FreeBSD Port: vorbis-tools-1.1.1_2,3 curl-7.16.0
Install problem with the vorbis-tools. The curl dependency fails for when I try and install vorbis-tools on their own, however, I can install curl independently, but fails to install when I install vorbis tools. The steps I took were: Attempt 1: 1. install vorbis-tool failed due to curl Attempt 2: 1. install curl 2. install vorbis-tool failed again, tried install curl Attempt 3: 1. install curl 2. removed curl dependency from Makefile failed to install ( .. set_curl_opts function undefined .. ) I think that curl is not installing properly, eventhough it gives no indication it fails, causing vorbis-tools to fail. I updated my ports using cvsup earlier today, Wed Dec 19, and still get the failure. Unfetchable distfiles reminder
Dear porters, This is just a reminder to please periodically check the list of unfetchable distfiles at http://people.freebsd.org/~fenner/portsurvey/ . In particular, the list of ports with no MAINTAINER with distfile problems, which currently has 216 bad ports, is http://people.freebsd.org/~fenner/portsurvey/[EMAIL PROTECTED] Since no one is responsible for these ports, the problem won't get fixed unless someone on this list takes the initiative. In addition, the list of all ports with any unfetchable distfile is http://people.freebsd.org/~fenner/portsurvey/bad.html if you don't mind coordinating your fixes with the port MAINTAINER. Please deprecate print/acrobatviewer port
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Hello, Following some discussion on the -questions list (and a few other discussion threads on other sites), I believe that print/acrobatviewer should be deprecated in the ports tree. Acrobatviewer is no longer supported by Adobe and hasn't been developed on in quite some time. Moreover, it uses (beta) technology present from the 5.x Acrobat product family, which has a variety of security issues, as noted on the Adobe Security webpage (listed below). Finally, the port developer used the 1.1.x tree JVM as the default JVM, which is incredibly out of date and has its own set of security issues as well as is a deprecated JVM, no longer supported by Sun by my knowledge. FreeBSD Port: net-mgmt/nagios (not using a registered UID/GID?)
Is there any reason why the nagios user/group isn't using a standardized UID/GID from /usr/ports/{U,G}IDs these days? Per-port compile-time options in portmaster.rc
Hi Doug, I checked portmaster manual page for such a feature, but I didn't find one. There is the -m flag, but I have to remember the port's compile knob each time I upgrade one. Furthermore, it is really difficult to use both -a and -m at the same time. Do you have plans about this ? I would really like to switch from portupgrade -- which eats too much resources -- to portmaster on my old Pentium II running RELENG_4, but I really need this feature. I can see two ways to achieve this: - First define a function in portmaster.rc taking the port name, or category/port, and either printing the make options on stdout or setting a predefined variable. This can be easily performed with a case statement. - Use an external file processed by awk in portmaster with the following format: % * WITH_OPENSSL_STABLE=yes -DWITHOUT_X11 % editors/vim -DNO_GUI -DWITH_CSCOPE % multimedia/mplayer -DWITH_VORBIS -DWITH_AALIB -DWITH_LIBCACA -DWITH_OPTIMIZED_CFLAGS I think the second solution would be easier for the end user. What do you think of this ? Would you accept a patch implementing this solution ? This gives you a ports.conf file where you can put global and per-port configuration options. This file will be used regardless of what ports tree manager you use, as it hooked into /etc/make.conf. Per-port configuration should not be part of a port upgrade tool. It should be handled by the ports tree. Problem with -pthread linking
Hello. I was updating the games/r1q2 port which consists of a client executable (r1q2) that loads the render (ref_gl.so) at run-time with dlopen(), when I noticed it wasn't able to load it. The reason is that the render needs SDL, which needs pthread but neither the render or SDL have a reference to pthread (even though the render is linked with `sdl-config --libs` which includes '-pthread'). If I link the render with '-lpthread' it adds the reference (is reported by 'ldd') and works. Is there a cleaner way to do this? Thanks and Best Regards, Ale signature.asc Description: PGP signature

HAL with new kdebase (permission problems)
Hello! I installed kdebase with HAL support - it is still greyed out in kcontrol, but seems to work. However, when I try to mount an usb memory stick, it complains about a permission problem. Mounting it in a traditional way works. My user is in groups wheel and operator, vfs.usermount is on, etc. I have hald, dbus and polkitd enabled in rc.conf, and they are running (as I said, hal seems to work: as soon as I insert the usb stick, a dialogue appears). I even added my user to group haldaemon (I remember having to do that on archlinux). What can I do to use HAL with KDE? I tried looking at policykit and hal config files, but couldn't figure out if I need to set something there... Thanks!! ___ freebsd-ports@freebsd.org mailing list http://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-ports To unsubscribe, send any mail to "[EMAIL PROTECTED]"

Using -pthread effectively means that references to threading functions always need to be resolved through executables instead of shared libraries, i.e. you'll probably need to link rlq2 itself with -pthread. imp port update now forces courier?
it seems that the latest imp port update is insisting to install courier no matter what arguments are passed to make. my ports.conf file for imp looks like: mail/imp: WITHOUT_LDAP|WITHOUT_SMIME|WITH_DOVECOT yet every time i try to portmaster -a, i get courier-imap's make config popping up. is anyone else seeing the same? it never did this before this last change Eric ___ freebsd-ports@freebsd.org mailing list http://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-ports To unsubscribe, send any mail to "[EMAIL PROTECTED]"
