[Evolution] Writing in Reply is Backwards

2006-01-28 Thread Gregg Fowler

I tried to reply to an html message and the reply text was typed backwards. This occurred with left margin or even when I tried to center the reply. The cursor stayed in one place and the text was typed backwards. This occurred whether the reply was before or after. I tried an experiment later with another email and all functioned correctly. I am just wondering if this is a possible bug, something in my settings, or just the characteristics of the particular email. I have saved the email and the same thing occurs when I reply to this particular email. Is it possible that I am not able to "escape" the margin of the replied to email. Really, this is a curiosity more than anything. But having just migrated from Outlook and windows, I am really like Evolution and am wanting to learn the functionality and quirks.

Thanks,
Gregg

Yup, this is a known bug. Happens in some rare occasions, and it's
apparently hard to find out what really causes this.

If the email does not hold private data, could you attach the mail to
that bug? (Save the raw mail to a file first.) If you don't feel like
creating a bugzilla account just for this purpose, I'd be glad if you
send the raw message to me directly. Thanks. :)

Welcome to a fun world. :)

Yes, logging out of X should stop all personal desktop daemons involved.
In this case, e-d-s and gconfd.

Well, logging out of X and doing the maintenance work in a virtual
terminal might be a solution for you -- but it is in no way an option
for the average user, unfortunately. Granted, neither is the need to
'kill' a process. But this is considered a bug anyway, and will be
fixed. The [force-]shutdown options are, although they can be hard for
users, too.

Better solutions are being hacked on. In general, it should be easy for
a user to get all this data and settings back. At least there should be
an easy way to backup and restore it.

Sure. :)

So "this feature will be available in the next version". [1]

Please note that 2.5 is a development branch. This is a user list.
Poornima, I don't assume users to get through the trouble of dealing
with unstable work in progress.

NL, you are free and welcome to do so anyway, if you feel a little bit
adventurous. :)

[Evolution] notification time for all day events

2006-01-28 Thread Allan Gottlieb
If I have an all day event for say 3 march 2006 I get the reminder 5
hours earlier and it says the event is from

7pm 2 march to 7pm 3 march

Since my timezone is GMT-5 (Eastern US), there seems to be a localtime
vs gmt problem, but I can't find it.

Moreover, when I have an event for a specific time interval,
say 10 pm on 5 jan 2006, everything works as expected, i.e., there is
no 5 hour time shift.

How can I arrange for the all day events to trigger (my first login
after) midnight rather than 7pm?

thanks,
allan
