?

I already found out that aqbanking allows the creation of a pinfile
"mkpinlist" as well as way to use it from aqbanking "--pinfile=...".

Is there a way to append the "--pinfile" to the command from gnucash to
aqbanking?

Thank you in advance.

Cheers,
