Non-responsive maintainer check for eclipseo

2023-03-15 Thread Mark E. Fuller

Hi,
This is a non-responsive maintainer check for eclipseo.
I am trying to contact him as the owner of
golang-github-masterminds-semver[0].
There is one other open non-responsive maintainer check, filed ~2 weeks
ago[1].

Does anyone know how to contact eclipseo?

Thanks,
fuller

I'll try to push this along - there's a build error that needs resolving

Error building new package in sidetag

2024-07-14 Thread Mark E. Fuller

Hi all,

I am adding a few new dependencies to update a golang package (nothing
new here) and building the new packages and update in a sidetag for F40.
However, for one of the new dependencies, there is a repeated error:

"FAILED: BuildError: package golang-github-ladicle-tabwriter not in list
for tag f40-build-side-92523"

Does this mean that this (new) package simply hasn't populated yet in
the F40 list used by koji (i.e. wait it out)? Or is this something
aberrant that requires intervention to fix? It's only been a few hours
since I imported the new dependencies and built everything in rawhide.

Thanks,

Assistance unretiring branches of package

Hi all,

In order to update go-task, I need to unretire branches for F39 and

then update the package)

It's not clear to me how to proceed since the package is not orphaned

Go-SIG: One re-review and one update needed

2023-08-26 Thread Mark E. Fuller

Dear Go-list (and broader Fedora dev list),

I've been dragging on getting an update to go-task done - I need to
request a (re)review of golang-github-google-renameio-2
(https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2231733) as a dependency of
golang-mvdan-sh-3 (https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2084291)
which needs updating to build the latest go-task.

Obviously I'm willing to swap my own time and effort against getting
these tasks completed.

Hi all,

I'm trying to unretire golang-github-google-renameio-2 and have

Can anyone advise?

orphaning prometheus* and some other golang packages

2023-10-07 Thread Mark E. Fuller

Hi all,

I picked up a number of prometheus packages (see below) a few months
back during the golang scramble after an unresponsive maintainer.
I don't have the time or the interest (or the technical chops) to
maintain them.

Obviously these are important packages, so at this time I am announcing
my intention to orphan them.
Unless I hear from someone who would like to actively collaborate on
their maintenance, I'm going to orphan them in approximately one week:

golang-github-prometheus
golang-github-prometheus-node-exporter
golang-github-prometheus-exporter-toolkit
golang-github-prometheus-community-runit

golang-opentelemetry-otel
golang-google-grpc

Strange(?) build failures for golang package

2023-10-11 Thread Mark E. Fuller
I am trying to update go-task for some time now and consistently getting
a build error/failure with no clear indication of what's happened:

https://download.copr.fedorainfracloud.org/results/fuller/test-builds/fedora-rawhide-x86_64/06508072-golang-github-task/builder-live.log.gz

Is it possible that there are build flags are default settings in the
golang macros that might be leading to this?

USB-connected electrical relay control, based on hidapi

Help with go spec file

2022-06-03 Thread Mark E. Fuller

Hi all,

I'm fairly new to go and am looking to make a spec file and build
jsonnet (https://github.com/google/go-jsonnet/, https://jsonnet.org/).

The go2rpm utility has proven very helpful, but there appear to be two
irregularities with building this package that I don't know offhand how
to address (including from reading
https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/packaging-guidelines/Golang/).

1) What is the preferred way to ignore (or remove) unnecessary
BUILD.bazel files? There is one in cmd/ which is obviously not a
buildable command, and so this results in an error in the naive use case.

2) How should nested folders in cmd/ be built? Here, again, the basic
template throws an error since cmd/internal contains no *.go files, only
a BUILD.bezel file and a nested cmd directory.

Thank you all,

2022-06-03 Thread Mark E. Fuller

Dear all,

I'm looking to package task (https://taskfile.dev/) for Fedora and would
like to offer to swap reviews:

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=2078117
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=2078118
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=2093467

All three spec files were generated automatically and the reviews should
be trivial (at least I hope so).

Thanks all,
fuller

Re: Request: Airspy HF+

2022-06-18 Thread Mark E. Fuller
This package has actually already been approved for Fedora in March of
2021: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1917510

The repository is at https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/airspyhf-1.6.8-1

It looks like Emiliano (the packager, on CC) never actually imported and
built the approved package.

Emiliano: do you need/want assistance in getting this actually built and
in the repositories?

Devel List: If no response from Emiliano, what's the process here for
taking over a package in this case (and also renaming the repo to drop
the version from it)?

"Buford": I built it in COPR for now and you are welcome to grab it from
there and test it:
https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/fuller/test-builds/

Run the following command:
sudo dnf copr enable fuller/test-builds && sudo dnf install airspyhf

go version unknown?

2022-06-18 Thread Mark E. Fuller

Hi all,

I have two Fedora machines that are essentially identically configured
(to the best of my knowledge) - a daily use desktop and a laptop for
lugging around.

Anyway, somehow the laptop is properly returning `go version` and
properly running a go debugger, etc. is VS Codium, but this is not
working on the desktop and I am instead getting `go version unknown
linux/amd64` instead of a proper version.

I've tried reinstalling and and also completely removing and
reinstalling `golang`, but it's still the same.

Any suggestions as to how to troubleshoot this?

Thanks,
fuller

Check to see if you have gcc-go installed, which also provides a golang
compiler (/usr/bin/go) but not equivalent to the regular golang toolset
(golang-bin etc).

vim-sytastic-go used to depend on that, I changed that in 34 or 35
(since I had a similar problem).

Question: my error appears to be in a Python header.
Can someone take a look at this and giver me some quick feedback as to

It doesn't seem to fall into one of the neat categories described by Tomas

Re: Request: Airspy HF+

2022-07-10 Thread Mark E. Fuller

Sorry it's not working.
I simply build the existing approved package that was otherwise abandoned.

Given what you installed with Mandriva, it looks like there's another
package needed - airspyone_host, which is in the Fedora repositories.

(see e.g. https://pkgs.org/search/?q=airspyone_host)
Have you tried installing that package as well?

Please also keep in mind that Fedora is a volunteer-driven, community
project.
We all have limited time to contribute and while I and many others are
willing to assist with software like yours, it would be nicer to see a
request for assistance with getting the software into the distribution
over a lament that we do not have it.

Something isn't right with your airspyhf software. I installed it, but neither Gqrx nor
SDR++ sees the Airspy HF+ Discovery. Also, I cannot do "airspyhf_info" to see
its status. All I get is:

[BT@PC ~]$ airspyhf_info
AirSpy HF library version: 1.6.8
No devices attached.

I was messing with OpenMandriva the other day. "sudo dnf install airspyone_host
airspyhf" works and installed both devices. I really wish Fedora would do this.

Non-responsive maintainer-like policy for approved packages that aren't imported?

2022-07-14 Thread Mark E. Fuller
Can anyone advise as to what the policy should be when a package is
reviewed and approved but never imported?

This is the second one of these I have come across recently:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=2031922 was
approved ~5 months ago and has gone nowhere since and it is now blocking
a current review

eclipse-photran builds failed/not included since F32

2020-12-22 Thread Mark E. Fuller
I'm not quite sure where else to direct this - I intermittently do some
Fortran work and the Eclipse plugin (eclipse-photran) appears to have
disappeared from the repos since F32. Looking at Koji, releng was
previously doing the builds for it . Does anyone know anymore about
this including whether eclipse-photran is being (intentionally) dropped
and alternatives?
Thanks all

For the next question, since I have never built or maintained packages

Package Review / Sponsorship Request

2022-01-06 Thread Mark E. Fuller

Good day all,

I have just submitted a review request
(https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2037645) for Cantera, a
chemical kinetics, thermodynamics, and transport tool suite
(https://cantera.org/,
https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/fuller/Cantera/).

As this is my first package, I appreciate any constructive feedback and
am looking for a sponsor.
I am particularly interested in having the package ultimately available
in EPEL as this would make installation on many HPC resources very simple.

Regards,
Fuller

Re: Request assistance getting a package (usbrelay) into Fedora

2022-01-17 Thread Mark E. Fuller
I used this software some years ago during my PhD, although ultimately
didn't go very far with it (decided against writing my own automation
system and outsourced it to an undergrad with LabVIEW...).

I would be happy to take a look (especially if I can find that little
USB relay again I was having so much fun playing with).

There is a debian package that has not been maintained for many years. We are

As a long term Fedora user, I would love to get it into Fedora. However I have
never attempted to create an rpm package. The more I read, the more confused I

Questions on Issues like:

- what about the daemon/ systemd service...

Hi Darryl,

My emails keep bouncing when I try to write to you directly.

I'll try to block off some time in the coming week to take a stab at
drafting a package for usbrelay and then get back to you.

Looking forward to working with you.
In the meantime, please send me a message directly so we can move off

My spec for cantera currently has an "excludearch" for ppc64le since the
rawhide builds were failing - should I drop this allow for the releng tools to
automatically find and rebuild it?

Another self-introduction

2021-01-02 Thread Mark E. Fuller
Hello all and happy (civil) new year.
I'm Fuller and I am new to this list since making the switch from
stable Fedora to Rawhide about a month ago.
I have been Linux-exclusive for nearly 15 years after some first
exposure to Debian in the computing labs and made the switch from
Ubuntu to Fedora 16 (Verne) back in 2011.
I am a research scientist/engineer working on combustion, energy,
propulsion, etc. and contribute to some open-source software and
databases as part of that work.
I am currently on the German translators team for Fedora and hope to
also find some ways to give back as my own programming improves with my
research.

Help with packaging golang binary: resolving dependencies

2022-04-23 Thread Mark E. Fuller

Hi all,

I'm looking to submit a first golang package for review, but I'm running
into some confusion as to whether there's a way to download/import all
the linked source dependencies without having to package all of those
projects, too.

To make this more concrete:

My spec is at
https://download.copr.fedorainfracloud.org/results/fuller/test-builds/fedora-rawhide-x86_64/04306641-golang-github-task/task.spec

There are three other sources on which it depends, none of which are
already packaged for Fedora, so the build log
(https://download.copr.fedorainfracloud.org/results/fuller/test-builds/fedora-rawhide-x86_64/04306641-golang-github-task/builder-live.log.gz)
shows:

No matching package to install: 'golang(github.com/go-task/slim-sprig)'
No matching package to install: 'golang(github.com/mattn/go-zglob)'
No matching package to install: 'golang(github.com/radovskyb/watcher)'
Not all dependencies satisfied
Error: Some packages could not be found.

Copr build error: Build failed

I tried also explicitly adding the other repos as sources, but this
didn't seem to fix the problem either, i.e.:

...
Source0:%{gosource}
Source1:https://github.com/go-task/slim-sprig/archive/master.tar.gz
Source2:
https://github.com/radovskyb/watcher/archive/refs/tags/v1.0.7.tar.gz

Source3:https://github.com/mattn/go-zglob/archive/master.tar.gz
...

Any help is very appreciated,

Regards,

Question on creating system users/groups at install in spec file

2022-04-30 Thread Mark E. Fuller

Hi all,

I am working on chasing down an issue in preparing a package for review:
The package should create a user and group as part of its installation
and I have attempted to implement this following the instructions/docs
at https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/packaging-guidelines/UsersAndGroups/

Unfortunately, when testing the installation, I always get the following
output:

```
Installing : usbrelay-common-1.0-1.fc35.x86_64
warning: user usbrelay does not exist - using root
warning: group usbrelay does not exist - using root
warning: user usbrelay does not exist - using root
warning: group usbrelay does not exist - using root
```

I've tried several modifications and looked at the munge package for
reference, but I'm still stuck.

If anyone is willing to take a look, I would be extremely grateful.

Epel8 build with python > 3.6?

2024-07-15 Thread Mark E. Fuller via devel
I want to make a minor update to an EPEL 8 package, but the default Python is
3.6 where the update requires >=3.7

Is this possible to do (with modules?)? How would I specify it in the spec file
if it is?

Re: Epel8 build with python > 3.6?

2024-07-15 Thread Mark E. Fuller via devel
Thanks, I have tried a few variations on this, but get the following error
(trying presently with python 3.8):

Error:
Problem: conflicting requests
  - package python38-pytest-4.6.6-3.module+el8.9.0+1418+f0d66789.noarch from
powertools is filtered out by modular filtering
(try to add '--skip-broken' to skip uninstallable packages or '--nobest' to use
not only best candidate packages)

(In addition to several "sh: /usr/bin/python3.6: No such file or directory"
right at the start")

Is there an additional switch I need to throw to effectively alias python3 to
the proper version?

Re: Epel8 build with python > 3.6?

Sorry, left out that using python3.12 works until the version checker in the
scons builder returns that I'm using unsupported Python3.6, hence asking
whether there needs to be a switch somewhere

pytest is a red herring - it doesn't cause issues with python312. My build with
python 3.12 fails because the scons build detects python version 3.6, not 3.12.
Getting the detected version to >3.6 is my real problem, and it seems
independent of updating the BuildRequires values

No problem. Without scons and python-ruamel-yaml for python3.12, this isn't
going anywhere fast

But the magic switch I need appears to be:

%global __python3 /usr/bin/python3.12
