  French)

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1317253] Re: UI scaling and font scaling sometime get confused/change at random.

2014-06-17 Thread RustyNail
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1310316 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1310316

Also affects me on my Samsung Ativ Book 9 when trying to scale up to
1.5. Have seen it many times over the past week while setting up the
ultrabook. Maybe a coincidence, but I notice the the font size
increase mostly after doing an install. This morning while setting up a
repository, update, install, reboot the font size went from 1.5 to 2.58.

Bug description:
  I have a Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro, with a 13.3" screen running at 3200x1800
pixels... I bought this partly to test out the UI scaling in Unity!...
and I have to say it's very awesome (both the screen and the UI
scaling)... however I have encountered a strange problem.

Seemingly at random, I have so far 3 times in 10 days had the font
size (not UI size) suddenly jump to something much too large.

UI scaling for the display is set at 1.38x and this is quite perfect
for me, it sure means no one will be able to read my screen over my
shoulder, but I that's fine! I had to install a Firefox plugin to
apply scaling there, but I realise why that is.

Anyway... I installed ubuntu-tweak and discovered that the large fonts
were due to the "Text Scaling Factor" having jumped up to a number
above 2.5... I also discovered that I could not move the slider
because every time I moved it the fonts re-scaled the slider moved and
lost mouse focus... and the slider reset to where it was to begin
with... I clicked the button on the right to return to 1.0, and it
returned to 1.4, which I assume is representative of the 1.38 I set in
the screen scaling... but I have no explanation for why it suddenly
jumped (when I logged out and back in) from 1.4 to something like
  2.5.)..

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1331037] [NEW] Touchscreens: The mouse cursor disappears when touching the screen

2014-06-17 Thread Ara Pulido
Public bug reported:

Single touch does cursor emulation, so I would expect that when I touch
the touchscreen, the cursor jumps to the touch position.

Instead of doing that, the cursor disappears until I use the mouse

[Dx-packages] [Bug 689179] Re: Pressing Alt key does not underline mnemonics

2014-06-17 Thread nqzero
when you activate a menu (either by clicking it or using the mnemonic)
the menu pops up but the mnemonics aren't underlined until a menu item
is highlighted (eg, by moving the mouse over the window or using the
arrow keys to navigate thru the menu). the mnemonics should underline as
soon as the menu pops up

When I hold the Alt key, mnemonic characters should be underlined. For
example, the F in the File menu title should be underlined because
pressing F will open said menu. This is not happening with indicator-
  appmenu.

(In addition, only Alt+F seems to open anything. Is that another bug,
or have I just forgotten the conventional shortcuts for the other
  menus?)

  [Test Case]

  Steps to reproduce:

  1) Create a second account in the system
  2) While the first account is open, open a session with the second one
  3) Try to shutdown the system

  Expected results:
The system logs out instead of shutting down (ideally with a warning on why
it did that)

  Actual results:
The system shutdowns and unsaved data on session1 is lost

  [ Regression Potential]

  None.

  --
  Desired resolution:

  - Add a warning message informing the user that other users are logged in and
then shutting down will also close their sessions as proposed in the mockup
attached to comment #12
  - The warning message should be "Other users are currently logged in to this
computer, shutting down now will also close these other sessions"

Bug description:
  [Impact]

   * Unknown GTK application causes HUD service to crash by sending
  invalid menu updates via GMenu.

  [Test Case]

   * Not reproducable so far.

  [Regression Potential]

   * Worst case is that somehow HUD doesn't work on the desktop and
  phone.

   * There are, obviously, extensive unit and functional tests to verify
  this doesn't happen.

  [Other Info]

   * The patch will report the offending application to
errors.ubuntu.com with all available debugging information.

   * The indexes are now range checked before processing. As soon as a
window sends any invalid message it is blocked.

   * Further hardening around the memory management in QtGMenu has been
  carried out.

  * The change is not as large as it at first appears. The majority of
the diff is simply replacing Type* with QSharedPointer. The rest
is the extra code for reporting the recoverable problem.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1315369] Re: Log in not available after lock screen with multi-monitor

2014-06-17 Thread Chris J Arges
This looks like a similar bug report:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1324935
There is a workaround identified here as adding the following to the kernel
cmdline: linemodeset=0 video.allow_duplicates=1
In addition it seems like v3.9 and older kernels could potentially work meaning
this could be a regression.
