https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=240262 --- Comment #5 from Christoph Moench-Tegeder --- Unless I'm missing something... - this is devel/llvm80 failing, not firefox (llvm80 is a build-dependency of firefox, yes, but in this case we haven't even really started on the firefox build), so gecko might not be the right person to talk to - despite www/py-requests being listed in the RUN_DEPENDS of textproc/py-sphinx, there is no py36-requests satisfying that dependency for py36-sphinx in your package list (there are py27-requests and py27-sphinx, but it's the python 3.6 flavor which is bombing out here, to the 2.7 packages are not helpful). And what if other ports require different options? But I don't like the combination of options. It would be more flexible if a port enables only one option. Regarding the patch, it looks strange to me. Why not use OPTIONS_EXCLUDE rather than redefining OPTIONS_DEFINE? What if we move the OPTIONS from Makefile to another file (e.g. options.mk). Let py-fonttools-foo include that file and add py-fonttools and foo_RUN_DEPENDS to RUN_DEPENDS. That clarifies, if I'm understand correctly, that the patch included here, is *not* in 2.7.0 (the current version of the port), but was committed upstream *after* 2.7.0's release ("post 2.7.0"), Therefore this bug depends on bug 240242 (to be considered resolved and subsequently closed) Note: In most circumstances, it is strongly recommended to separate patches for bugfixes, from version updates, so that the former (bugfixes) can be merged to the quarterly branch. Lean as much as possible to not bundling bugfixes with other changes, in separate bugs, unless it is an undue/unreasonable burden, and instead, produce patches against the current port version where possible. That py36-requests is not installed is indeed the cause, why its not being installed is the question I would also test another port that has sphinx and therefore requests (python 3.6 version) as a dependency. Once isolated, we can update the issue summary to reflect where the issue is, if it is in a port, and not a local configuration problem. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ freebsd-python@freebsd.org mailing list https://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-python To unsubscribe, send any mail to "freebsd-python-unsubscr...@freebsd.org"

And > what if other ports require different options? When a new option is needed, it will be added to OPTIONS_SLAVE of py-fonttools-extras. The use of -extras is used to avoid renaming and prevent the name from being too long when more options are needed. > But I don't like the combination of options. It would be more flexible if a > port enables only one option. I don't like controlling multiple options with single port, either. I already proposed making one port for each option in attachment 205520, but you didn't seem to review it. Therefore, I just assumed that you had rejected the idea and I had to find a different solution. > Regarding the patch, it looks strange to me. Why not use OPTIONS_EXCLUDE > rather than redefining OPTIONS_DEFINE? There are 8 options in py-fonttools. In order to hide 'make config' dialog, I have to exclude all options which are not enabled in the slave port, which is a long list that have to be changed every time an option is added to py-fonttools. Redefining OPTIONS_DEFINE means we can just ignore options we don't need, which should be easier to read and maintain. > What if we move the OPTIONS from Makefile to another file (e.g. options.mk). > Let py-fonttools-foo include that file and add py-fonttools and > foo_RUN_DEPENDS to RUN_DEPENDS.
