Thanks Danilo for your answer on the bug report (link above).

So now we're looking for a talented programmer, with Perl skills, who
could produce a new patch (with tests), as Danilo recommends on the
report.

Candidacy is open :-) We promise the winner to be cited in the following
GNOME quarterly report!

Is it possible to use a patched intltool-extract on l10n.gnome.org until
this is fixed upstream? I've been using the patched version on my
machine for a few years now, and it seems to work fine. If it is on
l10n.gnome.org, at least several people would be able to get the benefit
from it. I usually prefer the files from l10n.gnome.org anyway, so I
don't usually get the benefit of my patched copy of intltool-extract. I
know it is extra hassle in terms of the deployment on the machine, but
there is huge benefit, and seemingly no quick solution in sight for an
upstream fix.
