Re: [PROPOSAL] Etch

FWIW, I'm +1 on the proposal, regardless of the name.

anything gets done...

here is a summary of who's responded to our proposal and an indication

of the people that mention name (8), only 3 are voting:

henning: concerned about confusion with debian. only says we need to
be careful and explicit.
niall: wants to see the q resolved. likes the name, sees no real
objection.

niclas: conflict with debian; only worries about it.

of the rest, most like the name etch and seem to be just "tossing
the ball around".

the main other concern is that of confusion with Debian Etch vs.
Apache Etch. There
was some discussion about whether etch could get to the top of the
google list.

so, can we put the name question to bed? it was suggested that the
podling could/should

decide the issue for itself, later. is there a problem with that?

are there any other concerns about the proposal which aren't
addressed?

Re: [Proposal] Windmill

2008-08-15 Thread Les Hazlewood
Hi Mikeal,

Excellent answer, thanks very much for the clarification. I myself have
enjoyed using Selenium in the past, and Windmill sounds like a definite
improvement. It sounds great - I think it would be a worthwhile Incubator
project.

+1 (non-binding)

Thanks,

Les

[VOTE] Release Apache Pig 0.1.0-incubating

2008-08-15 Thread Olga Natkovich
Hi Everyone,

Apache Pig would like to release Pig 0.1.0-incubating. This is a second
try. We have changed the NOTICE file to contain copyright statements
from libraries Pig depends on.

Since the change is very small, I am starting this thread in parallel
with the vote on pig-dev mailing list. The MessageId for that thread is
<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

The new artifacts are available at
http://people.apache.org/~olga/pig-0.1.0-candidate-5/

The keys used to sign the release are available at
/www/www.apache.org/dist/incubator/pig/KEYS on people.apache.org

Please vote by 6 pm on Wednesday, 8/20.

Thanks,

Olga
