The patch in this PR is already in upstream (post 2.7.0), so the update in bug
240242 (which pulls it up to VCS head) includes it. So, that will subsume
this.

When firefox failed to build I immediately updated ports and tried
www/chromium.

The attachments were prepared _after_ the update and while www/chromium was
compiling. I hope that does not obscure their significance.

Also, I've been using Stefan Esser's experimental portmaster-devel, mostly
for sake of its restart feature. If that is an impediment please say so and
I'll revert to using plain make.

Unless I'm missing something...
- this is devel/llvm80 failing, not firefox (llvm80 is a build-dependency of
firefox, yes, but in this case we haven't even really started on the firefox
build), so gecko might not be the right person to talk to
- despite www/py-requests being listed in the RUN_DEPENDS of
textproc/py-sphinx, there is no py36-requests satisfying that dependency for
py36-sphinx in your package list (there are py27-requests and py27-sphinx, but
it's the python 3.6 flavor which is bombing out here, to the 2.7 packages are
not helpful).

I'd guess that whatever tool you're using to manage your packages did fail to
do so properly (unless you did some --force'ing and everything is on you).

(In reply to Ting-Wei Lan from comment #21)

Instead of -extras, I would prefer current naming which is clear enough. And
what if other ports require different options?

But I don't like the combination of options. It would be more flexible if a
port enables only one option.

Regarding the patch, it looks strange to me. Why not use OPTIONS_EXCLUDE rather
than redefining OPTIONS_DEFINE?

What if we move the OPTIONS from Makefile to another file (e.g. options.mk).
Let py-fonttools-foo include that file and add py-fonttools and foo_RUN_DEPENDS
to RUN_DEPENDS. If a port requires fonttools[foo] and fonttools[bar], you could
add py-fonttools-foo and py-fonttools-bar to RUN_DEPENDS.

(In reply to fullermd from comment #10)

Thank you for your feedback.

That clarifies, if I'm understand correctly, that the patch included here, is
*not* in 2.7.0 (the current version of the port), but was committed upstream
*after* 2.7.0's release ("post 2.7.0"),

Therefore this bug depends on bug 240242 (to be considered resolved and
subsequently closed)

Note: In most circumstances, it is strongly recommended to separate patches for
bugfixes, from version updates, so that the former (bugfixes) can be merged to
the quarterly branch.

Lean as much as possible to not bundling bugfixes with other changes, in
separate bugs, unless it is an undue/unreasonable burden, and instead, produce
patches against the current port version where possible.

This bug should be assigned to the committer who is resolving or resolves bug
240242 (currently Yuri)

(In reply to Christoph Moench-Tegeder from comment #5)

Certainly reproduction using plain make or portmaster (non -devel) would be
handy, if nothing else than to isolate where the issue may be root caused.

That py36-requests is not installed is indeed the cause, why its not being
installed is the question

I would also test another port that has sphinx and therefore requests (python
3.6 version) as a dependency.

Once isolated, we can update the issue summary to reflect where the issue is,
if it is in a port, and not a local configuration problem.

[Bug 240262] www/firefox: Fails to build: The 'requests>=2.0.0' distribution was not found and is required by Sphinx (arm, CURRENT @ r351586)

Ok, I'll revert to using plain make for further experiments.

Can you suggest a good test case for sphinx? I'm totally unfamiliar with
it; on first sight I thought it had something to do with sound.

When a new option is needed, it will be added to OPTIONS_SLAVE of
py-fonttools-extras. The use of -extras is used to avoid renaming and prevent
the name from being too long when more options are needed.

> But I don't like the combination of options. It would be more flexible if a

I don't like controlling multiple options with single port, either. I already
proposed making one port for each option in attachment 205520, but you didn't
seem to review it. Therefore, I just assumed that you had rejected the idea and
I had to find a different solution.

> Regarding the patch, it looks strange to me. Why not use OPTIONS_EXCLUDE
> rather than redefining OPTIONS_DEFINE?
There are 8 options in py-fonttools. In order to hide 'make config' dialog, I
have to exclude all options which are not enabled in the slave port, which is a
long list that have to be changed every time an option is added to
py-fonttools. Redefining OPTIONS_DEFINE means we can just ignore options we
don't need, which should be easier to read and maintain.

> What if we move the OPTIONS from Makefile to another file (e.g. options.mk).

That was what I proposed in attachment 205520. Although I called it
'Makefile.features' instead of 'options.mk', the idea is the same.

FreeBSD ports you maintain which are out of date

2019-09-02 Thread portscout
Dear port maintainer,

The portscout new distfile checker has detected that one or more of your
ports appears to be out of date. Please take the opportunity to check
each of the ports listed below, and if possible and appropriate,
submit/commit an update. If any ports have already been updated, you can
safely ignore the entry.

You will not be e-mailed again for any of the port/version combinations
below.

Full details can be found at the following URL:
http://portscout.freebsd.org/pyt...@freebsd.org.html

Port| Current version | New version
+-+
www/py-django22 | 2.2.4 | 2.2.5
+-+

If any of the above results are invalid, please check the following page
for details on how to improve portscout's detection and selection of
distfiles on a per-port basis:

Thanks.
